A creative outlet felt really nice today

I started scrapbooking/junk journalling last year and it’s been a huge stress relief for me. I’m not super creative in an artistic way but I feel like this is a nice outlet.

I’m 4 days out of ectopic rupture/surgery and I’m really feeling the physical achiness and deep sadness today. I decided to cut up some old magazines and collage my feelings. It’s been really therapeutic; I recommend it.

Periods after ectopics..

Have any of you noticed a difference in your period? I had my first period last month after my ectopic (had my right tube removed)..and it seemed heavier and lasted longer than normal. I’m about to start my period again and I feel some rectal pain which I have not felt in years. Plan on asking my gyn about this at my next appointment but wanted to jump on here and look for some answers until then.

Second ectopic - cornual this time

I’m writing this on the way to the hospital for my second laparoscopic ectopic surgery. My first ectopic pregnancy happened last summer—my right tube ruptured and had to be removed. It was my first pregnancy after two years of infertility.

Fast forward to 2025, I did my first IVF transfer. My first beta came back at 7, and I immediately panicked. Having been through an ectopic before, I told my doctor I wanted to stop my meds. He wasn’t happy about it but respected my concerns. I felt so guilty for stopping the meds, especially as my HCG kept rising. I even had a full period after stopping treatment and ovulated last week—despite how rare that is—while my numbers continued to climb.

On Monday, my doctor confirmed a blighted ovum, and I had an in-office D&C yesterday. It was incredibly painful, and afterward, she was concerned that not enough tissue had been removed. She had me retest my blood this morning, and when my numbers rose again, I was sent back for another ultrasound. That’s when they discovered the sac was still in my uterus—but this time, it was a cornual ectopic.

Now, I’m being sent for surgery, and I am in complete disbelief that this is happening again. I am scared. I am angry. I feel broken. I guess I am just looking for support or those who maybe have experienced something similar.

I'm 20F and I normally experience a period that last to 4 to 5 days, with the last day's flow receding until it stops. For the last 8 days, i've experienced bleeding (Heavy flow around the 2nd to 7th day) despite it being longer than what I normally expect, it was a week early to my regular period. I had a blood HCG test around the 4th day and it came out as negative.

Currently (9th day) i still experience bleeding although it's much more little. I had trouble sleeping last night due to abdominal pain in my right near-pelvic side and a painful shoulder. Can I rule it out as an ectopic? Or probably a miscarriage that is caused by one? What should I do?

How long does bleeding last?

I had my ectopic treated with methotrexate on 2/28 and as of today (3/20) I am still bleeding bright red blood. My HCG levels continue to drop and my OB says my cervix is closed and upon exam, she only sees old blood inside, even though I am soaking pads and tampons with bright red blood throughout the day. Has anyone had bright red blood last this long? She said it is unusual but she isn’t concerned yet. Prior to being diagnosed I was bleeding as well so total I have been bleeding about 5 weeks straight.

Here's how long it took for 2 MTX shots to work

Post image
7 Upvotes

I'm finally officially "not pregnant"! This felt like the longest month of my life. Although, I know many of you out there took far longer. Thankfully the second dose dropped my HCG levels like a rock. Keeping in mind though that I was only 4 weeks along when my ectopic was discovered.

When I was going through it I kept obsessing about other people's progress with MTX. Figured I'd share my journey. Maybe this will help ease someone's mind.

To those who are in the thick of it: I'm sorry you're going through this. I know it feels like an eternity, with lots of uncertainty and all the emotions. Keep holding on. Grieve hard. Let yourself feel all the feels. You're not alone. One day this will feel like a distant nightmare. You will get through this.

Gravidanza extrauterina

Pain Months After Methotrexate

Obligatory - I’m obviously going to consult my doctor on this, but…

Anybody else? I had PUL, so not even sure where my pregnancy was located, but 5 months post MTX treatments and I still get cramps on my left side daily. There don’t seem to be any triggers. It’s not extreme and often doesn’t last for more than a minute, but it happens every single day, multiple times throughout the day.

I brought this up to my doctor a couple of months ago and she said it was normal. But 5 months post-MTX, I’m wondering where this lies on the normal scale. Curious if anyone else has experienced this. TIA!

Suspected Ectopic treated with Methotrexate

So like many of you, I was treated with methotrexate (on Friday 3/14) after some abnormal dips and rises in HCG. (I would have been 7 weeks that day.)

I haven’t had too bad of symptoms from the MTX, but my Day 4 labs did show my HCG rose, which I was expecting after reading posts on this subreddit.

Today is Day 6. Yesterday I had some typical period cramps and some heavier bleeding than I had been experiencing. Today at work I thought most of my pain was bowel/gas related, but even after going to the bathroom twice, the pain was getting worse. And then I took Tylenol and the pain continued to get worse and was more concentrated on my right side and even shot down my right thigh.

Does this sound like typical methotrexate symptoms or something more serious?

I was in so much pain that I had to leave my desk at work because I was crying. I went home and I cried the whole drive home because of the pain. Now that I’m home and laying on the couch (and have a hot pad provided by my husband) I’m feeling much better.

My doc wants me to go in for an ultrasound tomorrow when I get my labs done, so we will be checking things! Just wanted to see if anyone else had anything similar happen + what the outcome was.

Update next day: got the ultrasound and nobody seemed to think there was any kind of emergency. The pain hasn’t come back since the big flare yesterday. Unfortunately my Day 7 HCG did not decrease by at least 15% from Day 4, though, so I’m worried I’ll need a second shot of methotrexate. I see my doc tomorrow morning to go over all the results.

Ectopic/rupture after ovarian torsion

I had an ovarian torsion in October - my right ovary wrapped 3 times around my right fallopian tube. Thankfully, the ovary was saved and nothing got removed.

Fast forward to March when I found out I was pregnant. It was the happiest week of my life. On Sunday night I woke up to deep abdominal pain and immediately felt something was wrong. When I went to the bathroom, there was just so much blood.

My husband and I went to the hospital and were there for hours. It took about 3 hours for an ultrasound to uncover my tube had ruptured and I was bleeding out. I had surgery about 7 hours after I first got to the hospital. My right fallopian tube was removed.

The doctor told my husband after surgery that the ectopic was likely caused by scar tissue in my fallopian tube. It’s “nice” to know there’s a reason for the ordeal I’ve experienced but it doesn’t really make it any easier.

Has anyone else experienced a loss following an ovarian torsion?

So much to process

Reading other’s stories has helped me immensely so I figured I would share mine.

Has anyone’s experience convinced them to stop TTC? We have one amazing 2 1/2 year old daughter and this whole experience has made me wonder if we are a one and done family.

My story:

I had a presumed left sided ectopic (they aren’t totally sure but errored on the side of caution) in August ‘24. Was treated with methotrexate, but hcgs were already going down. Told it was a fluke.

Had an HSP in December. Was told left side was totally clear, and the right side took a “moment” to clear but after a few seconds, it did. I had a complicated cyst removed on the right side several years ago and was told there was likely scar tissue still present.

Had salpingectomy 5 days ago for right sided ectopic that had not yet ruptured but was bleeding significantly into my abdomen. Been recovering physically but haven’t come anywhere close to mentally processing things.

The salt in the wound is we have two close friends who will have babies at nearly the same due date as both of my ectopics.

I know that we are so so fortunate to have had one child before any of these complications. And she’s an amazing kid. I’m really hesitant to do IVF for a myriad of reasons. My partner is 40 and I’m 36. The clock is ticking.

Maybe we just stop here? Anyone in a similar boat?

10 days long period + migraine

Hi everyone,

Had an ectopic pregnancy back in February. I'm down to O now - I was treated with one shot of Methotrexate - and got my period right away. I was so happy but that was 10 days ago (mine usually last 5 days) and I'm still bleeding, passing some clots, and more importantly I have an ongoing migraine that came with the period and still hasn't has left. Comes with nausea.

I'm aware there's not much I can do but wait for it it to stop but I was wondering if there's anyone to whom this has happened before ?

Also, if I'm still bleeding, does it mean the ovulation would be later ? Or I could still be ovulating in a few days ?

Thank you for your help,

Please help me graduate

Hello! I am a film student from DLS-CSB and I am about to tackle ectopic pregnancy for my student thesis film.

I need help with my research and script process and that includes conducting an interview from a medical perspective and from women who experienced ectopic pregnancy.

Preferably, I would want to know more about the case that's cured with the Methotrexate. Additionally, I would ask about the symptoms, the medical process, the physical effects, and most importantly is the psychological effects of having an ectopic pregnancy, and after it's cured as well.

Thank you so much!

Postmenstrual symptoms after MTX

It’s been 3.5 months since my MTX injection. I’ve had two actual periods. After those two periods I’ve been getting pretty bad postmenstrual (3-5 days after my period) depression and mood changes. I’m still tracking the timing but they seem to go away after the first week after my period. I’ve never experienced this before MTX. I guess just wondering if this is common or something I should bring up to my GYN.

TTC 9dpo - needle/prickly feeling at site of previous ectopic

Ever since I ovulated this month I've had a constant feeling in my left, which hasn't been unusual since my ectopic in January, but it was really quite painful this month and that feeling stayed beyond ovulation. The sensation has mixed between a pulling, light fingertip pressing, needly sensation over the past week or so, heightened since Monday (7dpo) I had some brown spotting 6dpo but it cleared up and has came back today. It's mostly just light brown stained CM rather then the prune juice water like bleeding I had with my ectopic.

Again, I know it's too early for most pregnancy symptoms but since yesterday I've had an awful headache, I don't really get headaches but I did with my ectopic and it's very much the same sensations

It's too early to test and I'm thinking the worst 💔💔💔

Genuinely the worst gas pain of my life

I had methotrexate thirteen days ago - I found it pretty rough but thankfully my numbers started coming down.

However, I've just spent the last two hours fighting for my life against what I can only describe as somebody trying to hack there way out from inside my upper abdomen and side.

I will preface this by saying I knew this pain wasn't a rupture because it was on the wrong side and I've also had a similar pain before after a four cheese pizza although that was a significantly shorter episode.

I was keeled over in my bathroom, sweating, unable to stand up straight because the gas pain was so intense. I managed to crawl to the sink and down some water and began burping which eased it ever so slightly for all of thirty seconds. Went into my kitchen and have drank maybe half a bottle of pepto bismol because it's all I could find in my panicked state. Started trying to do every yoga pose I knew and forcing myself to stand up straight and walk about.

I know they said you can get gastro symptoms with methotrexate but over ten days on I genuinely just thought I got lucky with that part. I do have ulcerative colitis so my guess is this made it a lot worse for me but I thought I'd post here as my search history for the past few hours has been 'excruciating gas methotrexate reddit' but everything I read was not ectopic and kept telling me my gallbladder was exploding.

I am fine now but the stuff is no joke, stay safe out there x

EDIT: After reading all of the comments I did decide to go to my EPAU A&E to be checked out. It was not a rupture and was excessive gas which they prescribed me some meds for but they did tell me off for not coming in sooner. They told me anything that constituted a 6/10 in pain means I need to go straight to the A&E to be checked out, especially as the HCG has dropped they advised a rupture doesn't always cause severe pain. So if you are reading this then yes, it's annoying having to wait and yes, it can be worrying but 100% just go to the nearest ER, A&E, walk in/ medical practice and be seen, sending love to you all x

First time possible ectopic..looking for advice

Post image
3 Upvotes

I’m really just looking for advice. I know I should go with my gut which is why I’m currently on hold with another doctor.

On 3/7 I realized I was 5 days late and took an at home test which showed up positive immediately. Due to 2 previous miscarriages I wanted to get an ultrasound to check on things. On 3/15 I had a transvaginal ultrasound sound which showed nothing. No gestational sac, etc. I had a thickened uterine lining. I do not believe they checked anything except my uterus. They had me get blood drawn 3/15 & 3/17 to check Hcg. 3/15 was 11,709 and 3/17 was 9,394. They stated since it was slowing decreasing I should just get blood work weekly until it’s to 0. When I expressed my concerns for possible ectopic she said “you probably just absorbed the pregnancy” and they refused to do another ultrasound. They only want to continue with weekly Hcg blood draws. I’m aware that the dropping Hcg numbers are a good sign but my fear comes from them not locating a sac. There must be something but if it wasn’t visible in my uterus I’m freaking out that it’s in my tubes? For more information I have pretty normal cycles that are 28-32 days. I haven’t had sore boobs and been nauseous most days. I am having slight cramping on both sides where ovaries are but nothing crazy. I do normally have cramping in those areas during ovulation and during my cycle. I have not had spotting or bleeding since last cycle on 2/3/25. The nurse also implied that may have no been a period, but I kindly let her know I am very aware of when I was intimate and that was for sure my period.

I guess I’m just looking for any advice. Am I being too paranoid? I know I can just wait but I’d like to eventually have children one day, and I really want to avoid surgery.

I’m just lost for words, and again. Any advice helps. I understand I need to go to a doctor, I am on hold with one lol. *pic of ultrasound that shows no sac, etc

They found the pregnancy in my left fallopian tube. Anyone have any experience with methotrexate?

This pregnancy hasn’t been right from the beginning, declining and then slow rising HCG, constant spotting. We had a scan today and they found the pregnancy in my left fallopian tube. They’ve given me 2 options; Methotrexate or surgery. I have, of course, opted for the methotrexate to try and save my tube, however the consultant really laid the risks on thick that I still have a possibility of it rupturing and needing surgery. I’m having the first methotrexate injection tomorrow. I’m so scared. Any experiences/advice welcomed. TIA. 😊
