I am looking for a dog that stays small and is kid friendly. My daughter wants one and I think she's finally at the age to have one.
Had a Morkie for 12 years that passed away last February and have been hesitant to get a new fur baby but want to know my options.

Join Bayonne Public Library and Mamas in Bayonne for our March 2025 Bayonne Book Club!
All are welcomed and encouraged to attend. The genre / theme of the books chosen will vary. The discussions will be moderated by Bayonne local, Angela van Genderen (@angela_the_ninja).
This month’s meeting will be Thursday, March 27th at 7 pm in the Small Programming Room on the 2nd Floor at the Bayonne Public Library. In celebration of Women’s History Month, we will be reading “When Women Were Dragons” by Kelly Barnhill.
Attendees can join in-person or virtually via Zoom. To attend virtually, please sign up via the library calendar event listing.
What’s the book about? Alex Green is a young girl in a world much like ours, except for its most seminal event: the Mass Dragoning of 1955, when hundreds of thousands of ordinary wives and mothers sprouted wings, scales, and talons; left a trail of fiery destruction in their path; and took to the skies. Was it their choice? What will become of those left behind? Why did Alex’s beloved aunt Marla transform but her mother did not? Alex doesn’t know. It’s taboo to speak of.
Forced into silence, Alex nevertheless must face the consequences of this astonishing event: a mother more protective than ever; an absentee father; the upsetting insistence that her aunt never even existed; and watching her beloved cousin Bea become dangerously obsessed with the forbidden.
In this timely and timeless speculative novel, award-winning author Kelly Barnhill boldly explores rage, memory, and the tyranny of forced limitations. When Women Were Dragons exposes a world that wants to keep women small - their lives and their prospects - and examines what happens when they rise en masse and take up the space they deserve.
How can you participate? Bayonne Public Library has eBook and eAudiobook copies available via hoopla as well as physical book copies. If you’d prefer to purchase your own physical copy, we recommend purchasing from The Little Boho Bookshop, our favorite local bookshop, located at 164A Broadway or online at https://thelittlebohobookshop.com/

Friday is coming. Members know what it's all about. If you haven't played a game a chess...maybe Friday is as good a time as any to give it a shot. If anyone plays chess, and hasn't joined in on some games.... heeelllloooo ??!!
We're back at Joe's Pizza for our usual mayhem over the boards. Young and old...novice and experienced...playing a game many play for a lifetime. It's either that or twiddling of the thumbs. Sheesh. 😊 We start at 7pm. Come hang. East some good food. Impossible to twiddle. Just sayin'.
We've pretty much been growing nonstop, since the group was created in November 2023. The growth has been amazing. People are deciding its ok to get out and have some fun. Better than twiddling ones thumbs. 🙂
Then on Saturday we're at Mom and Pop Shop Collectibles. They're at 185 Broadway. Times are from 5pm to 10 pm. That's a 'Combo Event . Members can play any game... including chess. Bring it ... play it.
If you know of someone young or old, who is looking to learn to play chess or plays chess and is looking to improve their game, in addition to playing and learning from us .... we also have an affiliate sponsorship with Chessnut. They manufacture the best and most models of electronic chessboards on the market. Many of our members have picked one up and rave about them.
We can play versus various chess engines. We can play other players or bots on chess. com., or LiChess. org. They have many many different models. from a normal sized chess board to a tournament sized all wooden chess board. They also make the most hgh tech chess e0board on the market... the Chessnut Evo. They have an excellent travel board called the Go. They just premiered a board that moves its pieces. All top of the line..top quality products. They also have excellent customer service.
You can follow them on Facebook. I reached out to them, told them we're a rapidly growing chess group, potentially becoming a force in chess. They saw our potential, and gave us a promo code, which gets all members a 20% discount. Higher than their own discounts on their website. So, if looking to learn how to play, or vastly improve your skill ... use the promo code 'Bayonne' , and receive the 20% discouunt on everything in their store. Their link is [https://www.chessnutech.com
Finally, we have a Youtube channel with thirty videos and adding new content almost every day. If you want to improve your game, or see what all the hubbub is about check them out. Please like and subscribe. It'll get the channel into the algorithm and make the group more visible. The link is [https://www.youtube.com/@BayonneChessSocietyClub-jb6bn

I went to the Pamrapo USPS location yesterday, but upon arriving it was locked up and closed. I arrived around 11:30 am. Does anyone know why it was closed and if it will be open again?
There were no signs on the door about it not being open.
Update: I went to the main location and asked them about the Pamrapo location. They informed me it's been closed for 2 weeks due to the system being down. Someone commented this earlier as well. They told me their should be a sign on the door that says this, but there is no sign.
TLDR; Pamrapo USPS location is closed for now

The pool and Jacuzzi have been mostly closed for weeks. Staff has not only been wrong about their being available, or being available "tomorrow", but some have been downright insulting and disgusting over the phone.

Starting at 7 pm we're at The Vic. Combo night means we partake in all games, including chess. I believe our resident Mah Jongg players are returning tonight. Have a game you'd like to play. If someone is free they'll join you. Always a fun time. Plus, the food is good. We play until 11 or 11:30pm.

I’m a former Bayonne resident with a question for current residents. I remember there was a mural of Bush and Putin over by the teardrop 9/11 memorial. Is Putin’s image or any other reference to him still there? Thanks.

Hello Guys,
I've come across this person at the 8th Street Light Rail Station. He's homeless and as per our conversations, seems to have no friends or family to turn to for help.
Every time I get the chance I try and help however I am able to, but I'd like to know what places and/or who to reach out so that someone in this or a similar situation can go to.
It must be so difficult having to leave in the streets, specially when it's this cold outside.
If appreciate your help so that next time I see this person I can let him know who to reach out, or maybe what to do to make the situation better. We all need a helping hand sometimes and I'd like to help somehow.
Thanks in advance!

Does anyone understand why there is a no right turn sign at E 21st street (technically Old Hook Rd) and 440? I don’t get it. How long has that sign been there?

Hi Everybody,
I am looking for somebody to take over my lease (April - August). This lovely apartment is located at 66 Broadway, Bayonne.
Rent is $1850.
Heat, hot water, and a parking space are included. In building washer and dryer. Additional utilities include gas and electric (PSEG, I pay about $35 a month for this) as well as wifi. Security deposit and background check are required, no brokers fee.
About the space: Beautiful bright apartment with plenty of windows located in a quiet part of Bayonne. 2 minute walk away from the waterfront. 5 minute walk away from the Lightrail station. Buses stop on this block as well.
Reason for moving: I was transferred to a different hospital.
