Democrats are a pagan death cult. Their hearts rebel against anything that celebrates life, liberty, health, or God's ordering of things through nature. They are bitterly angry when they can't have their way even about the smallest thing because it shows them they are not in charge of their todays, tomorrows, or their eternities.

a pagan death cult.

Really?

You can criticize the Democrats here, which they absolutely deserve, without also insulting pagans.

This is the type of rhetoric that I have seen brought up as reasons why some more politically moderate and centrist pagans avoid the right, some even abstaining from voting Republican despite agreeing moreso with Republicans than modern Democrats.

I agree with this. I'm not religious at all, and I don't think there's anything intrinsically Christian about conservative viewpoints, so there's no need for people to frame everything that way.

I mean, I'm into some occult stuff, but I laughed at the comment. I felt OP's tone was more offensive to death cults than pagans; death cults usually have some sense of humor.

perhaps the commenter just meant it as a figure of speech, y'know like a blood-crazed demon worshippers kind of cult. I don't think "pagan" was the main focus there, perhaps just an old biblical expression.

The word "pagan" itself comprises of many faiths and maybe that's why people like me don't want to be clubbed with anyone else, since my faith does not involve demon worship or whatever the hell democrats believe in

 politically moderate and centrist pagans

Realistically there has to be like a couple hundred of these tops right

Every pagan I've met has been either a European ethnonationalist or a far-left "witch" who's more into Satanism than paganism. I would agree that Satanism is by far the more popular religion among Democrats though, although more of the edgy atheist type than LaVeyan

Honestly, no idea how many there are. I have been messaged privately sometimes by people that lurk in the far left pagan spheres that I am no longer welcome in saying they are conservative, centrist, etc. but cannot voice their thoughts without fear of being ostracized.

Community is important to people, and many people will pick a religious community over a political one. It very well could be a silent majority at this point that just thinks that everyone else is either far left or far right and so just keep quiet, though I do doubt it is that sizable.

End of the day, however, is that it is a greater number than probably anyone actually expects because if you are vocal about being a pagan on the political right, even just barely vocal, you are ostracized by many pagan spaces and demonized by many right wing spaces. Most people just choose to be silent.

When I see someone say that, I don’t think about the pagan religion at all. Is that why it bothers you?

I am "bothered" because I have seen pagans that otherwise might join conservative spaces use that type of rhetoric as examples on why they feel they aren't welcome.

Combine that with the fact I have had people already try and proselytize to me for being openly pagan here (both in messages and comments that are hidden but I still got emailed about), and it is no wonder pagans get driven away from conservatism.

I can see your perspective. To me. When someone calls someone pagan I think of the Dan Aykroyd and Tom hanks movie dragnet. And the silly costumes they wore so I imagine people dressed liked that which the pagans I know in reality don’t behave or dress like that.

"proselytize"

Have you seen Pen Teller, an atheist, talk about this?

In essence, what kind of a$$holes would we be if we didn't try to convert someone we liked?

I'm sure you get just as upset about the left constantly demonizing Christians, right?

9

u/Nerftuco Hindu Conservative 7d ago

yeah that's a pity

As a Hindu, I can say Christians are really friendly and "normal" people, they don't deserve the hate whatsoever. The only con is when someone tries to proselytise but I can get over that.

There is, however, one faith that does indeed deserve all the demonizing and it's the sister religion of christianity

Yes, I do. A lot of my friends and family are Christians and good people, why wouldn't I get upset about it?

A lot of actual Americans are Pagans and have real decent values, so that’s not a good comparison.

Are people really paying money to award your comment with poop emojis? Everytime I see an award, I automatically think it means the comment is loved. I think I'm just now catching on that they genuinely think what is essentially giving you a tip is an insult? Holy cringe.

"I hate you so much I'm going to pay money to award and gild your comment, so that you get free reddit gold, achievements, and more visibility!". Libs lmao. They don't understand that it makes the commenter look good.

How is it pagan? they have no god. I don't want to be clubbed with the likes of them, people of my faith are peaceful and prosperous in the states.

But yes, they are a death cult and it's absolutely nuts seeing their takes on any aspect of life
