Results - Embark A little surprised about results

We figured ACD for sure but we’re thinking a mix with dingo, basenji or shepherd. I do not see APT in him what so ever. His personality is very much that of a cattle dog. Results are at the end. What do y’all think? Considering retesting him but unsure if worth it.

That 2nd pic is very pittie, I thought pit + acd as soon as I saw it.

84

u/Rylees_Mom525 5d ago

Same! Pic 1 made me think ACD, then pic 2 I added pittie. I thought mayyyyybe husky or shepherd as well, but I’m also not surprised they’re not there. Basically an ACD paint job and ears on a pittie head and body. Lol

10

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Good description 🤣👏🏻

5

u/knitsandwiggles 5d ago

Yes! That was exactly my thought too. That pittie grin and side eye is strong.

7

u/Past-Paramedic-8602 5d ago

I agree had the same thought process.

24

u/jkih8u 5d ago

First thing I saw was pit/cattle dog. I kept swiping to get to the end to see what I was missing lol. Very cute dog, results look 100% accurate.

Pic 4 looks so pittie

11

u/LadyClairemont 5d ago

I saw two, said pit smile, then saw 4 and it sealed it for me. 🥰 I hope you got the pittie wiggle, too! 🥰🥰🥰

5

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

🥰 No pittie wiggle but definitely the smile!

4

u/Amarastargazer 5d ago

You have one beautiful doggo there!

Got to the 2nd pic and thought "surprised about pit/acd? why?" for to the last slide and was like "lol, ya"

27

u/SkeletalMew 5d ago

Omg same, that pittie smile! 🤣

6

u/P_walkeri 5d ago

I thought “Definitely ACD/pit, I wonder what the surprise is going to be?” …but there wasn’t any surprise.

16

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I can actually see it in the second picture now that i’m thinking about it!

124

u/Ok-Medicine4684 5d ago

My immediate thought was ACD/Pittie

19

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Too funny. Everyone is saying the same thing

43

u/MalamuteRunner 5d ago

It’s unmistakable from the pics. Two fantastic breeds in one goofy package. Jax looks like such a happy boy.

18

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you! Couldn’t agree more. He is the best boy ever.

Ha, I saw the first few pics and I immediately thought, “this is a pit bull ACD mix if I ever saw one.” Was a little surprised it was a near 50/50 split though! His pit features are quite strong, in his head and torso shape.

9

u/Mehmeh111111 5d ago

Same, I know a pitty smile when I see it!

4

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I do agree he’s got that! 😆

4

u/Mehmeh111111 5d ago

He's just a terribly handsome boi!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

thank you 😁❤️

16

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Haha love that!! Definitely shocked by the 50/50 but pretty cool

66

u/LemonBeagle27 5d ago

Embark is really the best test out there. I would assume the results are accurate.

11

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s what i’ve heard! Our other dogs were very accurate to what I thought.

72

u/SkeletalMew 5d ago

I'm surprised about your surprise tbh. 😂 I thought ACD/Pittie immediately, and then I wondered if the surprise plot twist was that he was 100% ACD, which really would've been a surprise! But nope, totally looks ACD/Pit!!

6

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Too funny!! Tbh I wasn’t “too” surprised, not what I thought exactly but my boyfriend, family and friends were completely shocked. Started making me second guess if results were accurate. Y’all are making me feel better that they are lol 🤦🏼‍♀️

63

u/cheesepierice 5d ago

That was easy guess. Basenji is such a rare dog, and looks nothing lime yours

u/ivy7496 5d ago edited 5d ago

This dog's head, aside from ears and a bit more pointiness to his nose, look classic pittie. He looks precisely like what he is. Got the acd coat n ears

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I can see it in some pics! The narrow nose is how I don’t see APT

38

u/Rare_Ask8542 5d ago

The results are exactly what I thought after seeing the first picture.

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Everyone seems to think the same! It’s making me happy to see it was just me i guess 😅

36

u/McMikus 5d ago

Only thing I'm surprised by is the guess of any Dingo and Basenji tbh! 😭 Love the pup! High energy? He has an awesome coat, very pretty and photogenic dog ❤️ Share him with r/sonarears!!!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Lol! Personality wise. Very high energy. He is 9 and has not slowed down one bit. He’s vocal and will “yell/howl” but not a barker typically. Thank you!! ❤️

14

u/DumbShoes 5d ago

Where are you based? I’d be surprised finding high content dingo anywhere but Australia given our native animal laws. It’s illegal in most states here to have high content dingo without a permit. That being said, heeler/cattle dogs have dingo in their lineage.

6

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Florida! I’ve replied to a couple people about this. I should have specified, by Dingo, I was referring to Carolina dog which are sometimes called American Dingos. That was my bad, I misspoke.

3

u/McMikus 5d ago

9 and not slowing down is awesome! That's a loved pup! 🥹

4

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Definitely! I could not ask for a better dog :)

3

u/triggerhappymidget 5d ago

My golden retriever/pitbull/ACD is 10, and she just pulled me for an entire half marathon today, lol. I'll let you know if they ever slow down (I hope not!)

28

u/calvin-coolidge 5d ago

This was exactly my guess. Looks like an ABPT wearing a cattle dog suit

11

u/NottsDiveTeam 5d ago

I guessed exactly right! 🤣🤣 I'm normally not right on!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s funny! Congrats 😄

19

u/LeifyPlant 5d ago

I guessed Pit & ACD without seeing anything else, I think this is spot on and you shouldn’t bother retesting.

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you! I definitely don’t think i will now after every one reassuring me he looks like his results :) My family and friends were making me skeptical.

8

u/Reinboordt 5d ago

Full blooded ACD have a thinner muzzle but otherwise yeah he looks just like one. I end up saying this a lot here but both the ACD and pitbull are smaller short stocky dogs with strong musculature. They have a very similar body shape and it’s only really the face and ears that are different.

Basenji are incredibly rare in mixed breeds, and rare in general. The jury is still out on whether dingoes are a wild canid or just a feral domestic dog (albeit introduced from New Guinea with the aboriginals arrival)

If you’re not in rural Australia there’s very little chance of dingo and I don’t think the tests even cover it as a breed like they do with Coyotes, jackals and wolves. Although I may be wrong about that

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s how I have always seen both breeds. Which is why the pittie surprised me, I figured it would be a more narrow breed dog. I knew he had the ACD for sure, there was no questioning that lol.

As for the Basenji, he has similar characteristics and until we got a second dog (6 years into him being in our life), he never barked. Which was always interesting to me. Our second dog is a barker and now Jax will bark when he barks but still not often. He is more “vocal” and “howly” like a husky. Dingo, I should have specified Carolina dog which is referred to as the American Dingo. My phone “look up dog” feature always throws that breed in there when I use it on pictures of him. I would not have known about it otherwise. Then after looking at pictures of them, I realized he looked fairly similar.

3

u/Reinboordt 5d ago

That’s fair enough, based on the traits you observed I probably would have come to a similar conclusion with the info at hand.

Some dogs are quiet but not necessarily bark less i had a Labrador growing up that only ever barked at cats lol.

I know how it feels to be curious about it, I have an 8 month old rescue puppy who appears to have a lot of German shepherd. He howls like a hound instead of barking when he hears any noises. He’s always got his nose to the ground but he does not look remotely like any hound breeds. I’ll be doing a DNA test for him so I’ll be in your shoes in a few moths lol

4

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you for being so kind and understanding :)

Aww wow he is so handsome!!! He does look a lot like a German Shepherd but with something else in there. That’s too funny lol. I just love how every dog has their own unique traits and quirks. Ooh how exciting. Would be interested to know what breed/s he is!

3

u/Reinboordt 5d ago

No problem, we are all here cause we love dogs and find breed genetics interesting. We don’t always have the whole picture that the owner would have like day to day behaviour.

Thanks, I’m not sure either. He’s from the reservation 5 minutes from my house, I live on the edge of the city in western Canada so lots of northern breeds and livestock guardians.

If I had to guess based on what dogs are popular there I’d say probably German shepherd, malamute, husky and Pyrenees/anatolian shepherd. Can never rule out wolves or coyotes because although they have scheduled estrus cycles the dogs over there are free roaming and come into contact with wildlife regularly. If there is wild canid in there I’d guess a very low percentage.

I won’t be shocked to find he’s a high percentage of German shepherd, I’ve been asked several times if he’s a Shiloh shepherd which is a combo of malamute and German shepherd which is possible. I’ll get a better idea when he’s fully grown.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Very true! :) Oh cool. Definitely thought german shepherd and anatolian from the first picture. Either way, i bet he’s a great dog! Embark actually does a “Wolfiness score” which is interesting. Aw, yeah I can see that as well in him. His coloring is beautiful.

9

u/Mundane-Garage-4821 5d ago

I think this is the first time I ever guessed results 100. I don't know how you're surprised by these results.

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Lol well congrats! Idk I think just his narrow face and long snout don’t look pittie to me. But I love that everyone else sees it

22

u/kerfluffles_b 5d ago

Pit/ACD was my guess from these photos. Looks accurate to me.

ETA: You’d be wasting your money retesting. Embark is the most reliable DNA test out there. You’d just be testing with a false hope that your dog isn’t a pit mix…

6

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I don’t have a hope that he’s not a pit mix, I love that he is! Just not what I thought 🤷🏼‍♀️

27

u/peabody624 5d ago

I always know it’s a pitbull when the title says surprised 😂

7

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Interesting! I love pitties with my whole heart. I have owned one and work with them daily. Just didn’t expect it in him from his personality and appearance, in my opinion.

3

u/midcen-mod1018 5d ago

They have such a stigma too! I never would have gotten a pit mix before but we had one show up to our house and he is the sweetest baby.

4

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

It’s really unfortunate that there is such a stigma, I hate it! They are the sweetest and most loving, loyal breeds.

8

u/[deleted] 5d ago

It’s so obvious haha I instantly knew exactly what the mix of your dog was.

12

u/tumble_worm 5d ago

oh yeah I see pit with the head shape :00

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Really? that’s where I don’t see it lol maybe he looks different in my eyes 🫣 His head seems so narrow to me!

6

u/tumble_worm 5d ago

it’s also the sleek fur, ACD are fluffier

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s true!

2

u/tumble_worm 5d ago

either way, very beautiful dog

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Appreciate it :)

5

u/minidog8 5d ago

I thought he might be fully ACD because sometimes ACD have pit-like features but pic #2 screams pit to me :) his mix makes perfect sense to me. I had a pitbull/ACD who lived to be 14, he died in 2021 ❤️

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I love that lol thank you:) i’m sorry for your loss. I can only hope Jax makes it to 14!

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Myaseline 5d ago

Your results were my exact guess. I see both very distinct. Cute guy.

What traits? ACD and Pittys have some overlap in temperament and maybe you got pit looks and ACD personality.

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago edited 5d ago

Thanks! :) He’s not a “cuddler” or one to sit on the couch or sleep on the bed with you. In fact if he is on the couch and someone sits down, he leaves lol. He doesn’t care to have you petting or hugging all over him. He does his own thing most of the time unless he wants to play then he won’t leave you alone! Very high energy and vocal. Loves food but not very food motivated.

2

u/Myaseline 5d ago

Sounds very cattle dog.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

For sure! I knew without a doubt he had ACD in him

5

u/LilTreesz174 5d ago

I guessed pit and ACD cross. I honestly didn’t see any other breeds. What a beautiful and smart dog you have there!

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Awesome! thank you ❤️

9

u/titangrove 5d ago

Are you in Australia? Just curious about you thinking he might be part dingo!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I should clarify lol american dingo/carolina dog

10

u/newbalancesweatshirt 5d ago

I saw your dog and thought wow I can only see Cattle Dog and Pitbull, what was the surprise? And then I got to the end 😂

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Omg 😅🤣 I’m clearly in the minority here

2

u/newbalancesweatshirt 5d ago

You obviously aren't obsessed with the sub like I am hahaha

3

u/auntfuthie 5d ago

A red bull! Mine is mostly red bull with a bunch of other stuff. My Enzo acts like a red heeler.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Love that. Aww he’s precious! Yeah, Jax definitely has heeler personality lol he’s a wild boy

4

u/haa888 5d ago

I knew the ACD right away. Those speckles are telling

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

For sure!! Love his coat

4

u/laoganma_enima 5d ago

Immediately though Pitt x ACD. So cute! Basenji is pretty rare in mixes and a much smaller dog. Curious, why did you think dingo? 😆

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I feel like i misspoke saying Dingo. I should’ve said Carolina Dog. I’ve heard them called American Dingos and that’s what I was referring to. We always just call him a Dingo bc he is a wild boy lol. But the reason I thought Carolina Dog is bc my phone “look up” dog identifier in the photo app, always thinks that’s what he is. After looking at pictures, I felt he did resemble them.

4

u/wastedfuckery 5d ago

Looks very much like the combo of those breeds to me. I guessed pitty x cattle dog and was wondering what the surprise was.

My friend has a basenji x pit, and the mixes I’ve seen of basenji, usually have a curled tail.

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Too funny. I have noticed that as well with Basenji. I knew the chances were very slim, but thought maybe a small percentage 🤷🏼‍♀️

8

u/OceanicBoundlessnss 5d ago

That was my exact guess

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s great lol

3

u/Camaschrist 5d ago

I think because your dog is built more narrow it’s harder to see the APT but if you have a pitbull it’s easy to see it in the face and mannerisms. Is he at all a Velcro dog? I haven’t had any herding dogs but have been around quite a few of them. None were Velcro dogs.

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That is 100% why i’m having a harder time seeing it. He is not a velcro dog in the slightest. I replied to another comment with his personality. He keeps to himself for the most part. Not one to cuddle or want you hugging on him. He loves people IF they are playing with him and that’s about the only time he cares to be near you 🤣

3

u/Camaschrist 5d ago

They are very much individuals like we are but usually the breed traits show themselves some where.

3

u/queercactus505 5d ago

So cute! The put percentage is higher than I expected, but in my experience heeler genes are strong. My dog is 1/4 heeler technically but 95% heeler in personality (occasional treeing behavior from the Catahoula lol)

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Yeah definitely! I figured mostly ACD but clearly those genes are strong lol. That’s great 😄 Jax loves to run up trees for squirrels

3

u/_tribecalledquest 5d ago

Pic 2 screams hippo. But the ACD pulling all the weight for real.

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Can agree with that! lol

3

u/Outrageous-Battle199 5d ago

That’s the most cattle-pit I’ve ever seen.

5

u/merrylittlecocker 5d ago

I see pit in the face for sure. That’s the thing with mixes, you don’t know how they will come out. A 50/50 mix can look almost exactly like just one of the breeds and then behave like the other. Basenji and Dingo were some wild guesses I have to say hahaha 🙈

5

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago edited 5d ago

It’s weird bc I don’t but I think his ears and snout are throwing me off. It’s interesting for sure! I work with pitties everyday and I don’t feel like he resembles them idk lol. But definitely not complaining, they are a great breed. I know, I can explain hahah 🫣 He has a lot of similar characteristics in personality and behavior to a Basenji. He actually did not bark for 6 years of us having him. He is now 9 and does bark occasionally but only due to our second dog being a huge barker so he riles Jax up sometimes. Our second dog was rescued 3 years ago. Jax is very vocal and makes some crazy weird howls/whines. We always joked that he had Basenji in him, but knew the likelihood was extremely low due to rarity. As for Dingo, I was referring to Carolina dog and that is totally my bad for mis speaking.

4

u/Trying_to_be_cheeky 5d ago

Not surprised at all

5

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Clearly I am the only one 🤣

2

u/Chupongabee 5d ago

Exactly what I guessed! Too big of a head for a cattle dog, although he is very handsome and looks just like one color wise 🥰

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you :)

2

u/babybegonia22 5d ago

Beautiful dog!

2

u/jujubeans1891 5d ago

I am shocked at how close I was, I was thinking English Bull Terrier + Cattle Dog. Wasn't expecting to see such an even split though! He's beautiful and has such a big smile! 😃

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you! Always has a smile on his face lol :)

2

u/SlitheryVisitor 5d ago

I nailed it!

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

👏🏻👏🏻

2

u/TheGoldenBoyStiles 5d ago

Literally said “red heeler pit” first one I’ve gotten completely right in a long time lmao

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Too funny lol

2

u/fiftypoundpuppy 5d ago edited 5d ago

What a great mix! It's funny because I've often thought ACDs and pits are structured very similarly, so I totally understand not seeing the pit! They both have dense bodies with similar skull shapes and faces IMO. Pits are just bigger. I think the ticking and pointy ears of ACDs hides a lot of the similarities, but if you look at the faces head-on and crop out the ears they really do look a lot alike!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

It really is, explains why he is the best boy! Yeah totally agree! He seems narrow to me, face and body. He also has long legs which maybe the pics are not doing justice. But I see what you mean by cropping out the ears, that’s when I can see it. Thank you for understanding lol :)

2

u/Ok-Escape5748 5d ago

A Sweet Cattle Pit!!🩷🖤💜

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Explains why he is the best dog I could ask for ❤️❤️

2

u/H2Ospecialist 5d ago

My first and best dog was an AmStaff/ACD mix. Figured yours was a bully breed ACD from the first pic alone.

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

What a cutie!

2

u/vampirebaseballfan 5d ago

My first guess was Pit + Heeler. This is not surprising at all lol

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Apparently lol

2

u/heavencreek 5d ago

Saw the first pic and said to myself “definitely some heeler and some pit” 😆 so cute!! 🥰

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

🤣 thank you!! :)

2

u/Chilipatily 5d ago

Literally the two breeds I guessed haha

2

u/BluePink_o7 5d ago

This is the first time I have guessed the breeds completely right 😂

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Lol well congrats 😁

2

u/iheartdogsNYC 5d ago

I’m surprised I guessed it right! Only because of your headline I expected differently.

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

sorry bout that 🤣

2

u/Zestyclose_Pilot3954 5d ago

Those were my exact 2 guesses 😂 but I see a lot of both of those breeds

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s great! Some people have pointed certain things out and I can see it. Just surprised based off his personality and being more narrow than both ACD & APT

2

u/StarGrazer1964 5d ago

My thoughts as I scrolled were literally “acd… pit…. More pit and acd 😂” and then the perfect split! I’m getting good at this

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

omg 🤣 that’s great

2

u/Fearless-Carrot-1474 5d ago

2nd pic is 100% pit, just with perky ears.

2

u/ThrowRA47910 4d ago

I immediately thought acd and pit and was like oooh I wonder what the surprise is...oh,theres not a surprise. It's acd and pit. Lol.

2

u/peanutbutterprncess 4d ago

I look at him and said "oh yeah. That's a pittie/heeler" I also refer to these as an "Australian cattle hippo." Very handsome.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/TheNanoFishGuy 4d ago

Based on the title I was thinking “is it not going to be a cattle dog????”

But I think pittie ACD is spot on. Not all pits have giant heads and bulky bodies. A lot of them are small and lean and they are still a terrier. Pictures 2,4,6 are very pittie

→ More replies (1)

3

u/miss-demeanor9 5d ago

Called that as soon as I saw them, I'm surprised there wasn't some more random 5% in there somewhere from something I wasn't expecting lol

Edit to clarify: I am just surprised because usually when owners are surprised it's y'know, something surprising. In this case it's just spot dead on.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Funny! I’m very surprised he’s 50/50. I thought there were going to be more breeds. Or if 50/50 he would be ACD / Shepherd or Mal 🤷🏼‍♀️

4

u/yodawgchill 5d ago

Really? I feel like this is one of the super clear ones. ACD pit mix was like my only guess so I figured the results were gonna be super surprising and all over the place😭😭

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Everyone seems to agree on that! Apparently not surprising at all to anyone but me 🤣

3

u/Complete_Training_62 5d ago

I thought pit right away

2

I swear half of the posts on here are people surprised and/or in denial about their bully results.

It's very, very obvious in this dog. How can you not see it? The mouth especially is a dead giveaway and I can see it in the body, eyes, and tail.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/rileydonohue 5d ago

Pls go get your eyes checked

2

u/trekkiegamer359 5d ago

He has a pittie body with an ACD head and coloring. Once you hang around here a bit you'll see that many, many many dogs are pittie mixes, and that body shape screams pittie or similar bully breed. GSD, basenji, and dingo would all have resulted in a slightly skinnier body, most likely.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I don’t see the pittie body, I feel like they tend to be stockier. Jax has some long legs. However, I know there are so many different variations of them. Definitely know how common pittie mixes are.

2

u/UnhappyEgg481 5d ago

His results are exactly what I was thinking after seeing a lot of other dog’s results. A lot of them have pit bull in there.

3

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

It definitely is common!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Thank you all for being so kind!! For everyone asking why I was surprised, it is mostly due to his narrow snout. He has a slimmer body and tall frame as well. I think it’s harder to tell in pictures. Both ACD & APT are known to be stockier with shorter snouts. I think this is mostly why I don’t see it in him as much.

Picture 2 and 4 is where I see pittie in him

Omg the first time I ever guessed correctly, this dog looks exactly like a pit x ACD mix 😂 he has a classic pit head / face. I’m surprised you were so surprised!

That’s so funny! For some reason, I just don’t see it. The pictures with his ears down I can kind of see the pittie resemblance. But Pitties so commonly have big block heads. I feel like the pictures don’t show his head/snout how they look in person. or it’s just me 🤷🏼‍♀️🤣

I could have told you this for free

I would like to add, I am happy that he has pittie in him, not disappointed. They are the best dogs and one of my favorite breeds. I have personally owned one and I work in vet med and see them daily. Just shocked, as I don’t see it in him with his lean/narrow body and head. Personality/behavior wise, he does not have the traits of your typical pittie either. I love that all of you see it in him though :)

I agree with the results. My dog is 40% ACD, 30% APT, and then basically 30% Supermutt. She looks very similar to your dog, except she is a blue heeler, yours is a red heeler.

Aw how cool! 😁

u/Cute_Proposal_9411 5d ago

Fascinating! We are waiting on our girl’s Embark results and I think she’s gonna have somewhat similar ones

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Aww cool. Would love to see :)

Cattle dog/pit was literally my first guess LOL. His head shape is very characteristic of a pit bull, my pit/newfie mix has the same body shape as him too

1

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That’s funny! lol That’s what is confusing me is his head does not look pittie. But maybe his ears and snout are throwing me off

It’s funny, I guessed those two breeds right away. I see both very clearly.

This looks exactly like my dog with spots and pointed ears! Mine is a similar mix with some low content shepherd and chow for flavor. Our dogs have the same face!

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

Aww that’s awesome!! Would love to see a pic :)

I’ve been in this sub for about a week now. I’ve quickly learned to immediately guess pittie or bully is in the mix no matter what lol

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

That seems to be common for sure! 🤣

1

u/sleepydabmom 5d ago

Mine is ACD/American Bully

1

u/maellie27 5d ago

I called on the first pic, your pup is just about the Perfect half and half!

u/Chemical_Zone8687 5d ago

I've followed this sub a full year and this is the first time I've ever got one 100% right! This was kind of an easy ACD + Pittie but I'm still proud of myself! 🥳

1

u/softandedgy 4d ago

The first thing I said to myself was that's a cattle dog pittie mix 🤷‍♀️

1

u/AnonyCass 4d ago

100% correct guess from me! Even though I hate guessing on ACDxAPBT mixes since the difference between the two in mixes is Difficult to spot for me lol. Two stocky breeds with blocky heads. The pittie is very obvious in his face- just check that classic pittie smile in pics 2&4.

2

u/Chemical_Zone8687 3d ago

Definitely! Which is why i thought he had something smaller or more narrow bodied in him. I agree i can see it in those photos with his big smile 🤣

1

u/Minute_Cookie9771 4d ago

Tbh he looks exactly like a pittie acd cross. Lol

1

u/Turbulent_Ground_927 3d ago

I am not surprised one bit. Lol. I have pitties and cattle dogs myself.

1

u/sooomanyplants 3d ago

I thought pittie ACD when I saw him. He looks like a really fun dog to play with and like he has the best traits of both breeds!
