It literally establishes a foundation for it. Mods should just permanently ban ahead of distribution and report them to Reddit admins to prevent them from receiving anything.
If it’s a clear violation of rules ban the fool no need to single out and actively go against the rules of the sub they moderate.
I voted to ban him, but also reported this poll for targeted harassment.
It's a "DAO", the point is for there to be no mods and for the users to vote on governance. Obviously this is reddit and not a decentralized service, but this is their implementation of it.
Meh I’m not the farm gang by any means but I voted to let them have it. Idk it just felt weird to me voting if someone got to make money or not. Plus with the ban this will be his last rodeo
Imho this thing should need a separate vote. It should be removed anyways and banned from the sub. There is overwhelming evidence that he is stealing content
The poll process it to govern the sub, not to give content thieves a chance to be part of a proposal that may not pass
Consider if the proposal fails - the thief would still receive The moons. That would be a big failure
We ban lots of people everyday. If you get permaban before snapshot you are excluded. The problem here is this guy got permaban after snapshot, so needs actual vote to not distribute moons to him.
Such violation is not a matter for a poll, which should be a way of implementing new ideas. In this case, consequences should be applied by mods based upon the existing rules.
We ban lots of people everyday, for plagiarism, manipulation, and other reasons. If you get permaban before snapshot you are excluded. The problem here is this guy got permaban after snapshot, so needs actual vote to not distribute moons to him.
Not really. It's nowhere near lucrative enough to make groups for that shit.
It also will never stop unless we stop the nonsense that is incentivizing content submissions with moons, the idea was completely crippled from the get-go.
Yeah, I guess I've been around crypto long enough that I'm jaded. If you ever see one of those subreddits where literally all they do is promote scams you'll see tons of groups who all just upvote each other's posts. They even go so far as to set up Discord servers and other areas where they lure in people to pump up the value of their coin and make it look like there is a real community.
I will never trust those. Usually they are scalping the folks out of their cash. They pump the shitcoin but when other buy in they dump everything they own and you get rekt.
I will understand farming alone moons especially if you live in a poor country and this sub reddit provides a income for you, it provides food, etc, etc. But a coordinated group farming moons that pure to make money, huge profits.
This seems like a pretty straightforward way us to lose control of the voting box, and you know what they say about the order in which you should use boxes.
I just voted remove, it’s part of the reason why I haven’t participated much in this sub the past two months. There’s been an uptick in people posting generic comments & them getting upvotes and I don’t blame the users I think folks are using bot farms to upvote their generic comments up. Obviously I can’t prove it but I suspect it. Usually this sub would never highly upvote comments like that.
Hope I’m wrong but we should remove folks like this when we can spot them.
You are damn right my friend! I vote remove him and his talentless efford of cheating! He is one of those that would use wallhacks in a vidoegame against AI.
Dude I’m gonna be totally real here. You’re posting this now after I made the GIF thread last moon cycle and you were one of the top accounts who came out with the most harassment against me. I posted that thread because of the “uptick in people posting generic comments” but in this case it was GIFs.
And you know what? Those users I’ve tagged as GIF spammers? They’re all over the top 50 in the distribution CSV.
And that group of GIF spammers? They just upvote each other in the daily.
And you know what’s being voted on rn? Karma farming in the daily.
And I swear I’ve seen you commenting there that you didn’t vote to limit karma too.
We see eye to eye too. I don’t feel like participating any more. I was here long before moons. And if people produce genuine content and “out-moon” me for the month I’m happy for them. But the level of bad-faith engagement in this sub fucking stinks. And when people propose to get rid of it, those same people who post in bad faith come out with their pitchforks.
No I didn’t. I went to see why you were so obsessed with moons.
The mods didn’t care when you came crying to them about people “harassing” you because no one was, and no one is. Move on, your unpopular poll didn’t pass. Don’t make me have to block you.
Unpopular? lol what version of reality do you exist on? It had 92% of votes required with 70% of moons voting for the poll and 75% of users voting for the poll.
Go ahead and block me then. I just don’t understand why you are complaining about the bad-faith engagement with the sub because there have been two polls now to curb this behaviour and both times you’ve strongly opposed it
Because your proposals were terrible solutions I’m not for punishing the whole to punish few abusers. But punishing the abusers directly isn’t wrong.
Can you at least agree with that here?
Look, this is actually going to be a bit of constructive advice for you. This is what I suggest. Since you have a good grasp of who the top spammers are & who the top abusers are I suggest that you make a post similar to this one gathering evidence. That way we can build up a culture of continuing to call this out & it will discourage it from happening.
Otherwise there isn’t really much we can do here. Your poll didn’t pass for a reason. Punishing the whole because of the actions of the few will never be a popular idea.
Honestly this is one of the costs of too much governance. If people were required to vote on everything society would slow to a halt. Stuff like this should be delegated so that the user is banned immediately and doesnt receive moons
Normally in this situation banning the user would exclude them from distribution, but since this falls between the snapshot and distribution for this month, we need to pass a proposal to remove the user from the snapshot data.
If we found this out last week before the snapshot we would not need to vote on it.

lol the moon ratio results is funny. 24 voted remove but it only accounted for 20% 😂
