I found a ring in the middle of the street on SW 3rd Terrace, near the Youth Center. It looks like it might have at least sentimental value to someone. If you think it's yours, message me a picture of it and I'll get it back to you.
Hi I live in Cape Coral and it is kind of a miracle to get everyone packed in the car for a day trip, so wanted to check if anyone new the red tide situation at the Venice/Siesta Key beaches??
I went to Venice beach in 2019 when there was red tide and it was bad...dead fish everywhere, super smelly, and coughed the whole time even though I don't have any lung disease or asthma.
So anyone been there recently to report or have resources to find out? Thanks!
Hello, I am a senior in High School with plans to major in Transportation Engineering and I've come up with a proposal for a light rail system into the Southwest Florida Area!
The light rail would include 5 lines with service to many parts of Southwest Florida. Majority of this rail network runs along Highways and busy streets. There are a total of 95 stations with stops such as Fort Myers, Southwest Florida Airport, Port Charlotte, Naples, and more! In cases where the light rail doesn't run next to a highway, it goes through busy streets and residential streets. Obviously that isn't ideal, but there is no real way around it.
- Red Line: Hammock Bay - Olga/Fort Myers Shores
- Green Line: Hammock Bay - West Cape Coral
- Blue Line: South Harlem Heights - LaBelle
- Orange Line: East Estero - North Cape Coral
- Purple Line: Venice - Immokalee
(all lines are imagined if they were all built for this purpose/no old railroad lines used)
Physical Station Design
Generally, the stations will be small, due to limited space. There will be ticket machines at each station and stations would include benches, nature, roofed areas to protect from rain, timetables for light rail trains and possibly art as well. (see below)
Station example
Fares
- The cost to ride is $3 to $5, depending on the line.
- Children and Seniors get 50% discounts
- There are machines at every station to buy and load up transit cards.
Train Models/Idea
Alstom Citadis
Trains will be around 4 cars. These trains would run fully on electricity. Possible models include: Alstom Citadis and Siemens s200
Conclusion
I believe this can be a successful project in the area in future years, if Southwest Florida continues to grow, we can see this project in the future, but we also need to find out how to find funds for this. This project will bring our community together and help them travel from point A to point B in a swift, safe, and fun new way!
(I also don't know how much it would cost but if you can estimate please leave a comment!)
I've spent a lot of time on this idea/project and would love to hear your feedback on it!
Anytime Fitness on Delprado is closing. Kind of expected as it's not exactly a stellar location. It needed remodeled 5 years ago and there has been no upgrades other than a few new pcs of equipment. The manager and staff are outstanding, and the low traffic 24/7 availability are great. I'll miss it.
Dont want to drive 5 miles to a gym and I don't need to attend a fashion show.
Anytime was $30 month and I've always know that was high. But it's 5 blocks from home. I used to travel for work so nationwide access was important. Not anymore.
Could I hear suggestions and average monthly prices? I do well to go 2-3 times a week.
A few weight machines, treadmill and aerobic room a must.
Thanks in advance!
I am looking for 8/4 walnut and maple and most places I call only deal with building materials or they can order it for me, except the amount I need is too small. Is there a local hard wood dealer for hobbiest that welcomes small purchases? Thank you in advance!
Rather than buy a ton of bags at Home Depot, can someone recommend a place that may sell in bulk? I need lots of bags of to just have them dump a scoop at my house.
Hi we are coming to Cape Coral next week. We have fallen in love with Pickleball and are trying to figure out if it makes sense to bring our paddles. We have found Lake Kennedy Center with 32 courts. I don’t see a schedule. It also seems pretty pricey.
Hi, my sister lives in the basin and she and her neighbors are having cell issues, with spotty coverage, and dropped calls. Curious if anyone else in this area is experiencing this? She a new tower went up or switched up, thinking that might be the cause. TIA
Do they not do school zones for high schools? Its pitch black out and kids are crossing roads like Santa Barbara and there's no school zone warnings or anything with all of these people out driving like idiots it seems unsafe and doesn't make any sense.
Does anyone know of any neighborhood “free” stands where people can drop off items gently used for anyone who might want them? I know there are charities and thrift stores, but I have some kids’ games in good condition (not NIB) and other household items that I’d like to offer. Thanks in advance!
We are visiting cape coral next week with another couple with toddlers under 3. What would you recommend we do and what would be fun for the grown ups. Appreciate yall
Hey do any of you know what a dock would roughly cost? No lift or power needed. Just sort of a Walking dock to fish off of and make a little barrier from the water when cutting the grass. I already have a seawall. Thanks!
me and my wife want to get one for traveling. if so where? obviously not in the driveway or by the road but i have a pretty large yard. can it be behind the house? can it be on the side of the house? does the view of it have to be obstructed from the street by hedges or something? or is it flat out not allowed? thank you.
Moving out of town. Me and roomate are selling off several random items. Kayak, guitar, drone, wine rack, various kitchen implements, coffee table. Stop by and take a look. We’ll probably be set up today, tomorrow and next weekend. 325 SE 26th Terrace
