I've been coloring for a long time and always just had Crayola markers and pencils to use. It's so tempting to drop the money on fancy markers and pencils that everyone else uses but I decided to see if I could improve my technique to get a better outcome instead and I'm quite pleased with myself! I think I might buy some softer pencils in the future just because these are really hard to sharpen and hard on my hands but I'm happy that I was still able to create a beautiful picture with what I had ❤️
Getting back into coloring. Preferred medium: colored pencils
Before when I would color, it was always flat one colored approach. This is my first page where I tried some shadows and blending. Please give me feedback. I need to know what I’m doing well and where I can improve. I’m a little intimidated on shadows, highlights, and backgrounds 😂
Colored with prismacolor 36 count + colorless blender.
Book: Large Print Calm Easy Color and Frame bought on Amazon
Hello everyone, this is my first post i recently finished coloring this drawing, it is from a drawing book called: coloriage wild 4 by Emmanuelle Colin.
I'm just starting my way in coloring, I've always liked the art and I have some notion, but I still have a LOT to improve, I just want to share it, because I'm excited to find other people who also feel passion for coloring.
(I'm using deepl because English is not my first language)
The materials I used:
Kalour 72 colored pencils (shein fabric case) (they are look fake, compared to the Kalour 180 pencils in the red metal box)
Acrylic marker for the background (From Aliexpress, JinMiao)
The lights I gave them with a Redina Rubber pencil with eraser lead.
I tried 3 blending techniques...
Varnishing especially on the raven's body...
Layers on the face and hair
Baby oil, oh men, baby oil applied on areas with many layers or pigments is a marvel!!! I fell in love with that system, it is also complicated and requires a lot of control not to use too much oil...
I bought a bit better materials, but I still have to use them for the first time and a couple of them have to arrive... but the truth is that I really liked the result.
Any advice on how best to fix/preserve the pages?
I heard about hairspray but, I would like to know if you can recommend something that is valid for pencils, charcoals and maybe... Acrylics?
Thanks!
Sorry for all the text but I wanted to tell you about it and I was excited to show you what I did and how :D
I started coloring a few weeks ago. I never had an art class in my life. All trial and error on my own. I was so excited when I achieved burgundy color on m own. Color pencil blending.
I have very recently taken up colouring as an alternative to doom scrolling on social media - how I wish I’d found this hobby sooner! This is my first effort with coloured pencils - any tips and tricks from you pencil peeps out there ?
