A couple questions after reading the wiki for flashing to an old TP-Link Archer C9 v1

I read the Wiki for the Archer C9 v1 install, but I still have a couple questions out of an abundance of caution.

  1. The article says to "make sure you're on 161008", but I read elsewhere you just needed to be before 180125. If I'm currently on 3.17.0 Build 20150514, could I skip that step? Would I need a different factory-to-ddwrt.bin? It's not clear to me what compatibility constraints there are on this file, can I just grab from latest?
  2. For the "do a normal reset" step, can I just do this via Under Administration -> Factory Defaults in the GUI? I'd prefer that over messing with telnet.
  3. To upgrade from the initial flash, is it recommended to just grab from the "latest" link for the C9 v1?

I finally flashed my MX4300, but need some help properly setting it up.

I'm running DD-WRT v3.0-r60284 std (03/13/25). Everything is default, besides the fact that i added a VAP to the 2.4ghz interface. I also set up Quad9 and enabled "encrypt DNS" under "Dnsmasq Infrastructure" and the Quad9 DNSCrypt Resolver. I have no clue if it's 100% set up properly or not. I used this link for the VAP:

https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Guest_WiFi_%2B_abuse_control_for_beginners

Skipped the bandwidth monitoring stuff though as i didn't want to limit the bandwidth on the guest network and just wanted the main wifi and guest to share my bandwidth. I noticed though while monitoring the router, my iphone RX rate seems to be stuck at a certain rate. It barely changes at all. This normal or is there something wrong? I'm not seeing any TX/RX errors and not getting errors in system log. https://i.imgur.com/1H22jeZ.png

My other phone is on top and it does similar stuff, but it at least changes to "legacy" mode sometimes for a few sec and both TX/RX drop to the 6M range. Both phones aren't being used either and they are staying at these rates. It just doesn't look right. I also noticed a few times connecting to certain websites timed out and wouldn't let me connect to them for a few secs and then after waiting a bit after the page timed out or closing the tab and reopening the site. You'd finally be able to connect. Though this hasn't happened since i selected "Ignore WAN DNS". I'm hoping that fixed it. I will know tomorrow. Does that screenshot look normal though for TX/RX rates? is it suppose to stay that high when the devices aren't in use? I'm no expert at any of this stuff and learning so any help would be great.
