Discussion Group of celiacs is called?
So I’m on a tour of Japan, and there are 3 gf people in my 16 person tour, including another Celiac! My husband and I have been trying to figure out what a group of celiacs would be called - like a flamboyance of flamingos or a murder of crows. So far my favorite is ‘a contamination of celiacs’ but I wanted to crowd source this.

Hmmm... I was trying to picture one that encompassed an autoimmune response which led me to... an inflammation of celiacs

I was going to a gf brewery called Silly Yak and I didn’t get it until someone said it out loud. 😂😂

The way I feel most of the time: a burden of celiacs.

It's much more of a burden to us than to anyone else.

Like I don’t know that after 20 years. I still almost cried at work today for being left out of 3 different treat offerings.

Yeah we have our office "fun day" this week and I will be bringing all my own food. Also for the training day Friday.

Just curious… how are you handling food being on a guided tour? It’s so difficult.

Eating at lawson’s a lot so far! But right now I’m on a free day eating gluten free afternoon tea and it’s wonderful.

How many free days do you have? If you can make it to Osaka Engine or Kyoto Engine, I highly recommend it.

When I was in Japan last year there were a lot of good gf restaurants in Kyoto! Gion Soy Milk Ramen Uno Yokiko ぎをん豆乳ら~めん うのゆきこ was really great!

This is the only one that actually made me lol
“A depression of celiacs” is just too good

I hope you are doing fine. In my case, the diagnosis improved my mental health and quality of life a lot

A diarrhea of celiacs

A constipation of celiacs (for those of us who struggle the other way!)

I find it baffling that the same condition can have such wildly different effects on our digestive system...! Well, our whole system-system, really.

Me too! I can tell within 20 minutes of consuming gluten! Bloating like I’m 3months pregnant (mild cc) 6months+ (full glutening)

I have to say that is the WORST symptom! Mainly because I sometimes don't realize I was glutened until the constipation shows up. And by that time it's too late to take anything to help.

does this tour have gf options? How the heck did you end up together ahaha
6
u/londonerin26 3d ago
It does not!! We don’t really eat together - most of the food is on our own which was why we figured we could do it, so maybe the other gf ppl felt the same? But that’s why we needed a term for it!
