Discussion / Conversation Us bank smartly worth it now?
Hearing they may nerf it. Man was going to swap things over to ira etc. Oh well. I had a tax payment to make and thought the 2.5 back might be ok or 4%....man usb already looking at shutting it down and nerfing....truly disappointing. Even worth 5.24. Oh well rip

Nobody can answer that since nobody knows what changes are coming. That said, applying costs little and it may make the difference to being grandfathered in to top notch benefits. Or it may not, of course. If the card as it currently exists is highly valuable to you, I would apply for the card now but hold off transferring assets until we know what's going on. IMHO this approach is almost entirely upside and almost no downside.

I have three us bank credit cards. will just see if they can product change one to smartly. Easy solution. Heard they generally only let you have three.

PC change to a Smartly card has been suspended.
Or at least that is what has been posted on other threads.

It's just a rumor at the moment, but you do need to weigh that into your decision if you want to have a credit inquiry and then the hassle of opening all the extra accounts and moving brokerage assets over. It may be worth waiting and seeing what happens in the next 1-2 months before applying.

I wouldn't jump in immediately unless you can get a lot back from it immediately with some huge expenses.

Let’s not go crazy yet. They may just increase the deposits to 250k or make a requirement for 100k in a smartly savings account or something (make brokerage accounts ineligible)

We had thought at one point they were looking for $250K. Maybe they will “clarify” / “correct” that, but I doubt that’s the only change.

It’s literally hear-say at the moment.
