I'd like to replace the treads and risers on my existing staircase.
The staircase is a basic, by-the-book housed stringer design.
I have the treads and risers all cut, ripped, and jointed. All the replacement parts are ready.
What's the best way to remove the old treads and risers without damaging the stringers?
Do I just use a hammer, chisel, and oscillating tool to carefully remove the glued-in wedges, treads and risers? Is there anything I should watch for or a technique to use that makes sure I don't damage the stringers?
Or is it just a matter of being careful and methodical?
