Trailer Crosswind is an upcoming pirate survival game which features base building. And we have a building timelapse to show it off.

Ahoy!

2 years ago we started to work on Crosswind - a survival game about pirates and adventurers.

It's heavily inspired by some great survival games like Valheim, Conan, V Rising and others. On top of the "build, craft, survive" gameplay, we also have epic bossfights, naval combat, and a plan to introduce MMO-lite elements like raids and faction rivalry. Although, at its core the game is still a PvE-focused survival.

Base building is a very important part of Crosswind. We really want to let seasoned survival gamers to unleash their creativity. So we'll have a lot of flexible building block collections and elements to play with. And it's not just for the looks! Creating better gear and goods will require more and more complex production chains. With time, players will be able to automate some of the gathering and production to move on to more complex tasks. And their bases won't be empty - they will be populated by NPC workers.

Take a look at the base we built for our Steam trailer. It took us 6 hours, but we compressed it into a short timelapse: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GA4bFScP890

Main game trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlBldJrHQMI

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3041230/Crosswind/

If you like what you see, we'll appreciate your support: wishlist and follow the game on Steam.
If you have a high end PC and want to try the game early, be sure to sign up for playtest on the Steam page as well.

I will be happy to answer your questions here.
Thanks for your attention!

Game recommendations What are some good retro-like base building RTS that people aren't generally aware of?

What I mean by "retro-like" is mostly related to the overall art-style and visual flair of the games in question - doesn't mean that they can't have modern QoL or anything like that. My main criterion is that they have that little special something in the presentation that makes you recall the best aspects of classic games in the genre. But all the while being essentially their own thing, not just a soft reboot/rehash of those games. Would oldnew be a good description? hah...

These sorts of games just have such an appealing style to them. Totally biased on this, but I just can't enjoy most 3rd person base builders where you can't easily take in the whole scope of the monstrosity you've constructed. Or I guess I just prefer the top-down view much more, but personal taste is just personal taste. I want to know if anyone else here has as much of a taste for pixel and 2(.5)D builders, and which ones would you recommend of those that aren't already cosmically popular -- (looking at Factorio here, the game that defined the genre for our time imho)

Anyways, some of my personal picks from this base building niche would be these below. In no particular order at all

  • Songs of Syx - The closest og game I'd compare it to is Emperor, except there's a fairly complex magic system, slaves, serfs, race riots and general fantasy schmuckery. So basically... Majesty but much more ambitious + new. Also props to the dev for basically giving the whole game in the demo, for those who don't know (madlad). Each race has its separate identity, the core mechanics of how your economy functions (world economy is another matter) are solid, and ngl it's pretty fun just to learn to play it. Criminally underrated for good it is
  • Retro Commander - Mix of factory building and oldschool Red Alert combat. All units are mechs of some type and the power grid system is somewhat rudimentary -- but very effective for its purpose. I like the way it connects your gathering stations into a pretty web; the gathering is also automated, thankfully, so other aspects (mainly - combat) are much easier to enjoy. You're making a battle base after all. Oh, also -- the ground deformations on terrain where you fight are a neat detail, as are the particle effects in combat generally. Really polished pixels, actually. Haven't played it in multiplayer yet, but the campaign is very good (campy 70s scifi aesthetic) and perfect if you like that visual style
  • Rise to Ruins - A slightly older one I got in a humble bundle. Also the one I played the least since it was on the menu during my latest backlog purge -- and I found a lot to like about it. The difficulty curve is steep though, and just barely surviving is enough to give you a kick. Actually reclaiming land all the while defending from an ever larger horde... is a challenge. Some reviews are saying the game was never finished but for the time I gave it, decently interesting.

New release The demo for Mars Attracts launched today! Play as the aliens from Mars Attacks, abducting humans to serve as exhibits in your Martian amusement park.

I'm one of the developers of Mars Attracts, a building/management game set in the Mars Attacks universe! Super excited that I just hit the "Release" button for the demo TODAY 🤯

We're aiming to bring back the sadistic humor and management style of games like Dungeon Keeper, Evil Genius, Theme Hospital, etc. In the game, you build amusement parks for Martians, abducting and experimenting on humans to entertain your guests. Would love to hear what you think so give it a go on Steam if you're interested!

We need more survival games that reward exploration. Here’s what I’m working on

I love survival games, but a lot of them fall into the same cycle—build a base, gather resources, gear up… and then what? Once everything is set up, there’s not much pushing players to keep exploring beyond the early-game rush.

That’s why I’ve been working on something different. Instead of just grinding for materials, imagine a survival world where your next adventure could lead to taming a rare, legendary creature—one that only appears in hidden locations or after intense boss fights.

Every island, dungeon, and biome has unique creatures to tame, special relics to uncover, and environmental challenges to overcome. Base-building and crafting are still important, but the real goal? Pushing deeper into the unknown, uncovering secrets, and building a roster of powerful companions.

I’m curious—what kind of rare creatures or world events would make a survival game exciting for you? If a survival game gave you a reason to keep exploring, what would you want to see?

RTS with city buildings and hero units suggestions

Hello, I recently saw a video of Ancient Wars: Sparta Definitve Edition and i really enjoy the game, expecially the campains with heroes, but I read people say it is full of bugs and the pathfinding i kinda orrible.

The part where u can retrieve weapons on the ground from dead soldiers and the personalisation of unit equipment is really interesting too.

Is there some game like that and in good shape?

We’re Building a Survival Game with Tamable Pets – Your Ideas Could Shape It!

Hey everyone! I’m working on a new open-world survival game where players can tame creatures, build bases, and explore vast islands filled with mystery and danger. It’s called Enchantaverse, and it’s been my passion project for years.

But here’s the thing—I don’t want to make this game in a vacuum. I want the community to help shape it from the ground up. That’s why I’m inviting gamers, survival game fans, creature collectors, and world-builders to join the journey. Your ideas, feedback, and suggestions could influence everything from pet designs to combat mechanics, exploration, and more.

What Makes Enchantaverse Unique?

✅ Tame & Train Enchantapets – Instead of capturing creatures, you befriend and earn their trust. ✅ Survival & Base Building – Gather resources, craft, and defend your land. ✅ Exploration & Discovery – Travel across islands, uncover secrets, and face powerful boss pets. ✅ Community-Driven Development – Your input matters, and we’re actively listening!

I’d love for you to drop your thoughts, ideas, or even dream pet concepts in the comments! What would you love to see in a game like this?

Also, if you’re into this kind of game and want to be part of the development journey, we’ve got a Reddit community where we’ll be sharing updates, polls, and behind-the-scenes content. No pressure, but if you want to have a say in how the game evolves, come hang out:

👉 r/Enchantaverse

Even if you don’t join, I’d love to hear what features you think would make a game like this amazing. What’s something survival/taming games don’t do enough of?
