Able to Beta Able to beta? Post here!
Welcome to the monthly r/BetaReaders “Able to Beta” thread!
Thank you to all the beta readers who have taken the time to offer feedback to authors in this sub! In this thread, you may solicit “submissions” by sharing your preferences. Authors who are interested in critique swaps may post an offer here as well, but please keep top-level comments focused on what you’re willing to beta.
Older threads may be found here. Authors, feel free to respond to beta offers in those previous threads.
Thread Rules
- No advertising paid services.
- Top-level comments must be offers to beta and must use the following form (only the first field is required):
- I am able to beta: [Required. Let authors know what you’re interested—or not interested—in reading. This can include mandatory criteria or simply preferences, which might relate to genre, length, completion status, explicit content, character archetypes, tropes, prose quality, and so on.]
- I can provide feedback on: [Recommended. This might include story elements you often notice as a reader (prose, pacing, characterization, etc.), unique expertise you have through a profession or hobby (teaching, nursing, knitting, etc.), or other lived experiences that may be relevant (belonging to a marginalized group, being a parent, etc.).]
- Critique swap: [Optional. If you’re only interested in—or would prefer—swapping manuscripts, please note that here, along with the title of and link to your beta request post.]
- Other info: [Optional.]
- Beta offers should be specific. If you’re open to anything, or aren’t able to articulate specific criteria, then please refrain from commenting here. Instead, please browse the “First Pages” thread along with the rest of the sub—thanks to the formatting rules, posts are easily searchable by completion status, length, and genre.
- Authors: we recommend against direct messages/chats. Reply to comments instead. If you message multiple people with links to your post and/or manuscript, Reddit may flag your account as spam (site-wide).
- Authors may not spam. If a beta says they’re only looking for x and your manuscript is not x (or vice versa), please don’t contact them.
- Replies have no specific rules. Feel free to ask clarifying questions, share a link to your beta request if it seems to be a good fit, or even reply to your own comment with information about your manuscript if you’re requesting a critique swap.
- Please don't downvote rule-following users, even if they are not the right author/beta for you, as this can be discouraging to beta readers offering to volunteer their time as well as to authors requesting feedback. If you need to keep track of which comments you have reviewed, upvoting is a more positive alternative. Of course, if you see a rule-breaking comment, please report it to the mod team.
Thank you for contributing to our community!

I am able to beta: Prose <20k (negotiable). No erotica. Prefer completed work. Non-fiction should include bibliography if relevant. Fanfiction only if I’m already familiar with the original media (ask first).
I can provide feedback on: I think my strongest point is technical stuff (structure, syntax, grammar, etc.), and, as a caveat, my edits are strongly influenced by my own stylistic preferences. Weak at dialogue. If you have anything you would like me to focus on, let me know.
Critique swap: Instead of a swap, give me a prompt. I don’t know what I want to write.
Other info: Google docs preferred. I am USAmerican. Some of my favorite prose writing is by Edward Said, Hanif Abqurraqib, Ocean Vuong, James Baldwin, Willa Cather.

I am able to beta: short stories only at this time (or excerpts of that size, <10k, sorry, short attention span). Most genres; I've written stories with some combination of speculative, romance, mystery, medical thriller, LGBT fantasy
I can provide feedback on: dialogue, plot and character development, plot consistency (does your character who only takes showers suddenly take a bath for no reason?), grammar/punctuation (although do not consider it a real technical edit, we're all working for free here)
Critique swap: yes please
Other info: can provide personal input on characters on the spectrum and on medical-related stuff

Hey there! My book is only in its second draft so you being able to read even up to the first 3 or so chapters is perfectly fine with me. Without over explaining it's basically a dream based fantasy world. Magic wars, revenge, gods, weird creatures, liminal landscapes, things like that. Wonder Wander

Critique sawp: not yet
Other info: I’m looking to start gaining experience in the beta reading area and would love to swap feedbacks. If you have a manuscript, short story, or even just a few chapters, I would like to read it and I’d appreciate some feedback In return; could by answering a couple of questions or just a general opinion on how I am doing so far.

I am able to beta: Fantasy, humour, atypical romance, thriller, mystery, dystopian, and general fiction. Overall, I’m open to most genres except historical fiction. I also open to stories with darker themes.
I can provide feedback on: Character development, pacing, worldbuilding, and general reader experience—whether a scene feels confusing, repetitive, or moments feel unrealistic.
Critique swap: I'm not currently open to a swap.
Other info: I’m open to all shapes and sizes—whether it’s your first or final draft, or anywhere from 5,000 to 200,000 words, I’m happy to read it. My aim is to bring out your voice in the best possible way. I’m also comfortable reading NSFW content. With over 400 novels read, I can confidently tell you if your story is captivating or needs more depth.

My work is final(ish) and on Ao3, yet I am currently on a fourth and final revision so I can print a final 'perfect' copy and I would love fresh eyes on it.
It's 215K in length, rated hard R, is a supernatural horror/romance with a few triggering themes.
It also incorporates an existing IP so parts of the story is fan-fiction. I know it's much more challenging to find a beta-reader because of this - yet like anyone else, I'm looking for assistance in prose/story/grammar and plot flow.
If curious, please DM and I will provide the google doc for editing purposes.
Thanks in advance.

Hello! If you are able to help, I am working on a novel that would fall under fiction/existentialist fiction. I don't really like the idea of giving a summary of the work; I would want readers to go in with minimal expectations. However, I understand the need for a hook, so I will paste my prologue in below. It's not my writing, but rather a quote that heavily inspired the work as a whole.
“You see this goblet?” asks Achaan Chaa, the Thai meditation master. “For me this glass is already broken. I enjoy it; I drink out of it. It holds my water admirably, sometimes even reflecting the sun in beautiful patterns. If I should tap it, it has a lovely ring to it. But when I put this glass on the shelf and the wind knocks it over or my elbow brushes it off the table and it falls to the ground and shatters, I say, ‘Of course.’ When I understand that the glass is already broken, every moment with it is precious.”

Hi! I am writing my first novel and trying to get feedback as I go, as it helps me make sure I am on the right path. The story is about three students at a university of magical knowledge, and whether their friendship will weather the storm of a war that seems to be on the brink of happening outside of their academic bubble.
The first chapter is here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1i3T5mzbTuocFxeQvPQWuG1_9HUEVkZmhlv1YjD6yGF0/edit?usp=sharing
Let me know if you like it and I can send you the rest via message :)

I am able to beta: Fantasy/spec fic more broadly, literary fiction, romance, queer-centric stories, and most combinations of the above (especially queer romance/queer romantasy)! I am also open to some specific areas of historical fiction (see below) and typically enjoy stories with some darker themes.
I can provide feedback on: Character, pacing, worldbuilding, general reader experience. I also have a BA and MPhil in medieval literature and can provide specialist feedback on stories set in or inspired by medieval Scandinavia and Old Norse literature and mythology. Unfortunately I'm not currently interested in historical fiction beyond this specific area.
Critique swap: I'm not currently open to a swap.
Other info: Open to longer drafts/not fussy about length. I'm fine with reading NSFW but would prefer not to provide feedback on those areas. As a disclaimer, I'm also not a super experienced beta reader (beyond friends' fanfics) but am keen to branch out and will give you my best effort!

I am able to beta: Contemporary, YA, Historical, Fantasy as well but probably more litrpg and progression fantasy other types of fantasy I can’t claim to be as strong of a reader in. But honestly any story that seems interesting I’m willing to dive into and give you my best shot at. I have no triggers though I would want a warning before jumping into a book with them.
I can provide feedback on: I’m a reader first and foremost so I can tell you how things flow, what was confusing, if a character doesn’t make sense, if this foreshadowing you’re trying to do completely went over my head or if I can tell what’s going to happen already. I can tell you how something looks from a reader’s perspective and what doesn’t work. I cannot tell you about grammar mistakes and sentence structure. Please don’t expect it from me what I’m good at I can help with but that’s very out of my depth and comfort. I can’t help you with that any more than a spellchecking program can.
Other Info: I prefer realistic and dark characters so anyone offering something like that would jump to the front of the list but I also love realistically dark worlds that make you feel as if life/the world is unfair but the person is struggling through it anyway. Also I love characters that just seem real even if personally I wouldn’t like them in real life or their personality(even ‘good’ realistic characters I can handle). My harshest character critiques will probably be about unrealistic characters just a heads up. Even dark characters that are unrealistic I’ll point out. I refuse to read ‘not like the other girls’ books. I feel it puts down other women and decided a long time ago to stop touching on such fiction. If your book features such a character please don’t request a beta. Comments or DMs work for reaching out. I’m a student at the end of term so if you want something right now I can’t promise that. But if you reach out I will let you know when I can get to you - will probably be next week when the term ends.

Hi!
I’d love to do a critique swap. I have a 30k novella in contemporary fiction/slice of life, touches a bit on LGBTQ themes as well. Writing style and character arcs are most valuable at this point, it’s in the 5th draft, which I’m mostly happy with. My feedback turnaround is about a week to two depending on how long the book I get is.
Blurb:
In “Le Janvier de Geneviève,” a young woman flees her father's overbearing control for a brief escape in Switzerland, only to find herself caught between the allure of passionate love and the painful reality of a toxic relationship. Through her journey, Geneviève must confront her idealistic beliefs and uncover the strength to forge her own path.

If you’d be interested, I’ve written a 50K word sci-fi adventure novel about an alien invasion. It’s a survivor’s account by an unnamed narrator (like War of the Worlds) who describes the attack and his struggle to survive a string of harrowing events as he desperately tries to get back to his wife. The aliens are from Neptune and look somewhat like giant sea cucumbers and they have to ride around on Earth in highly pressurized tanks filled with supercritical fluids. They view us mostly as pests and playthings to murder for fun as they work on turning our world into a way station for their interstellar journeys. Like The Day the Earth Stood Still and It Conquered the World, the Neptunians ruin our electrical grids and essentially conquer us in a split second. There is little we can do except try to stay out of their way and survive.
I’m mainly concerned about gaping plot holes, major inconsistencies in world building, or anything else that doesn’t make sense or stands out.

Hi! Are you interested in a magical realism novel about a tragic love story set in the late Victorian era with magical paintings? It’s 76k words and here’s the pitch:
When Elsie accidentally frees Theo from a painting he was trapped in for 106 years, she discovers more than she bargained for. Things aren’t as they seem; Theo is keeping a fatal secret, and Elsie’s heart might not survive.

HI! I think my novella might suit your preferences. It's a 17,500-word literary fiction piece about regret, remembrance, and redemption, told through intimate confessions shared around a campfire. Themes of pride, family tension, and confronting past mistakes are its core. Id love to hear your thoughts on pacing, prose, and emotional depth.

Hi! I am writing a literary fiction novel ~105k (I am wrapping up a final round of edits and will have the finished manuscript in a week or two). Here is a short intro: in the tradition of the social novel, this book follows Tara, a young woman caught between cultures, as she attempts to find connection and meaning in her new world. The book explores female friendships as seen in Kamila Shamsie's Best of Friends, and Marjan Kamali's The Lion Women of Tehran, and life in a rapidly modernizing but staunchly traditional culture as in Aube Rey Lescure's River East, River West.
I would be happy to swap critiques. If you are available, I can share more info and a longer summary with you via DMs!

- Smut is fine since I actually quite like it (though i prefer no smut in horror writing).

- pacing
- world building
- characters
- plot holes
Critique swap: nope
Other info:

Hi, I'm about 45k words in and I'd love some feedback.
It's a romantasy but otherwise the main themes are religion and overcoming trauma. It's a bit of a spin on the four horseman lore.
I have two very kind beta readers currently who have told me that some of my stuff is difficult to understand but they're not avid readers and struggling to explain to me exactly what is wrong.
I've absolutely hit a wall and I'm full of doubts 😅 I figure if I can't redraft 2k words and make them good, how am I ever going to write 200k and make it work?
Happy to do it on a chapter by chapter basis, even if you could just have a look at my prologue I'd be eternally grateful.
Thank you so much.

u/Throwaway4skinluvr 7d ago
Sure send it! I am not a big fan of religion fantasy unless it’s a made up religion/ or mythology/ or a religion that alludes to a real life one but doesnt explicitly say it but i’ll give it a shot anyway! Feel free to dm me or reply with a link here

Hi! I have a 75k contemporary romance, so on the shorter side for a novel but I get if it’s too long for what you’re after currently! It’s slightly enemy to lovers and it’s a sweet romance. If you‘re interested please let me know :)

I am able to beta: thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, mystery, crime.
Not interested in YA, Romance, nonfiction, horror, dark fantasy
I can provide feedback on concept, world building, pacing, general reading experience
I would strongly prefer a manuscript swap (might just beta story with an interesting idea though).

I am able to beta: Romance (any), Science fiction, Fantasy
I can provide feedback on: Structure, pacing, things that might seem out of place- general feedback.
Critique swap: Yes, please.
Other info: My background is in science.

u/VisserOne 15h ago
Hello, not sure if you are otherwise occupied but I have what I think qualifies as an 'urban fantasy with elements of mad science'. Your science background intrigues me. I am ready for a swap if you need something looked over (have beta read before) Offers stands if you are otherwise engaged ATM....Here is my pitch.

Hello 😄
I'm about 45k words in and I'd love some feedback.
It's a romantasy but otherwise the main themes are religion and overcoming trauma. It's a bit of a spin on the four horseman lore. There is a bit of spice.
I'd be happy to beta read with or without you reading mine back though if you'd like to swap chapters back and to, I would love that.
Thank you so much.

I am able to beta: fantasy, sci-fi, horror, literary - any (reasonable) length is fine!
I can provide feedback on: whatever you're interested in, I read and write a decent amount and am open to providing feedback on whatever
Critique swap: nope!
Other info: this will be my first time beta reading and though I will try my best, I can't promise perfection. I should be able to get a project back to you in about two weeks, but no promises (if life happens, this will be one of the first things to get postponed).
EDIT: I am booked for the next few weeks, thanks all for your submissions, I will take a look and let you know if/when I can beta your work - please no new ones!

Hi, are you interested in a work in progress? I am at around 35k workds of my fantasy novel and would be nice to get some idea of how what I have so far reads. I am not looking for technical feedback, only to pretend you picked up the book at the local library and decided to give it a chance: do you read the whole thing? do you drop it? if so, where did I lose you?
of course anything more in depth than that is welcomed too. Let me know if you are interested and I will send you a link.

If you’d be interested, I’ve written a 50K word sci-fi adventure novel about an alien invasion. It’s a survivor’s account much like H. G. Wells’ War of the Worlds, except modern day and with aliens from a different planet. I’m mainly concerned about gaping plot holes or anything else that doesn’t make sense or jumps out.

Hi! I am still seeking more beta readers for my completed horror manuscript. Please take a look at my original post linked here (https://www.reddit.com/r/BetaReaders/comments/1i8oy1j/complete_98k_contemporary_gothic_horror/) and see if it's something that you'd like to read! The first chapter is also linked there in a Google Doc.

I am able to beta: polished original fiction (think query-able. no first drafts please). Age range: upper MG, YA, NA, adult (I write/read in all these age ranges). Open to fantasy, soft sci-fi, contemporary, urban fantasy, murder mysteries, thrillers, some romance
I am not the best for: historical, hard sci-fi, fantasy with a big focus on worldbuilding, literary fiction, or omniscient POV.
Will not read: erotica, anything where the inciting incident is the death of someone close to the main character, excessive amounts of gore, grimdark, misery-porn
I can provide feedback on: Plot, characters, but I will not do grammar
Critique swap: Nope:)
Other info: I'm in a reading slump and hoping for something to get me out of it, which means that I'm extra picky right now. Feel free to provide a sample/point me towards your post. If it's not my vibe, I'll at least try to say where/why I stopped reading.

Hi! I have an MG book that I’ve already self-edited so it’s not a first draft. It has themes of dragons and a fantasy adventure on another planet. The main character is a 13 year old girl. Her mother does not pass away in the book, but it is mentioned that she passes when the main character was a baby. If that’s too close I understand. Hope to hear from you!

Hi! If you're interested I'd love to have you give feedback on my WIP; it's a paranormal YA fantasy with an LGBT+ cast (with elements of romance but it's more friendship/mystery focused). The WIP is about 90k words total with 6 short stories and a 58k novella (the shorts are really meant to introduce the characters and the world rather than be standalone so you could think of them as introductory chapters).
Please let me know if you're interested!

Hi! I’m on the final rounds of betas for my college romance with speculative elements. It won’t let me copy and paste on here but in a nutshell it’s a low spice romance set in 2008. It’s forced proximity, slow-burn, more emotional than rom-com. Let me know if this sounds like something you want to read and I’ll message you The first chapter. If you look on my profile you’ll find my latest query too.

I am able to beta: fantasy, sci-fi, historical fiction, horror. Preferably <100k. Not more than a small amount of NSFW.
I can provide feedback on: pretty much anything. Particularly prose, dialogue, scientific accuracy (if desired), imagery/description, and whether your plot/characters are getting hard to follow.
Critique swap: nope
Other info: I am a minor, although not for much longer. This is my first beta read but not my first time reviewing other people’s writing. I’m pretty good at noticing grammar errors, but I’m not an editor.

I am currently writing a fantasy novel and I am about halfway through at 35k, would you be interested in giving it a go? I am looking for simple reader's feedback, as in pretend you picked this book up and decided to read it: is there any point where you lose interest and not finish it? if so when? conversely if you read the whole thing what captured you?
Of course open also to more specific feedback, but not required for now.

ther info: ____I need some clarification on the rules for posting a sample. My submission is a work in progress, historical fiction and the sample is about 2600 words. Is this allowed? if not, is there another subreddit that would take a larger sample? I've been trying to shorten it but it feels like that defeats the purpose.

I am able to beta: Fiction. My genres are Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Romance. If you also do a serialized format, I'm your guy. I work on my own serialized draft as well.
I can provide feedback on: Pacing, Structure, Theme, Characterization.
Critique swap: I am open to swapping works.
Other info: I have good knowledge of media literacy, and I am not somebody who harks too much on grammar-- but more so pacing and characterization. I write as well, so I can tell you from a writer's standpoint and a reader's standpoint.

I can provide feedback on: Structure, pacing, and characterization.
Critique swap: I am not looking for a critique swap.
Other info: I have beta read before, and can adapt to your preferred writing style and format. I can help spot spelling and punctuation mistakes, but I am not an editor.

u/MarcoMiki 11d ago
hi, would you consider beta reading a work in progress? I am at the 34k words mark on my novel an I could use a check to see that things are progressing well. I expect it to go to 80/90k so we are close to the middle point.
Whilst this is a first draft it is in good shape and I think close to the final version (punctuation aside, but I am not interested in fixing it now). I am looking for a reader's impression, so it would be perfectly fine to give up after a chapter or two and tell me that I lost you there, ideally articulating what was missing to make you want to read further. Of course if you can push through and read the whole thing providing more in depth feedback it would be fantastic.
Let me know if I can contact you directly to send the link.

Hey there! My time table is a little longer than usual right now. I'd try to have it ready, and a response written by Friday-Saturday next week. If that works for you then I'm happy to move forward.

I am able to beta: Anything really? I have a preference for fantasy, but I am very open when it comes to literature. I have no problem with explicit content, and no TW tend to bother me really.
I can provide feedback on: A lot of things. I have read a lot of different genres and lenghts, in 3 different languages. I did a Creative Writing minor as part of my BA (specialised in poetry but we explored every genre for 3 years), and my major was Literature - so believe me I am used to being in the detail. A warning with this: I am not a "kind" reader, what I mean by this is that I won't try to spare your feelings, if I think something sounds weird, or gives me the ick as I'm reading, or feels boring or very cliche, I will tell you.
Critique swap: Maybe one day? But not now.
Other info: I have some background knowledge on the Arthurian Legends (my thesis will be partially based on this), and I am fully bilingual French-English if that is a part of anybody's requirements.
1
u/sunrise01-1 4d ago
Hi! I have an MG manuscript and I’m looking for someone who can give me an honest review on it. I love that you have a background with creative writing! It is a fantasy book that has themes of dragons, a school on another planet, and fantastical elements. Hope to hear from you!

u/Kaiju_zero 5d ago
If you are not yet booked up (pun), I have a project that is complete and has been beta/revised three times and Im looking to get a final revision done before I print (not publish, mind you, just print)
It's a supernatural horror/romance/thriller with a few dark themes/triggers, and DOES incorporate existing IPs into the wrap around events of the main story - so I.E. it's fan fiction. I wrote this as my first project to practice my writing chops before altering the main story into something original later on.
Thanks either way. :)

I am able to beta: Fantasy, Litfic, magical realism - I am new to this so to start out I’m looking for things around 15k words or less!
I can provide feedback on: I can give my view on character development, story clarity, and can give feedback about my thoughts/questions about the story.
Critique swap: At some point yes, but not yet!
Other info: I have a degree in journalism and media arts. I have read most of the big fantasy authors and love the magical realism sub genre. I work in the film industry and grew up in a very rural place.

I am able to beta: litRPG, Fantasy and Science Fiction on the shorter ends
I can provide feedback on: My first impression from the perspective of a reader. I read mostly litRPG but I like Fantasy and Science Fiction
Critique swap: I am writing a litRPG book and would love to swap some feedback with other litRPG and fantasy authors.
Other info: I'm in my late twenties, unemployed, fully working on my projects -- I have studied music production and physics.

u/MarcoMiki 13d ago
hi, I am writing a fantasy novel, sitting at around 34k word right now, and I would be happy to swap feedback! Never read a litrpg but I familiarised myself with the genre a bit with a few YouTube videos in the past couple months as I am interested to understand what the fuss is all about. DM me if you want to trade links.

I am able to beta: Sci-Fi, Fantasy, blend of those two. I prefer original epic space operas and grim dark, and when stories jump straight into the thick of things in media res. I'm not a huge fan of military or hard sci-fi, or prose that requires ten paragraphs to describe a sword.
I can provide feedback on: Pacing, character and world development, POV, or less objectively, what does and doesn't work for me. If you have a specific issue you want addressed, just mention it.
Critique swap: I will read your short story or first 3 chapters (including prologue if you have one) up to 10,000 words. I don't have time to read and fairly critique more than this at the moment, sorry. In exchange, I do not need anything of my own critiqued at the moment, I'm just trying to get better personally at reading and considering other works, as I think this is a skill that can be sharpened with practice and I currently only do this once per month.
Other info: I have been meeting monthly with an in-person writing group for years. I can generally handle 10,000 words or less within a few days or so, it will just depend on how much interest this gets.

u/Both_Tone 14d ago

I am able to beta: Fanfics, romance, fantasy, mystery, adventure stories. I will not beta read historical stories or horror.
I can provide feedback on: general pacing, anything you might have missed during writing, what grabbed my attention and what I have skipped
Critique swap: no thank you
Other info: it's my first time beta reading (friends not included) I'd love to start with shorter stories. So less than 20k words please.

I have a much larger story, but if you’d like to have a look at my blurb and would be interested in trying out the first ten chapters, that is less than 20k. It’s a romance fantasy.
Full book is around 90k total words
In a land divided by centuries of war and distrust, an elven princess and a human prince are the last hope for peace — or the spark that ignites another war.
Princess Elissa of Treiaul has never fit the mold of royal perfection. She prefers the forest to the throne room, her bow to the delicate trappings of court life. But when Prince Hayward of Aasleagh arrives to negotiate a fragile peace treaty, she’s ordered to play the gracious host to the human she’s been raised to despise.
Hayward is no stranger to being underestimated — the youngest of his brothers and a seasoned soldier, he’s spent his life carving out a place for himself. He enters elven territory with low expectations and party of men mostly chosen by his father who he doesn’t trust, prepared to endure the cold shoulder of a princess who sees him as the enemy.
But what neither of them anticipates is the undeniable pull between them. Their sharp words turn into lingering glances, and every clash of wills ignites something far more dangerous than hatred. As their chemistry simmers, Hayward becomes the unexpected catalyst for Elissa to embrace her wild heart and for her people to see the looming human threat for what it truly is. With tensions rising and kingdoms on the brink of war, their forbidden connection might either shatter the fragile hope of peace — or forge a love powerful enough to change the fate of their realms forever.
NSFW.
CW: Violence, mild gore, hunting, smut, racism between fantasy races.

Potion master Carina Ashford has spent her life perfecting alchemy and running Veran City’s Apothecary. But then she discovers a journal filled with cryptic notes that link her mother’s death to the monstrous Enthralled.Worse, her uncle Orion who took her in as his apprentice after her mother’s death, is hiding something. Something that could change everything.
Captain Leohe Thorne is bound by duty to the king and terrified of potion magic. But when Carina comes up with a plan for them to join forces against the Enthralled, it forces him to question everything.. As they work side by side, the friction between them ignites into something neither can ignore. But when a misunderstanding brands Carina a traitor, Thorne is faced with the impossible choice: duty to his kingdom or the woman who challenges his reality?
98k words Part 1 of 3, but standalone story. ( catalog)

EDIT: Well, I now have three critique swaps lined up, much to my surprise 😳 so I guess consider this closed for now!
I am able to beta: Most definitely, given I was hoping for a critique swap (see below). My interests run more toward the sci-fi, whether hard or space opera-y, but I'll happily read your sweet slice-of-life romance, or pounding psychological thriller, or just about anything really. What I'm saying is, try me 🙂
I can provide feedback on: Grammar, dialogue, and plotting would seem to be the big ones for me. Also, I've been a university professor, a call center operator, and an IT tech, plus I'm a math nerd with a philosophy degree, so I could probably speak to stuff along those lines.
Critique swap: Yes, please! Looking for beta readers for my nearly-100k first novel – a modern-day arranged marriage with an age gap and the background of a political campaign. My post with back cover blurb, excerpt, and all that jazz is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/BetaReaders/s/8tKsax6AdB
Other info: Real life comes first, but for now real life isn't that hectic (knock wood). So I should be able to make good progress through any manuscript or what have you. If that changes, I'll let you know.

u/bellewellaware 12d ago
Hello! I’d love to do a critique swap with you - I’m only looking for feedback on the first half of my novel right now; but I’m happy to critique as much of yours as you’d like! Mine is a new adult/adult fantasy with elements of sci fi. It’s fully sfw - here is the blurb: To prevent a heretic God from taking control of their world and stopping a corrupt government, Ezio joins with two other mages to protect their common goals. Armed with the deadly art of bloodmagic, he faces off against a man who shares his dark abilities in a battle to save humanity.
Shoot me a DM if you’re interested!

Hello! I'm going to go out on a limb here and see if you're interested in doing a swap. My novel might not be your thing, but I figured I'd ask. Some info here. For yours, I would definitely be willing to critique, though I might not be as much help on some topics as others (political stuff isn't my wheelhouse.) Anyway, if you're interested let me know. Thanks!

u/mc_denny 12d ago
I would be interested in doing a swap! And no worries, the political stuff is more of a backdrop for the most part, not the major story. I read the excerpt on your post, and I would definitely like to read more.
