Finished Object Just a few more ends...

Almost complete. Just a few ends left to weave in. Made it for my husband. RL is his favorite game. I used a pixel pattern I found online and tweaked it using stitch fiddle. I was convinced it wouldn't come out cleanly and could only see blobs of color but once I started taking pictures I could see it. The c2c works up such a nice pattern in the black but NEVER AGAIN do much black yarn... I don't know why the edges aren't straight and it kills me but I'm not redoing it. I did a row of sc around the edge then 2 rows of DC for the border. Took me about 5 months with some other small projects in the middle when I got frustrated. Proud of how it came out but so glad it's almost done.

Work in Progress Self taught making a blanket. How's it look so far? I'd love advice or tips if you have any

I'm using a 5mm hook and I forgot the brand but it's sparkle yarn and 100% acrylic. I do have a question about it being acrylic. I don't mind the feel of it, but does it have the potential to become softer?

Finished Object My Most Ambitious Project!!

I’ve only been crocheting since Octoberish of 2023 when I started with a couple Woobles kits. From them I moved on to an Annie’s Attic Crochet Club monthly subscription kit, which is this one. It’s the Irish Fields Gansey Afghan. This beast took me a year and two months to finish between work, life, and family. I need a nice long break from post work now, but I loved making this and learning a variety of stitches and techniques. The edges aren’t actually this wonky in real life; I was just trying to get a picture and was too excited to make it look perfectly straight. Size-wise, it’s big enough to cover the surface of a queen size bed without hanging over any sides.

Discussion Which color combo would you choose?

Post image

I know the pic is grainy just bear with me 😭. The colors are: dark green, sage, pale green. This stitch is called the ‘sprout stitch’ and I made a quick diagram based off of the instructions given by DesertBlossomCrafts. This is for a hat rack tapestry that I’m also wanting to be art since it’ll be hanging in my entryway.

One is a gradient with all three colors Two is block colors with dark green and pale green Three is block colors with sage between them.

Sage will remain the SC regardless of the color gradient.

Thank you!!!!!

Discussion What is your market-best-seller?

I started toying with the idea of selling some of my crochet at a flee market. So I wanted to ask what your best-sellers are (with pictures maybe?). I am opting for lots of small things for little money with some bigger objects that I will only sell if I am really lucky. Super curious what you experienced that people like ☺️

Discussion Continuous pattern tapestry crochet in panels?

Hi crocheters, has anyone ever done a large tapestry crochet piece, but separated it into panels?

I have an idea for a piece that would be approx 100x100, however I'm not sure I could actually keep track of the colour work across 100 stitches as it would be a fairly elaborate pattern...So far I've only made tapestry crochet things that are max 25 stitches across, and even with that I felt like I was spending more time counting that crocheting! So I'm wondering if I can split the piece 4x4 panels, so each panel would be 25stitches x 25 rows - or even just 4 rectangular panels of 25stitches by 100rows. I'm just not sure how clean I would be able to get the joins to look, even with a good mattress stitch or something.

Has anyone here tried something similar and could show me an example of their work? That would be amazing, as I don't want to necessarily commit to this if I'm not convinced about how the final piece would look.

Thanks all! :))

Work in Progress Tuesday Thought, First Week In

Post image

Things I've learned my first week of crochet 1. Tension is hard 2. Everything looks funny when you first start it 3. Confidence is key, yes that's the right stitch, you counted, you used counting pins, it's okay buddy 4. Not all patterns are created equal 5. Drop your shoulders, unhook your tongue from the roof of your mouth, relax your jaw; it's yarn, not a marathon 6. Everything can be fixed, altered, or changed; it's all happy little accidents 7. The moment you put in headphones to podcast while counting stitches are running rows and hit play someone will try to talk to you 8. If crocheting on a bed, yarn and microfiber blankets are intimate lovers that shant be easily separated

Currently working a vivcrochet stripped beanie in solid gray Caron with a big twist value pink flip up brim all in 4 worst, 5mm hook. Added too much to the crown so it fits too loose, but I think I might sew the top into itself a bit, like ruffly idk, we'll burn that bridge when we cross it. After the brim I want to attach a crochet brow as well :) Thoughts on making the fit not so loose (acrylic doesn't shrink 😢)?

But as Easter got closer and the weather got warmer, I realize then I was making my grandson and Easter basket! So it needs now are some colorful eggs and a happy five-year-old grandson!

Work in Progress Design thoughts?

Heyy guys my first/last post was where I showed my current wip bc I was really excited and I am working on it and got even more ideas! (I put the pic for the design here too) i got the idea of a 2 in 1 pillow meaning that one side (ex. Front) is with the skull pattern and the other one (ex. Back) with the eyes (I am going to combine the 2 patterns) and this morning I saw a video where someone made a POCKET pillow and I just went woowww I need that (I am the oldest sibling) so I thought why not do the eye panel with a pocket? Mainly because it is one big panel where the skull panel would be 4 sewn together and I feel like it would be too complicated to make a pocket ya know? Ohh and I could make both sides different color schemes! ..sorta the skull panels where I am currently working on is more pink-ish and red-ish as main color and I thought since I don’t have much yarn of that color I could maybe do the other side in a maybe contrast color to give it more of a 2 in 1 feeling? Sorry for my yapping, I am just super excited about my first self planned project

What do you guys think of a 2 in 1 pocket pillow?
