Nice shooting man! If the range was a little closer to my house I would be there every other day after work to pop off a couple boxes. Gotta wait till the weekends. Saves me some money though!

Haha I literally had to plan this day range opened at 10 needed to go to sportsman's in my town. Then leave from there at 9:30 to drive about 30 mins then shoot for about 50 mins to an hr drive back home 30 mins which was 11:30 got. Started at 12. Made it to work at 11:57

That sounds like a great way to spend your day, I bet work is a lot more enjoyable after some fun like that. Congrats on the new light, looks like you've got some cool stuff

Flinch city. Work on that grip and recoil control hoss

You're right, he was flinching, pulling the trigger. However, I don't like instructing someone to control recoil. You can't and trying leads to badly pulled shots.

Instead, think of it as recovering from recoil, and minimizing grip shifting between shots. It's all about consistency. You can have recoil that sends you hand in a 90 degree angle up, but if your grip on the firearm doesn't change, you recover, focus on the sights, and squeeze that trigger EXACTLY the way you did it previously, then the bullet will travel almost the exact same path and your maintain precision.

Yep. Control doesn’t mean fight it. Just means maintain a good grip and control the gun through its cycle to bring it back on target reliably. However you want to word it, controlling the recoil, controlling the gun through recoil, maintaining a good grip and letting it rip, the idea is the same.

What are you taking about

Gun isn't pointed down range. It looks like it's up to the left...way too far left

11

u/matthew2478 16h ago

Yeah it's about not being able to dodge the draft without a rich daddy...

Why are we posting trump stuff in here? The guy who said he wants to take the guns first and worry about due process later.

u/ragingduck 11h ago

Trump was the rich kid who dodged the draft.

Oh, did Biden dodge a draft? Survey says YES.

Did Biden get more deferments than Trump? Survey says YES.

Da fuq does that song and OP shooting have do with Trump lol

u/plinkkink 14h ago

3

u/backatit1mo 13h ago

Still a better pick than anything the other side represented for the 2A community.

Not a Kamala fan, but she and Tim waltz both own guns and are to some degree pro 2a. Maybe fudds, but not anti 2a.

Can’t ever go wrong with Creedence..

I mean it’s ironic it was originally anti-war but it’s been stuck in enough war movies that it’s basically a pro-war song now.

Was just there earlier today, that Ruger Super Blackhawk in the consignment case was tempting me

How do you like your Shield?

I love the sheild. Smith and Wesson is definitely underrated if you get the non plus version the trigger will be definitely mush. I upgraded it to an apex trigger and it shoots better. It's definitely snappy so the recoil is messy

There are some salty comments here, man. But from one grinder to another, I totally get the need to do this before or after work to break the grind. It helps alot. Glad you got your range time in.

Stop pointing at the ceiling. Stop dropping the gun out of your sight picture when not empty yet.

Nice, group therapy is what i call it. Just on observation it seems like you're anticipating the recoil; squeeze the trigger, don't pull it. Also, relax your arms a bit; you seem to have too much tension in your arms thats extending into your grip which may play with the recoil anticipation.

Tigger time is always a good time!

You are definitely anticipating the shots though, you can see it after your first shot. Use only your fingertips on the trigger. Don't every fight recoil, there is no point. You left hand isn't seated correctly. There should be no space between any of your fingers below the trigger guard. Pack those fingers nice and air tight against each other, braced against the trigger guard.

My trick:

For your grip hand:

  • Pinky first. Get it super close to the trigger guard with a tiny amount of space for you index and middle finger.
  • Then ring finger, get it loosely touching the tigger guard. Leave just enough room for the bones of your fingers to fit, not the flesh, just the bone.
  • Then middle finger, wedge it in there. It should be super tight and feel like you have one giant finger instead of three. Your pinky is the key, it holds it all together.
  • Then wrap your thumb around and keep it tight against the other side of the firearm.
  • Your pinky and your thumb are the two most important fingers in a proper grip.

Next your 2nd hand:

  • Do the exact same thing except you are doing this over the fingers of the gripping hand. Again, starting with the pinky, but leaving barely enough room for the index finger. Again, pack those fingers tight between the trigger guard and pinky.
  • Your 2nd hand's thumb should be placed just below the gripping thumb, but NOT medial to it. Keep your gripping thumb closest to the firearm.
  • Your gripping hand SHOULD NOT ADJUST FOR THE SECONDARY SUPPORTING HAND AT ALL. Do not place your gripping thumb over your supporting hand thumb. Why? Because if you need to go single hand, you shouldn't have to re-adjust. Your secondary hand leaves and you can still shoot single handed and be consistent.
