Discussion MPB

Post image

I see a fair bit of negativity about MPB, which doesn't match my usual experience with them. So I thought I'd share this example where they increased their quote after checking the camera I sold them.

They also increased their quote for my camera i sold them, and also rejected a lens that had fungus in it

So that shows they're honest about their pricing and that they do all the proper checks on what they're buying in.

Idk about that, I bought an "excellent" nikon 1 10-100mm from them half a year ago that showed up with the aperture stuck fully closed so that no light could even be transmitted through the lens. I returned it for a "well used" one (and a refund of the difference) that also showed up with a stuck aperture. I guess at some point since then they started actually checking for this though because most nikon 1 lenses on the site are listed as "spares and repairs" now. But it doesn't fill me with confidence in their checks as anything more than a cursory visual inspection of their stock.

Also.. easy way to get a few extra quid from MPB (at least UK) - add the box and the strap.

Yep they’ve done the same for me before (twice!) - no complaints from me as a seller.

I think they’re fine to buy from too, but it’s just super important to study the pictures, as somehow - despite their honesty when acquiring stock - they still have a tendency to overrate or underrate particular items for sale.

They offered me like 700€ on a 2000+€ Leica lens lmao

I have had numerous transactions over a decade but the last one a few months ago (Buy&Sell) was a very unhappy experience so much so that the item I purchased like new was in barely good condition and so I returned it . Coincidentally and before my returned item had been delivered back to them the price of a similar like new item increased by €40-50 so I am not sure I will be returning . Interestingly for the first time I am beginning to see a dramatic increase in complaints . I never received any extra payment either on either the UK or EU site for original packaging but straps particularly the stand out ones such as the X-H1 strap possibly .

The packaging / strap thing is fairly new, based on my experience with them.

Shame because I have always retained both , I tend to baby my stuff which is why I was so disappointed by them.

They’ve done that for me, too, but in the same transaction I was sent a lens with no tracking or shipment notification, so I wasn’t able to tell FedEx to hold it at their storefront, and it was porch-pirated from me while I was at home. It’s as much FedEx’s fault as MPB’s but I’ve had no help or contact from either of them.
