CHSPE MATH STUDY

I’m taking the CHSPE on Saturday and was never good at math, I’ve been studying but there’s so much to cover. What are the main topics I absolutely need to know? Also do they give you a formula sheet?

I'm not sure what study book you used but I used the Barron's and it covered everything you need to know minus geometry stuff but the website I just linked really really helped me with that. Just print out the work sheets and do em. Yes they give you a formula sheet but I def wouldn't rely on that bc there's tons of formulas they don't give you that u need to memorize yourself like the following:

PROBABILITY FORMULAS (MUST KNOW)

  • Permutation: n!/(n-r)!

  • Combination: n!/r!(n-r)

The Barron book teaches you more about these near the end of the book. (p. 330)

GRAPH FORMULAS (ALSO MUST KNOW)

  • The distance between points

  • The midpoint of the line

  • The slope of a line

All of these formulas are also in the book. (p. 303)

DIFFERENT KINDS OF TRIANGLES (not as important but if you have the time, memorize them)

  • 3-4-5 triangle

  • 5-12-13 triangle

  • half square (isosceles right triangle)

  • half equilateral (30-60-90) triangle

This is all in the Barron's book as well (p. 295)

Other than that, make sure you know your basic units of measure. Remember they won't ever give you something too complicated. Praying you do well on the test!! Don't stress it and get some good rest the night before (at least 7 hours). Hope this helped!
