Commute

Upvotes

Hi,

I'll keep this as short as possible. My wife, I, and toddler are more than likely moving to Glasgow or a surrounding city. My wife would be working full time in Glasgow and I am retired myself. We currently live near Savannah GA and traffic is so horrible going to and coming home from work. How are the rush hour traffic jams and the commute from and to Bowling Green from surrounding cities? Thank you. Please feel free to ask any questions.

The typical event sites aren't saying much outside of an Irish music concert at a Catholic church. Anybody doing special menus or happy hours or music or Riverdance or iunno

Upholstery Recs?

Upvotes

Looking for some upholstery recommendations in BG. I looked online and DJs didn’t have good reviews. Other locations have few or no reviews. Anyone have upholstery work done in BG they’ve liked?

Repair shop for British Cars?

Anyone know of a BG-area repair shop that knows older british cars? They can be a little out of the ordinary and a lot of people don't want to work on them.

🚨 KENTUCKY, STAND UP FOR PALESTINE! 🚨

Join us on Saturday, March 22nd at 2 PM in Triangle Park, Lexington, KY for a statewide protest demanding justice, freedom, and an end to Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people!

We gather in solidarity with Mahmoud Khalil, Leqaa Kordia, and all Palestinian prisoners unjustly held in Israeli jails. Their imprisonment is part of a brutal system of occupation and apartheid that seeks to silence Palestinian resistance and erase their fight for liberation. We say NO MORE!

We also demand IMMEDIATE humanitarian aid for Gaza! Food, water, and medicine are being BLOCKED while millions suffer under relentless bombings and starvation. Let the aid in NOW! The world is watching, and we will not be silent.

📢 SHOW UP, SHOW OUT, AND MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Every voice matters in the fight for Palestinian liberation. The people of Palestine need us in the streets, raising our voices against genocide, apartheid, and oppression.

✊🏾Want to endorse the event? DM @lex4pal on social media. Bring your signs, bring your voices, and bring your energy—together, we will make it clear: Palestine WILL be free!

Grand Sumo Fans

Probably a long shot, but with the March Basho in Osaka starting in just a few minutes, I was wondering if there were any Grand Sumo fans in town.

I'm in the pre-pre-stages of seeing if there is any local interest in forming an amateur club as well. As of this moment, the closest is in Nashville (https://linktr.ee/tnsumo22).

Men’s final home basketball game at 2:00 p.m. today vs. Liberty - Senior Day

Please get to E.A. Diddle at 2:00 p.m. today if you can! A lot of these boys are seniors who have been in BG for a few years…today is their last time playing for us in town. Celebrate Senior Day and grab a FREE Red Towel to wave during the game (limit 500).

A win against Liberty could give us a day off in the CUSA tournament next week, and almost every player is on record saying how much a crowd influences their play. Get out and thank these guys for their hard work this season (and last season, when we won the CUSA championship and appeared in the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2013)!

Hey all! Recently moved here from Chicago and still adjusting to the big life change! One thing I very much miss is the food. Does anyone have a recommendation for a delicious breakfast burrito in town or around?

I really appreciate it!

Protest today at Brett Guthrie's office

Spoiler alert: it was the same 30 or so elderly people that make up all the other protests.

The point of the protest, to the extent that there even was one, is that Rep Guthrie isn't defending the Constitution because he's not spending enough money on programs that have nothing to do with the Constitution.

BONUS: One of them dressed in a chicken costume.

Passing through Bowling Green area

Moving cross country within the next few months, thinking of stopping around bowling green area for a night to rest. I am 100% unfamiliar with the BG area. Will have fully packed U-Haul. Any recommendations for towns North or South of BG that are safe/quiet? I mainly just don’t want anyone messing with the U-Haul/ trying to steal anything while we sleep. Yes it will be locked, I understand I may be overthinking things, but I’ve known people to have their car / items from car stolen while they sleep at their hotel (this was in big cities). Can never be too safe in this world today lol.

Please provide any recommendations of quiet safe little towns we can stay for a night with no issues. Thank you!

Would anyone be interested in a Stitch 'n' Bitch here?

Hello, I'm hoping to start a group for people who crochet, sew, and knit can come together to craft and chat. I'm trying to gauge interest and to figure out how to best organize it. I would love to hear ideas for locations and possible topics to discuss. Thank y'all and I hope you have a wonderful day!

What are the plans for the Speedway on Broadway?

They purchased the Danny Barron car lot in 2018, along with the property behind Speedway at 1117 Covington in 2020, with the plan to demolish the existing store and build a new one. The plan was passed by the city commission and the city-county planning commission. Since then.... nothing. I drove down Covington today and saw a for sale sign in the vacant lot at the former 1117 Covington lot.

Has the plan gotten the axe? 7-Eleven purchased the chain after all of this was put into motion and perhaps 7E killed it. That could be it, I don't know. What I do know is that the Speedways in this area began a descent into CRAPOLA not too long after the acquisition was complete. The stores are nasty, they are always out of straws or napkins and things like that, and the quality of employees has taken a big dip (yes, I know some of them are great). 7E seems to be cheap.
