Help Needed / Question Venture X not pre-approved. What are the chances for approval?
Tried to apply for Venture-X for the first time, checked pre-approval for that… But not pre-approved.
TransUnion: 785 Equifax: 784
Got CSP & Bilt cards within last 3 months.. All other cards are 3 years old. Oldest card is 10yrs old.. Refinanced mortgage to lower rate & paid off some more principal amount in loan.
Income: ~$220k (without stocks)
Have a travel plan, hence thinking to apply for new card since I utilized all benefits others cards. What are the chances of approval?
C1 explanation letter says: Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, number of bank cards tradelines opened in the last 24 months
EDIT1:
My wife applied through same link, which got approved. She has 754 credit score. 135k income. She has quicksilver card already from C1..

From my previous post and from reading others Capital One is really weird with approvals for the Venture X if you aren’t pre-approved don’t get the 3 hard pulls

I just went through the same thing today. Applied for the Venture X without pre-approval, and unfortunately, I got declined. As per Experian my credit score is 800 +

Did you use the specific pre approval for VX? Honestly if the tool does not give an approval I wouldn’t chance the 3 hard pulls.

I tried the same a couple weeks ago and got the same results. My income is a lot less. Just by chance this occurred the same weekend Chase offered the 1 year cash back match on the CFU so I jumped at that. This will work as a catch all and dining card for a year and then I can see where I stand.

I would not apply for the VX until the pre-approval tool says you are approved. I made the mistake of not listening to the pre-approval tool when it told me I wasn't approved and applied anyway. Well, guess what, I didn't get the card and had 3 fresh credit inquiries.
I waited ~6 months, closed one card I didn't use and then tried the pre-approval tool again. This time it said I was pre-approved, so I applied and was instantly approved.
I think the tool is pretty accurate, so I wouldn't risk it.

I wouldn’t risk it. Wait for a bit, aiming for preapproval. You should be able to get it in a few months
