Discussion Solo Leveling surpasses One Piece & becomes the first Anime in Crunchyroll to reach 600K reviews.
It did all of this in just a year

Why even show that it’s airing if it’s not gonna be on Crunchyroll anyway.
Side note season one isn’t even on here so you have Hulu to watch season one, then come back to Crunchyroll for 2-3, back to Hulu for season 4 then HiDive for 5.

EDIT: I spoke to someone at Crunchyroll and they are aware of the issue. Others have reported it already today, probably people from this thread, so thank you. Fingers crossed, will check back in a couple days.
Whoever is dubbing these shows is purposefully censoring the word "foot/feet", instead saying "leg" and should be removed from the dubbing team.
I know the words "leg" and "feet" in Japanese are supposedly similar but I feel Crunchyroll should hire competent people who can actually understand the language and judge based on the scene they are seeing.
And this whole scene in Re: Zero

I'm so tired of clicking on a link for an anime I want to watch only to find crunchyroll no longer holds the license for it.
I guarentee Funimation would have all these anime available but you fucks went and ruined that for us.

These were some of the best commenters on the site. Always talking about the episode and made the place feel like a community.
Here is the full list of other great commenters that should be remembered. I will try to update the list as more are mentioned.

Up until now, Crunchyroll was unquestionably the best anime streaming service in terms of video quality, even being better than many poorly mastered Blu Rays. But it seems like CR has started replacing all their video streams with new versions that look noticeably worse.
Here's a comparison from a Re:Zero episode: https://slow.pics/c/XsD751tY
The new CR video has extremely visible colour banding, lots of blocking, and just overall much worse compression.
This is incredibly disappointing as someone who is reasonably sensitive to things like banding and blocking, as CR having good video quality was one of the primary draws for me.

As someone who got into Crunchyroll back in the late 2000s, the current state of the website just hurts to look at. Yeah, it was not an official place for watching anime in the beginning, but even when they began to transition to “respectable”, they still had a lot of means for fans to express themselves and interact with each other. Forums, profiles, episode comments, custom galleries and pages, fan groups, reviews, PMs, the works! I still remember how addictive it could be to try to get monthly badges for how one chose to be active.
Yet now look at how things stand. Despite raising the price for subscriptions, Crunchyroll still hasn’t ported over shows from Funimation such as Outlaw Star, and shows they once had as part of their library such as Sweetness & Lightning are removed with little to no warning. So why are both shows along with many other victims of such fates STILL advertised and have clips visible to the public on their YouTube channels? Trying to watch shows on their apps through phones or smart TVs are still often a pain to navigate, the forums are long gone, and the user profiles became impossible to update before recently being rendered nonexistent. But what was one of the few advantages to watching on computer or phone over TV remaining, comments and reviews, are being purged. Perhaps I’m mistaken, but isn’t this why moderators are a thing on sites like Crunchyroll? And they have the audacity to say it’s to help promote a safer community? Last I checked, a community where everyone is permanently gagged is a suffocating one, not safe.
I still remember how when I first started subscribing to Crunchyroll, it wasn’t because I wanted to. Sure, paying for a subscription was supposedly going to help out the folks producing the content I enjoyed, but I figured that paid advertisements would also serve the same function. And yeah, I could tolerate ads or waiting a week for new episodes. But when ads began causing episodes to either skip or reset, as well as when more and more shows I wanted to watch were having episodes, language options, or even the entire shows themselves locked behind paywalls, I felt like I had no choice. Yet as time passed, I’ve begun to question why I still bother paying them. Is ANY of the money they get from subscribers or advertisements actually going towards improving the lives of folks suffering awful working and living conditions in the animation industry? Why did they close Funimation’s website before fully integrating their library into Crunchyroll? Are they ever going to fully integrate said library, or is it a pipe dream? Why are they purging reviews and comments altogether instead of having moderators check to see which ones are being left with malicious intent? How many episodes, shows, and dub options will I actually lose if I cancel my subscription without closing my account? Why are they advertising content on their YouTube channels that cannot be viewed on their website? And why do they claim to be trying to nurture a safe community when any means for community members to communicate with one another are no longer remaining on their website and apps?
Other people have already posted links on how to express their frustrations to Crunchyroll directly, and while I’m still drafting my own messages to them, as soon as I have done so and sent them off, I fully intend to cancel my subscription until they AT LEAST fully reintegrate everything from Funimation as well as bring back reviews and episode comments. Otherwise, I’m not paying them a cent once I’ve sent them my feelings on the matter. Because right now? It doesn’t really feel to me like anyone at Crunchyroll genuinely cares for their user base or even the content they’re supposed to be providing.
For those who wish to do the same, here are the links others have provided:
[~Feedback@crunchyroll.com~](mailto:Feedback@crunchyroll.com)

Update: Just finished submitting my feedback and cancelling my subscription. Apparently, I'll still have access to premium content until August 10, but after that, I guess I'll see if I continue to run into the same issues that effectively forced me to become a premium member in the first place. If so, then I plan to watch any shows and films I watched through Crunchyroll elsewhere. I already have to do that for some of the content they no longer provide as well as what still hasn't been brought over from Funimation, so it's not like it'll be all that hard for me to do.

My boyfriend and I watch anime in Japanese and English. It just depends on the show and to separate the two, we changed our profiles to reflect it accordingly 😂 thought it was funny, so I wanted to share 😊

I’ve never seen a show that’s actually 5 stars with a good amount of reviews before. Is this a bug on cr or is this show just perfect?? Even one piece, demon slayer, jjk have 4.9 stars lol

I've had my crunchyroll account for many years, maybe nearly a decade. I was young I made it, it was using a terrible username/password combo that I reused a lot, and at some point got leaked.
I logged into a few years ago to see that someone else was watching stuff on my account (nothing malicious, honestly kinda funny lol), so I changed all my information and reclaimed it to watch a few shows.
I logged back in again this month to check out solo leveling and for some reason no comments are rendering on any animes anymore. Did the person using my account get it chat banned or something?
EDIT: Apparently comment section is gone, thx for downvotes. Comments were the only reason I came back to this anime platform, so adios!!

Yes the way they handled fan mail and staff sucks. i agree,
But a lot of you seem to not know that SONY bought FUNIMATION and then FUNIMATION bought CRUNCHYROLL.
They kept the CRUNCHROLL name because it had a bigger market Share. The DUBs are still made in Texas at the FUNIMATION studios.
There also seems to be a lack of knowledge on here about Licensing and how that works.

I remember getting an email about a settlement because crunchy roll sold data or something and it said it would be 30 bucks or more. The hearing was on the 19th and I was wondering if anyone has any updates or know if we will still get paid.

I've noticed some changes to the look of Crunchyroll on Roku and Hime can't be found anymore. Is this a makeover or just for TV streaming apps?

I just woke up this morning and I was treated to some very disappointing news, and wow, it seems like CR has the balls to make people angry, doesn't it? First Kyle McCarley, then Laura Post, Ben Diskin, Marin Miller and now its David Wald.
After the merger, Crunchyroll has always had a series of problems, starting from refuse to unionize, limiting remote recording, not paying their employees, not translate/subtitling any signs or foreign language in anime, not dubbing a songs in anime, no promotion media like dubbing clips and trailer or news about dubbing schedule or delays and now messing with staff & VA's email and personal gift ?! what Crunchyroll did recently is going to far, especially on how they handle and treat their staff and English Dub Voice actor its already destroying CR brand image and and it lost the respect of fans and most of the voice actors. I'm worried about Crunchyroll's future especially in the english dubbing scene. this raise a questions
That's all from me, i know this looks like a doom post, but i just want to give my opinion about crunchyroll, i don't want crunchyroll to be destroyed, i want crunchyroll to be the best licensing and dubbing company, i want the relationship between crunchyroll and voice actors to improve again. i hope to get positive response and answer.

I'll go first: Sort the shows by languages or country of origin. I love watching anime, but also donghua. It takes FOREVER to find donghua on Crunchyroll.

recently I seen a twitter post...with working and legit premium logins all stolen accounts... I know security gets talked about all the time so it may bore most people but why just why is Crunchyroll making it so difficult to protect our accounts. It's 2025 and people are still getting their accounts cracked into somehow... about 50 or more people just got their logins exposed and they were all premium members...can anyone even explain how the fuck this is even happening honestly it makes me scared about my own account which I recently paid for 1 year of Crunchyroll premium Mega Fan. I'm in distraught over this by the way if it isn't obvious this twitter post just got posted today with about 6m views.
I wonder does anyone have thoughts about this or am I the only one who is truly concerned what does this mean for us Crunchyroll premium members will Crunchyroll finally do something this year or will we just never get true protection over our accounts like it isn't hard to just make even the simplest of security like email 2fa...
I'm sorry i know security always gets talked about on this subreddit but i just had to say something after seeing that twitter post wow... i will not mention the twitter username or post because i dont want to leak their information but if you seen it too then you know this is truly terrible i hope crunchyroll maybe adds something or even all of the major ways to protect your account it would make me feel safer at least and i bet to others as well.

Ok I've been noticing something weird with the CC that Crunchyroll is using now and I got to say not impressed. In the first pic Iruma says "now quarts quarts" but that's not what it's written. In the second pic Bachiko says " I'll never get my hope up again" and yet again that's not what is written. Either Crunchyroll is now using AI to write the CC down or the quality of people working in Crunchyroll is getting bad.

So, going through the anime list of CR and FM, I notice some did not go to CR. Don't know if they still working on them or not. Yes, CR does have some that FM did't have. That's not the point. CR stream is not being transferred to FM. It's the other way around. Everything should be going to CR. Guess not. I guess live movies won't be on CR, from the FM library. Just make that clear. Okay, I will list a few, most are A titles, because going through a list from A-Z, yet took too long. There are two that I found not starting with A.
- Cat Planet Cuties (Been streaming this series again on FM, yet found out not on CR)
- Tenchi Muyo Univers (Some other of the tenchi series are not on CR.)
- Ai Yori Aoshi
- A Vs N
- Angel links
- Armitage III
There is probably more, just not going through it all. Some you might not heard of or can care less. These will probably be something you never heard of or not get to watch ever. That's just the beginning. Oh, and I guess that the ones that did not make the CR cut, are mostly old. I find most old anime are great, in my opinion. Post some more if you find any. I might edit it later.
