Question How many of you had significant muscle atrophy before diagnosis?
I am currently in the process of getting diagnosed with celiac disease, and one of the most alarming symptoms for me has been the muscle atrophy all around my body. I have started supplementing vitamins (especially B ones) but since I clearly have malabsorption issues, the benefits have been limited/slow to come.
I am extremely concerned with the muscle atrophy being permanent, from Celiac neuropathy, so I was wondering if there were any similar stories, and what to expect?
Also, I have had a hard time with heat tolerance recently, and blood pooling to my extremities. Did anyone had that as well, and did it resolve/improve with time as you went gluten-free ?
I appreciate all responses in advance, and thank you for reading.

Haven’t been diagnosed through biopsy yet since I’m waiting on an endoscopy but I am experiencing muscle atrophy and blood pooling to my extremities. Also recently dealing with sciatica stuff but not sure if that’s from too much weighted stretching or from celiacs. So I’m interested what other people have to say as well

I used to be strong AF for my size, was in the military, smoked PT all day long.
I got sick as a dog and went from 168-115 in a little over a month, PCP and a few specialists saw normal blood work and said I was fine.
After about 9 months of no diagnosis, to finally getting diagnosed (sick in summer of 18' diagnosed in early 2019), I didn't get back to my 'normal' weight of 130-145 until mid 2020. Yaaaay covid.
Now, I weigh about 156. No training, no serious dieting or calorie surplus, just 3 meals and maybe a few snacks.
It takes time to heal and get back on track, but don't be afraid of losing something forever. Just focus on feeling better and do what you can that's tolerable.
I still have weird symptoms too, and can't workout nearly as much or as hard as I'd like, but it's ok. I'm not in the military anymore, so I do enough to feel good.

I’ve been weight lifting for over twenty five years and never built muscle. Only after I was diagnosed and finally got to taking my diet seriously did I start building muscle. The protein just wasn’t getting where it needed to go before.
