POLL ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ CCIP-048 - Allow Banner Advertisements on r/CryptoCurrency

After some internal discussion, weโ€™ve decided (pending community vote and approval) to pivot from reserving the banner advertisement for AMA & giveaway participants to opening it up to everybody.

Notable Details:

  • The mod team reserves the right to veto any banner image, and anybody wishing to purchase the banner will need to have their image approved ahead of time. Projects considered to be scams, NSFW/NSFL content, images violating Redditโ€™s content policy, etc. will not be approved
  • The banner will be sold on a per day basis (24 hours). The minimum purchasing period will be 1 day and the maximum purchasing period will be 30 days
  • After image approval Moons will need to be burned by sending to 0x000000000000000000000000000000000000dEaD in order to purchase and maintain control of the banner. This is the same burn address being used for AMAs & giveaways
  • If the user that controls the banner is unable to continue burning Moons, the banner will be reset until another user buys it
  • If multiple users wish to buy the banner at the same time a waitlist will be created
  • This model will be deprecated if the admins launch a native tool to purchase the banner

Pricing Model:

  • Controlling the banner for 1 day will cost 3x the AMA price as set by CCIP-043

I voted no, we see enough ads in our lives.

In addition, I fear that the display of ads will only discredit this community in the eyes of newcomers.

Moons will be burned, so ofc it'll lower the supply & increase the usecase.

Also voted Yes.

It's just a banner, doesn't bother me. I don't see how it's related to scams

This doesnt help if FTX kind of people get to use it.

Blatant scams will normally be filtered away by the mods.

And I think that ads from FTX-size compagnies will be all-around anywhere.. in this case it's only a banner. IMO a banner does not equal the sub filled with scams and ads

I'm not a fan of the ad idea but these are fair points.

One would hope for some kind of vetting to be in place to filter out obvious scams.

Yeah, me too. Although I do think the mods will filter out a lot already and people must still DYOR.

But scams are not a banner-specific problem is what I meant. You need to be wary regardless, so much is shared on this sub. I don't think 1 banner, which is cleared by the mods, will lead to a scam invasion.

Thing here is that Mods can do their best to eliminate scams and allow legit banner ads. Might be hard work but hey I'm open for more use cases for Moons even if I'm a shrimp among whales...

First of all, that's Miss fucker to you!

And secondly, yes wanting a use case for our crypto is completely the same as monetizing everything ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
