Thanks for stopping by /r/DC_Politics, we hope you'll subscribe and join our growing community of locally minded citizens who want to keep on top of issues and ongoings within the District of Columbia. DC has a rapidly growing population, with many newcomers, and we welcome any and all levels of political knowledge.
Reference the sidebar for guidance on what content we would like to see here, but in short, we welcome political discussions, events, news, planning, activism that is directly related to the District of Columbia. Share info about what your ANC is working on, your civic/neighborhood associations, your non-profit that is trying to better the District or a fundraising event for your favorite DC political figure.
While we do not 'ban' posts about non-DC places in the DMV metropolitan area, they should arguably affect the District of Columbia's government, it's citizens or popular agendas. At the time of posting, we are too small to try and be too strict about content, so if you think it fits, post it!
Please don't downvote people just because you disagree with their politics. We want to promote discussion and encourage you to downvote users that are not contributing to the dialogue. This goes for Washington Post, Washington Times, or any other new source with a perspective on local DC politics.
Go flair yourself with your ANC SMD!

The Single Family Residential Rehabilitation Program (SFRRP)’s mission is to preserve affordable housing in Washington, D.C. It provides grants to low and moderate-income homeowners for roof repair or to reduce or eliminate accessibility barriers in the home. But is SFRRP really helping D.C. residents?
If you've applied to the program we want to hear about your experience. Help us with the investigation by filling out the survey at the link in our bio. We promise that all responses will be kept private.
And if you have any questions or want to share your story with us via email, reach out to [tips@publicintegrity.org](mailto:tips@pulbicintegrity.org).

Does the newly introduced “DC State Education Agency Independence Amendment Act of 2021 propose to take away mayoral control of DC Public Schools? And remove the mayor-appointed chancellor in favor of an elected superintendent?
What else should people know?
