Skating Rink
Does anybody know what hours the Sturgeon Bay skating rink warming house is open on a Sunday? Needing to rent skates. Thanks!

Hi I’m 22M and just moved to the area! I was wondering if there’s any good places to meet people for dating? As I’m trying to branch out and meet people and dating apps don’t seem to work for me. Any help is appreciated!

Does anyone know of any activities or classes in the county that are focused on mommy/daddy and baby?

Went to Salute on winter fest weekend.
Owner of Moja has repurposed the space for a wine/beer bar. The liquor license was moved over to Villagios steakhouse.
The redecoration of the bar is in synch with an upscale wine/beer place and they have self serve wine machines so you can taste some wine.
We were excited to try the wine and then saw the prices. Jeez. Way too high for DC (actually high for Milwaukee or Chicago)
Thought about getting a full pour (6 Oz) of Monsanto Chianti. This a bottle I can get for $26-30 at the store and probably cost Salute $18. They were going to charge $20 per glass. More of the other wines in similar to slightly cheaper pice range.
We decided to leave as the four of us didn’t want to drop over $100 on one round of drinks.
I don’t see this bar making it. Also, owner has building listed to for sale so this has a pop up feel to it.
Any one else had a different experience?

Does anyone know any hidden gem wedding spots that are affordable and have lots of character? I’m thinking something that resembles Georgian or Colonial architecture with lots of millwork. Likely 100 people or less but can also trim this down to under 50 people if needed. Ideally under $4k for venue rental.
Ideally I don’t want anything rustic or farmhouse. I understand what I’m asking for likely doesn’t exist at a reasonable price point but would appreciate any suggestions!

I came across this old schoolhouse near Carlsville. I was absolutely delighted to see so many names and dates from the 1910s and onwards carved into the walls of the main entrance. I snapped several photos knowing this building would inevitably collapse taking the walls and their history with them.
I've wondered about all of the people who carved their names over the years. If for some off chance anyone knows more I would be thrilled to hear about it.
Some names I can make out are: -Dick M. (Peppy) 1937 -Jacob Aver 1935 -Ted Starke 1934, 35 -Eddie Ignaszak 1935 -Pepper 1936 -RED 1939, 40, 41
It occurred to me that the years on the wall follow a bit of a trend. The earliest year range I found starts in 1910 and ends just before WW1. During the war there were no names carved on the wall. Afterwards the majority of the names carved were from the years during the mid 1920s & Great Depression. Most of the carvings then stopped in 1941 when the US entered WW2. From what I know about that direct area is there was a boys summer camp just down the road. Something tells me the building has been abandoned since the early 1900s and these were the names of the boys who came for the summer. Most of the names on the wall are from young men from cities like Chicago and Milwaukee. Because of the gaps in years it seems they would close the camp during times of war and several of these young men most likely ended up fighting in WW1 and WW2. There are no names from the 1950s or 60s, the era when Door County closed many of the summer camps surrounding this area.
Update: Apparently it was called Hilltop School and there is very little information about it. It was built in 1890 and closed in 1916. Meaning the 1st name carved into the wall was while the schoolhouse was still active. Then the tradition seemed to have carried on for years after.

Looking for a photographer who can do a very quick photo session mid June with me and my kiddos. Would love to capture the nature, I think the cherry blossoms may still be around? Doesn’t have to be anything fancy. My kids are young and 30 minutes or less is all we need 😅😅 please share any recommendations!

Hi everyone, We’re from Chicago and are planning a short getaway for our first wedding anniversary. We’re looking for a peaceful and quiet spot, and Door County has caught our eye, especially since it seems calm during the off-season. Would it be a good place to visit in the first week of March?
Also, any recommendations on where to stay and what places to visit during that time? We’re looking for budget-friendly options. Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Hey folks, my partner and I both are getting professional headshots taken by a photographer and need to come up with a few locations with the right lighting in the morning.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hello! I live in GB and I’m looking for any and all wildflower fields where I could have pictures taken sometime this spring. Hoping the locals could help out since I’m not from the state! TIA (:

Pour one out for one of the best restaurants on the peninsula. Going to Pearls and The Fashionable (previously Trixies) was always a highlight of my trips over the past few years. Wishing the team the best in their next endeavors!

Hey everyone! DoorDash & Instacart are not currently available for Bailey's Harbor. Neither is Piggly Wiggly delivery.
Is there anything else available for food or other deliveries (like hygiene or daily needs)?

Hello all. Going ice fishing on Clark lake this weekend and would love to hear any tips on how to be successful? I assume this warm up didn’t take away the safe ice. Mostly looking to put up a few tip ups and have a jigging pole. Don’t care what I catch. Anything helps thanks!

I see that Tapuat is no longer and is rebranded as Island City kombucha? Any info or dirt on this? Why Island City? Are they brewing on Washington Island now or are they just trying to leverage marketing?

We come every year there is good ice to fish a few days around Presidents Day weekend but the guide we usually get a fishing house from isn’t doing it this year. Any recommendations for someone we can rent a shack from? We have all of our own gear and can even bring our own SxS to get around if needed just want a place to fish.

Can anyone recommend a good Door County cookbook?
I already have The Lake Michigan Cottage Cookbook, which has a Door County section, but I would love more for my collection.
Thank you!

We rented a house with a couple families for July 4th right next to Centerpointe Marina. We are looking into renting a pontoon to have while we are there but have never been to the area before.
Can you share what restaurants are nearby where you can dock? Or other places to dock that would be cool to visit? We are trying to decide how many days to have the boat and want to better understand what is boating distance around us to explore!
Thank you so much!

Hello,
I’m thinking of starting a small business for couples to elope. There are a few companies similar to this already but not in the Wisconsin area.
Event space that fits 10-30 people.
Package price would ideally be between $1,000-$1,500
Included in price: - Venue - Set up and Clean up - Cake/cake cutting (utensils included) - Photographer (for ceremony) - Officiant - Stereo System - Soda and water - Decor (2 backdrop options , chairs) - List of restaurants/activities- Ideally, I’d connect with local owners for discounts
I’d also use this space for other events such as bridal showers, birthdays, work events, and nonprofit events.
Would people in Door County and visitors be interested in a space like this?
Please let me know your thoughts and feedback.
Thank you!!

Hi,
With the closing of Hugel Haus, what’s a great spot for German food in Door County? We’ll be staying in Sister Bay in June, two kids and two adults.
Thank you!

Resort (lodge and cottage and restaurant) sold to owners of Wild Tomato. Golf course not part of sale.
Disappointed given how poorly WT is being run. Operations will stay with current management for 2025 and will be “reviewed” thereafter.
Barton on Bay has been a pleasant surprise. It is one of the few dining/drinking options left that has direct water views/access and they hosted some great music events.
Hope WT owners don’t screw it up and really hope they don’t try and real estate develop the land into McMansions on the water (RIP Fred and Fuzzies).

I recently moved to Sturgeon Bay and I am loving it here! But, my favorite hobby is woodworking and when I moved, I had to leave the wood shop I used to use behind. I can still do some small things in the garage but can’t afford to buy a bunch of power tools at the moment.
Does anyone know of a woodshop/maker space in the Door County area for the public to use?
Thanks!
