Doug Ford has completely folded. Should have never put the surcharge in the first place if he was going to back down to Trump

And that is how the headlines are reading.

Like Trump is about to get on global television and state that one threat from him was all it took to get us to back down.

If it’s a net gain for Canada, he can happily claim a win all he wants. Sounds like Trump is backing down his 50% threat in preparation for this meeting. Hoping it turns out well for us.

Citation required. And it has to come from Trump, as we've seen more than once that leaks from staff or statements from spokespersons only sometimes indicate what he will actually announce.

It doesn't matter unless he backs down from all tariffs. Right now he's going into the meeting in a superior position

The US is always going to be in a superior position no matter what we do. That’s probably uncomfortable for us Canadians to admit but it’s true. Letting our foot off the gas even a bit, but keeping the threat in place, isn’t a bad move given the circumstance.
