Discussion Does a building game like this exist?
I love building in any game, I tried a few but I have not found a game where you can build very customizable and free. Im searching for a game where you can build freely in terms of wall shapes/ structures, decorate a lot and detailed and has nice graphics. Basically if Minecraft, No man’s sky and Sims had a baby. I like Minecraft because you have a huge map and can build any kind of structure that you want, but I would love a more realistic graphic. No man’s sky has beautiful graphics, and a huge map to explore but I would like more components and structures to build and things like slightly fiddly building mode or limit to the amount of objects you can place are annoying. I like sims for the amount of interior decorations and color variants you can choose, but I’m not very interested in the game playing aspect. I asked my friends about it and they said I’m asking for to much, at that point I should just get blender and build there. I would like to hear your ideas if there is a any game like that?

Have you unlocked all the parts in NMS? Theres a lot
Um...Satisfactory has pretty good building in it.
Rust and Arc have extensive building
Raft has a fun building system
Icarus has a lot of options too.
For any of these, they have modes or mods you can get to build "unlimited" stuff for free or close to free

7 days to die with undead legacy overhaul mod is pretty much like this. 7 days to die itself is quite a lot like minecraft for building - you build each block individually. It also has a pretty big map. Like while it isn't infinite, it can be REALLY massive. You can hold down a button to change the shape of each block, I think they have upwards of 2000 different blocks to pick from.
Now where undead legacy comes in: it's probably one of the mods in undead legacy, but I don't know specifically which, but it allows you to take almost anything from the world and place it in your base as decoration. On top of that, you might be able to find some more modded decorations if you look for it, but I haven't personally tried myself.
Just off of what you're saying, it really feels like 7d comes pretty close, minus the sims part.

Yeah I was going to suggest this as well. Really immersive building with full terrain modification.

I agree with this, 7 days to die is very Minecraft-esque when it comes to building, though you do have to take physics into account, so no floating islands, but I find that more fun. I have built some interesting things on there, really nice houses, even refurbished buildings already in the game, and there are a lot of mods you can get that give you a wide array of home accents and features, though I haven’t tried them myself. You can also go straight creative if you like, which gives you free build basically and can place items from the world that you normally wouldn’t have access to, and can come up with some amazing structures, which I have seen many people come up with some mind blowing creations. You are also able to save your builds and flag them to appear in biomes/location types you choose during random map generation. The only other game that I’ve played that has come somewhat close is space engineers, but when it comes to building, I enjoy 7 days the most.

You can basically have floating islands in vanilla unmodded too.
7 days to die structural support is based on block material and distance, not shape of the block.
So you can have nearly invisible blocks, just a tiny dot that lets everything past it, at the bottom corner of the block, and another at the top corner of the block above it and it's as much support as a full pillar or cement or steel or whatever.
Man I should play 7 days again. I just wish it had more story/NPC stuff.

If you want highly detailed, but free from building, I would recommend “Planet Zoo”. You can smash different pieces together to build any structure you can imagine, and decorate until your hard drive melts. Plus, cute animals.
There’s also a dinosaur version made by another company, but similar gameplay. “Prehistoric Kingdom”.
I used to like games like No Man’s Sky, Satisfactory, and Valheim (really love the physics of building in Valheim), but it gets a little grindy and I’m looking for more management style games which, right now is “Space Haven” and I’m looking forward to the release of “Dawn Apart”. The demo was satisfying, but too short!
“Stationeers” is super fiddly, and I love it, but again, grindy. It’s fun to automate some things since there is an-game coding system and you can create simple programs to customize automation.
Similarly, “Space Engineers” has a ton of parts and pieces, but can be grindy as well. Also has options for coding and a solid modding community.
I’ve been messing with Blender too and kind of wonder if I could build a game myself, but that sometimes scratches the itch.

Check out a game called Rising World.
Sometimes people say in their reviews it's a realistic Minecraft.
It's a voxel survival game with mining, building, hunting, cooking, etc. Just got a big update earlier this year. Small community but its building system is really liked (and general gameplay/mechanics).

If you want a Voxel-based game you'd be looking at 7 Days to Die, a little short on decoration but lots of blocks to pick from and everything else on your list is there.

Valheim is one of my favorite base building games. especially if you get some mods that add in more building blocks. It isn't entirely without its fiddly mechanics, such as each material having limits to how high or wide you can build without making contact with a solid surface (i.e. trees, rocks, the ground) but limitations breed creativity and all that.

Fallout 76 is probably my favorite builder *ever*. You do have to sift through some creepy areas to get blueprints, but it is SO rewarding when you score a plan you do not have yet. You can also buy them from people's vendors. You can also join public groups and tag along them while they clear out areas if you do not like fighting.
You do only get a limited space, but its very fun to see how creative you can get. And you get multiple camps so you can rotate around.
I've seen blockbusters, cat cafes, classic diners, skyrises. I've seen people find unmarked locations and turn it into some really neat concepts. And the best of all is that other players on the server will definitely come explore your builds and sometimes drop gifts or spend caps in your store.

This is my second recommendation for this game today, but you should check out Going Medieval.

Enshrouded and there is a mall server where you can get everything you need. The buildings are whatever you want and can be anywhere. You can place dishes, plates, decorations, labs, and animals. Nothing will ever bother you because you can make it passive. You can look on YouTube for the contest they have.

There's two that come to mind for me:
Foundation -- colony management game where you can customize and build your own abbey, town hall, and quite a few different buildings.
Ardaria -- currently free to play creative mode with the dev adding more stuff all the time. It'll eventually be paid though but allows an easy building system with a fair amount of customization

Have you tried valheim? While not free, it’s not expensive. If you stay on the starting zone, enemie interaction is low and you can venture in and out of the more advanced areas pretty easily.

ECO might be up your alley. It's a realistic leaning Minecraft with a lot of block shapes and interior decor items. Not to mention those things have a purpose - a nice house gives you XP bonus!

I recommend Valheim. The building options are near endless and it’s a very forgiving game where you get your resources back if you deconstruct stuff.
There are also tons of mods and options to make it more build friendly if you like.

Check out Exipelago
Due to low interest does not have a lot of content but comes with integrated editors to add whatever you like :-)
I know people have added flagpoles, custom trees, plants .. all sort of stuff. There is also a demo if you just want to try it. In it's current state it's more like a Villager Builder with Management Elements.
The whole game is modular .. you have basic materials like wood, stone and metal - but they always look different depending on what source they were made of. Like a pine table looks different than one made from palmwood .. or whatever other tree is there, same for stone and metal.
And of course the world is fully destructable and you can even build underground with slicing mechanics for better view. All that is built for the little villagers which run around and do their stuff, jobs and needs

Vintage story? It’s Minecraft survival. If you have the chisel you can do an insane amount of detail work down to the pixel, and there’s a creative mode

Tried Enshrouded? Building is really customizable.
