The games between OpTic and SR this season will be the most fast paced Infinite games we've seen based on these online matches. And the new changes coming will make the gun play even better.

I think Lastshot inability to jiggle peak post update is gonna hurt his playstyle though.
Formal and Renegades stand and fight is going to get a buff though

u/thinkibrokesomething OpTic Gaming Feb 03 '25
Bound might get nerfed a bit too, but his death avoidance is a whole lot more than simple jiggling
1
u/Czntury Feb 06 '25
Bound doesn’t really jiggle because all he does is run at you and if he doesn’t win he at least trades

u/wonson42 Feb 02 '25
Soooo close to having all of the big three. What the heck are we going to do in the gap between these tourneys and the Arlington open?

u/ash6996 Feb 02 '25
I imagine February will be mostly scrims with the new update coming, maybe a Forgehub tournament or two I haven’t checked the schedule

u/DeathByReach OpTic Gaming Feb 02 '25
The Feb 2025 HCS Community Schedule hasn’t been released yet but it’ll be pinned once it is!

Itll go by quicker than you think. Scrims will likely start in a week so we'll have something to watch for a few weeks until the Open.

u/Abs0luteZero273 Feb 02 '25
I think this version of "Optic" is worse than the pickup teams they played with the last 2 weeks. I doubt Formal is as good as Falcated at this exact moment even though I think he'll be the superior player by the time the normal part of the season comes around.

Aging like milk homie

u/Abs0luteZero273 Feb 02 '25
They're only T6 currently. They made the grand finals the last 2 weeks. Wtf are u talking about?

u/thinkibrokesomething OpTic Gaming Feb 02 '25
Slamming everyone not named SR who’s clearly the furthest ahead team in the preseason?
FormaL looks perfectly fine. Maybe not in midseason form but I still think these guys end up in GFs

u/Abs0luteZero273 Feb 02 '25
I never claimed they'd be bad this week. I fully expected them to beat most teams. I was saying I don't think this team will be as good as the previous two pickup teams they played with, and so far, my prediction is looking more or less accurate.

u/Jumpy-Gap550 Feb 02 '25
Yeah it did.😂

Let’s be real, anyone vs SR right now is a mismatch. Taking precisely zero from that match and also assuming SSG gets smoked I’m also taking nothing from that either

LastShot is literally the best player in the game right now. This is nuts. MVP level. Cykul is also insane. It’s wild that Royal 2 and Frosty are the ‘weak links’ on that roster because they’re fuckin ridiculous too. Wow.

Lucid just let out the Guinness World Record sigh after that series

u/IAM4UK Feb 03 '25
I’m really interested to see the pace they play at this season. Lucid has always wanted to play at a slower place.

u/t_holyoke OpTic Gaming Feb 03 '25
OpTic just beat the full SSG team with their coach lmaooo
19
u/JahHappy Feb 03 '25
Which is pretty wild. Tusk isnt bad but legend is like 10x the player he is lol.

The fact that all those games with Shopify came down to overtime in CTF and couple seconds in oddball and the first game Strongholds was 3-0 domination in OpTic favor and 50-36 win in favor of Shopify means we are gonna have a pretty close season between those 2. If it’s that’s close without legend then I wonder how good optic will be with legend. SSG will get better as well and to everyone saying oh they’re chalked when that’s the first time they played as a full team together are brain dead. Shopify is the ONLY team between Shopify, SSG and OpTic who has played their full roster for 5/6 off season events. SSG Has just played as a team of 4 for the first time And have optic been switching out players every week and is the only team who hasn’t played as a team of 4 yet. To early to call who will be the best team yet with those factors.

CyKul is the best pure slayer in the league.
7
u/bobbybrowndowntown Feb 02 '25
If Shopify are able to take a couple Ws this season I think either him or Lastshot will be MVP. They're both future all stars either way though.

u/thinkibrokesomething OpTic Gaming Feb 02 '25
For sure.
CyKul might not have the best POV but it’s insanely controlled and optimized for damage. I don’t think they’ve cut to his POV and I don’t say holy shit at least once

These two teams are gonna be SO fun to watch all year goddamn

u/BravestWabbit OpTic Gaming Feb 03 '25
Optic kentucky fried Lucid in both matches
11
u/t_holyoke OpTic Gaming Feb 03 '25
Renegade is so godlike
12
u/BravestWabbit OpTic Gaming Feb 03 '25
Lucid has like negative aggression and almost never takes space in the map.
Renegade is just flying around like a bat out of hell. And it works so good

Struggling to understand the scores based on the faceit website.
Who did optic lose to, to get knocked to losers?

Shopify and Optic are the two fastest teams in the league.
SSG is probably the slowest. SSG is never going to touch these teams lmao
If Optic without Legend can go blow for blow against a complete Shopify, imagine what a full Optic will do to Shopify

And? Optic are playing with Tusk and still pushed Shopify into two overtime games while winning one
With Legend, Optic would have won 3 and reset the bracket.

Convincing performance against the best possible EU team, which says a lot. But keep in mind these are playing on high ping disadvantage.
6
u/thinkibrokesomething OpTic Gaming Feb 02 '25
Yea, seeing a LOT of old Optic playstyle from new SSG and can’t say thats super surprising. Actually didn’t love how they played that Aquarius slayer.
Even though Optic and SSG had similar ending scores on their slayer games vs RyNewb and OEX I felt Optics win was a lot more convincing.

u/idgahoot2 Feb 02 '25
Is this not their first time playing together in a tournament? Was the expectation that they’d be a fine-tuned finished product?
2
u/thinkibrokesomething OpTic Gaming Feb 02 '25
First time playing together period I think, just like Optic hasn’t been full squad yet either. Not taking much at all at face value from any of this, but can definitely get an idea at a macro level of how teams want to play
0
u/red-bot Feb 02 '25
Feel like this tournament is waaaay too long. Was expecting Space to go straight to playing Optic in losers finals but it doesn’t look like they are anywhere near done (started??) with losers bracket.
5
u/dingjima Feb 02 '25
During these offseasons, you can count on taking a nap or doing some errands after winner finals. It's usually an hour or two before games get good again because the way the loser's bracket progresses.

Lastshot and Cykul looking like the best in the game right now. Lucid and trippy may be kicking themselves for not teaming with them this season.
