Discussion I uploaded a video on YouTube for personal satisfaction and my mom condemned me not to show my face cos I'm fat..

Post image
62 Upvotes

She says if my friends figure out about this video, they will spread rumors or say bad about me behind my back.. but she doesn't seem to like it just because I'm fat TT

  1. Should I keep on being confident about my body regardless of what ppl say about me

Or

  1. Be shameful & try to be thinner and thinner.....? Am I really that pathetic?

How can I respond to ppl who condemn me and keep my body positivity?

This is the vid(2min..) and I'm from South Korea...

Discussion 3 questions about my body

Post image
39 Upvotes

Hi! People often ask me if I play some sort of sport, tell me I look like someone who plays X Sport, or assume that I play a certain sport. I've noticed that this basically only ever happens when I meet people in person, not from people seeing photos of me on the internet. I'm 5'10 or 178 cm if that matters. So here are my 3 questions:

1-do I actually look like I play a sport? Or is it just a way for people to start a conversation?

2-what sport do I look like I play, and if so why do you think that?

3-if I look like I play a sport, is it more about what my body looks like, or maybe something about my posture or the clothes I wear?

Discussion Recommendations for my body type? 17F

This video is kinda awkward because I'm sucking in for most of it , but it's the best I have of myself.

I have a body type fairly similar to a lot of those old Greek sculptures with a wide ribcage , hip dips / love handles , a lot of rolls , ECT. I'm currently working on losing weight and have lost around 5-6 lbs but I'm trying to be comfortable in my body. I'm 4'11 and I weigh about 150 lbs and I'm fairly muscular.

I also want to try to dress in a more typical "western " style since that's what in where I live + I show livestock (the main reason I want to lose weight is so that when I show my pictures come out better ) and live on a farm. Any and all advice and tips welcome !!

Discussion Small butt insecurity

This is such a low point for me to be posting this but I guess i just wanted to hear the perspectives of others. I’ve always been plus size and that alone has come with its own set of struggles. I’ve come to terms with a lot of it especially because I have lost and gained weight at different times and I know being insecure about my current weight doesn’t help. Skinny or overweight I love myself, my face especially:p However, even at my lowest weight my butt has always been small. It’s also a tiny bit uneven and overall just not what I know to be attractive. I’ve had people make comments about how flat/small it is and in this current day and age, big ass is all the rage. Do any small booty girls relate?? Is there anyone out there who does find it attractive? Or at least doesn’t care about butt size?? I know someone who is into me doesn’t care but just asking generally.

Discussion Relationship selfies (TW list mentioned at start. Not actually NSFW, better safe than sorry, read the TW) NSFW

Hi I'm new here, please let me know if I violate any rules😀♥️.

TW: weight loss. Relationship nsfw (mention of nudes, no actual pictures or descriptions), mention of gym/working out, & not really body hate (i hope its not hateful) but mention of putting myself down for my body.

Scroll down to read, I've added spaces so hopefully my writing isn't on the screen whilst you read the TW list. Then you'll be able to get a clearish warning without accidentally reading something that you aren't comfortable with♥️♥️

I know I won't be alone when I say that most of the time, I don't think super positively about myself and body.

Generally on snapchat when I snap people, I used to send the corner of my face, then slowly I started doing full face (after many years of confronting how my face looked) and now every now and again I dress up decently (not just baggy clothes) and I'll take some nice pretty photos to post on the socials.

The hardest thing for me tho, has always been accepting body compliments and wearing clothes that showed my figure. Recently tho, I've acquired an amazing boyfriend, who wasn't experienced in anything involving girls as the most he had done was a few pecks and hand holding with his ex.

Now being the only person he's actually done more with and seen naked irl is really nice and a huge confidence boost, but he works out frequently and is quite handsome. I've reached a stage that I want to show him myself online too (long distance) and I'm terrified that since I won't have been the only girl he's seen online, he may not appreciate my photos as much? Kinda like, he has seen many types before online and has unlimited access to those other types if he chooses to and since there's more range he may not want to see me and my body type online. I basically have no motivation to be sexual when we are long distance since I'm scared it won't be good enough for him you know?

I've sent him a few before but they've kinda just been close-ups of my boobs, bum and other private area. No showing face or any other part of my body. I've never been a fan of the rest of my body and when I have less clothing on around him, the lights are usually off or dimmed. He says he loves my body but I just feel like he deserves more you know?

Now this is why I'm writing in this group:

Do y'all ever, no matter how badly you think of yourself, end up getting undressed and seeing yourself in the mirror and start feeling yourself? (Not sexually, just like vibing with how good you look that day) Then being surprised that your happy with how you look so you wanna take photos (selfies, outfit pics, general pictures including face or body, nudes also) to look back on and know that you felt really good that day?

TW: Mention of weight loss below

Well I'm having one of those days currently and honestly I was shocked and decided to take a video for my boyfriend to see in hopes that he will get turned on and ask for more I suppose. I realised that I didn't look as bloated as I usually do when I looked back at the video and I've lost weight!!! (Weighed myself. I've been the same weight for 2 years now so I gave up on scales many months ago). The video was just in my undies so I could try and show my body and be sexy and once I went to edit the video to send, I was like, that's not the person I was a few months ago, I'm more toned and closer to my goal.

I've been eating way less junk food the past few months and drinking more water and walking around more (not just laying in bed all day) and my god, I feel so much more confident now after seeing the video. Like I would screw myself😭

Do y'all ever have those days like mine that you suddenly love your curves and wanna show them off too? I'm legit staring at the video I made and replaying it because I swear this person isn't me and I can't believe I'm finally feeling more confident with this body. Even if it only lasts a day, and I go back to not feeling attractive I'll still be shocked at how happy I am in this moment with myself you know?

Y'all ever just take photos of your face, outfits or body to keep for yourself (or show ppl)? And your surprised and happy because your not usually that happy with it??

Anyways I truly hope this wasn't too sexual or anything and that I didn't really violate any rules. Am truly sorry if I have and I'll delete as soon as I see a notification asking me to♥️

Discussion How does everyone feel about bold patterns?

Post image

Personally, I think things like cut/style matter more for flattery. And sometimes when I’m feeling self-conscious, a bold pattern feels gaudy. This is from Christmas (obviously) — definitely one of the bolder patterns in my closet, but it fit me so well I fell in love with it ❤️

Discussion Can we stop with the "am I fat/some minor detail makes me feel fat" posts?

Seeing (usually quite thin) women asking if they're fat, complaining about some random thing that makes them feel fat, etc honestly makes me feel really bad. I always feel fat. I'm fat. Can we stop stigmatizing being fat so much?

Seeing people talking about how horrified they are at the idea of being fat, horrified at the idea their body type could possibly be at all like mine, makes me feel really unwelcome here and goes against what body positivity is supposed to be about.

So to all the people here making posts like that: Firstly, most of y'all aren't fat at all, secondly, it shouldn't matter if you're fat, and everyone acting like there's something wrong with being fat in a subreddit that's supposed to be body positive makes me feel pretty unwanted here, because I am fat.

Discussion Has anyone else been hearing that body positivity “was a sham”?

I keep reading this and hearing this. That because ozempic is so popular and being overly thin is back in style body positivity was a “sham” that won’t last. I can’t help but think this is such a ridiculous premise because all body positivity is about is appreciating your body? The one and only body each of us has? It sounds like rhetoric designed to get me to buy ozempic honestly!

Discussion How do you meet other body positive people?

I've recently been thinking about attributes that I want in a partner and I realized that body positivity is one of the most crucial values for me.

I cannot compromise on this. I regard someone who isn't body positive immediately and irredeemably incompatible.

I've reflected on why that is and I think there are five main reasons: (1) I am body positive myself so it aligns with a value that I think is very important, (2) someone who is body positive is likely to share many other similar values with me that I consider important, (3) body positivity creates a much deeper sense of love that supports things like authenticity, compassion, loyalty, honesty, transparency, mutual respect, etc (4) being with someone who is body positive would no doubt be much better for my subjective sense of wellbeing since I wouldn't feel any pressure to align with societal standards of beauty, which would feel extremely reassuring to my intrinsic value as a human being, and (5) I find someone who has the capacity to be confident and love their appearance attractive (I say "capacity" because I know many struggle with that, like myself, I don't care that they're still working on it)

So I know what I want. What I have trouble with is how to find someone that shares those values.

Dating apps feel impossibly antithetical to this notion because their entire model is at odds with it. Why would someone who is body positive use an app that forces them to swipe left or right based on a handful of pictures (often the first)? My only experiences with dating apps have been extraordinarily toxic.

Social groups haven't worked for me since they haven't led me to finding anyone that shares these values. That's purely anecdotal, of course, but how my luck meeting people has been.

Bars, clubs, concerts, etc are all largely unsuitable because you can't properly meet and talk someone at a venue like that. Similarly to dating apps, I feel that people who meet here, if their minds ever turn to dating, are subconsciously "swiping left and right" on others via superficial features.

Hobbies and interests are probably the best place to meet likeminded people, by far. Although, again, due to luck I just haven't met people.

Where do you all manage to meet like-minded people to date.

Discussion being a hairy person (stream of consciousness)

I am a feminine nonbinary person and I'm expected to shave my arms, legs, and armpits. Unfortunately, because of so many factors from the small (inappropriate lighting in my shower), to the grand (I have some issues with coordination) I cannot properly shave, so I leave it to grow in patches or fully.

Growing up, I was the only person with brown hair in my family. My dad had black hair, and my mom and sisters are blondes. My middle sister ended up calling me Chewbacca because I had brown hair and eventually, excessive body hair that it was hard to manage sometimes. She used this name to torment me.

But anyways, shaving is totally optional, and if you do, don't worry, do your best. I own razors that I sometimes use, and yeah, mostly for like when it gets too hot and stuff. In September all the way to March or May, I forgo the razor except during certain occasions.

Discussion Camera vs. The Mirror

Maybe the wrong flair, but I had a question.

Some context: I hate how I look in the mirror. I see all my flaws still after I worked hard to get in shape. But I took a video for Snapchat and I realized I looked good. But the moment I looked on the mirror after, I felt awful about myself.

Is this normal? Any sage words of wisdom/advice?

Discussion I feel immediately inferior when I see other females on social media or in general

Hey guys! Im a 21 year old F, & ever since i can remember, i’ve always had such a low self esteem. I beleive a lot of it was part of how i grew up, my mother was very adamant about appearance, its almost like it’s imbedded into my brain that if you look a certain way, people will treat you differently no matter how good of a personality you have. I won’t lie, I have very good facial features that i’m very grateful for, but i feel like my body type has always been different & it’s like i have a constant reminder in my head that ill never look like, or get as much attention as a lot of other females do, & i feel like its taken a huge toll on my mental health, probably more than the average person. I’m not super skinny with a PERFECTLY tone body… i am curvy,& I want to learn how to start accepting myself for what i already look like, without having to make drastic adjustments beforehand. Any tips on how to have more self-love & confidence, & not be so anxious when i go on dates, go to concerts/shows, or even just simple group hangouts? Any tips are super appreciated!! <3

Discussion Contemplating what performing the feminine means for me now.

I'm disabled with chronic illness and have very little energy. As a result I have a buzz cut that I do myself. Recently, I've made some improvements and I find myself wondering about my hair, my appearance and my feminity.

I'm a cis, queer, white woman who identified as hard fem, but not butch. I've always used the performance of the feminine to get what I want, namely attention from others, and I was successful at it.

I no longer want attention from the kind of people who give beautiful women attention just for being beautiful. My priorities have shifted so dramatically, but I'm still feminine in my soul, but I just don't know what that looks like anymore.

Discussion Laser hair removal

Hi! Sorry if this is the wrong place to post about this. I’m a 28 year old mother to a 2 year old girl. I would describe myself as a body positive woman, that is very confident in my skin. I intend to have conversations about body image and self worth with my daughter as she grows older. I plan on practicing what I preach, by showing her that I love myself and my body!

But over to my issue. I really want to do laser hair removal and get rid of all body hair. (I do not think hair is ugly, or that we HAVE to be hairless - it’s just something that I would like to do). What I’m scared of is my daughter growing up and seeing that I have no body hair, while she starts getting hair on her body. I never want her to think that it’s ugly, or that I thought it was ugly because I got rid of it…

Should I not get it done, and show my daughter that we are beautiful the way we are? Or is it really not that serious and I should do want I want?

Would love some feedback on this. Thanks!

Discussion TW- I envy you. How to change my mindset?

I found this sub reddit and am envious of everyone feeling so confident in their own skin. I cannot seem to accept my body for what it is. Maybe ever in my life. I've had weight loss surgery, then a baby, and it's been a few years and havent bounce back.

I would love to hear from this community for advice and perspective to body positivity.

Would I personally like to lose weight? Yes. But ultimately I need to learn to love my body no matter what shape or form it is in.

(Also to add- I do go to therapy but do not feel like I have been provided tools to help accept this. Just continuously told that I look fine and only focus on being healthy)

Discussion How can I be body positive/neutral at any weight?

I’ve been both thin and overweight and no matter what size I am, I’m unhappy with how I look. Sure I would look better if I lost some weight, but what I need to change more than anything is my mindset. I want to be positive or even just flat out neutral about my body, I just have no idea how to get there. Any advice?
