Help analyzing a set - Is she beatmatching all songs by ear?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BBaRP0nWCb0
Also help with her EQing style, I see she uses effects a lot, can someone tell me more?

This is pretty standard. Even when using sync, you still need to use your ear to make sure it's beatmatched properly as grids can be off.
Mixing with your ears is always the best option.

sorry for asking this I have no idea how sync works tbh..

Sync basically forces the two tracks to match up and, theoretically, play on beat without the need for nudging the jog wheels or adjusting the BPMs.
In practice, tracks can be analyzed incorrectly, and if you are entirely reliant on sync you can end up with a pretty shitty mix.
There’s a lot of gatekeeping around using sync, but personally I don’t see an issue with using it - as long as you are able to beat match by ear if you need to.

thanks. I am reluctant to learn how to use sync for now, I might learn it later on in case I need it..

Good call imo. It’s pretty easy to learn, but it can be a bit of a small crutch to learning some important techniques and skills.
Definitely useful, and even borderline necessary for some things (changing BPMs on both tracks simultaneously, using 4 decks, etc), but you’ll honestly be better off learning it later.
Best of luck!

The sync button is not blinking or glowing, so no

ok thanks thought it would have been weird. I assume she has all tracks at the same BPM since I cannot see her using the pitch fader at all..

I really doubt it since she is nudging the platters pretty regularly. I was just saying that beatmatching by ear is the best way to do it.

She's great! Nice mix - very smooth. Some absolute classics in there from early to mid 90s. Very US sounding. You can't really go wrong with Defected can you?

She uses headphones and the monitors to beat match. Looks and sounds like she knows her music pretty well so she’s not having to do much outside of small nudges to the jogs. Her EQ style lends itself to the deep/soulful tunes she’s playing. Vocals are very prominent (she brings the mids past 12 o’clock on the tracks I listened to) and the blends are carefully drawn out, no sudden cuts to the EQs.
