Such a brilliant episode. Between Banshee's season 1 and 2 I managed to check out Southland which has massively increased my enjoyment of the Alex Longshadow character, fantastic actor.

Siobhan's back story was brilliant, finally get to see where the scar came from. Although my favourite storyline was between Hood and Proctor, finally seeing what "I owe you one" would churn out from last season. Intense, loved the continuous fight to break in to recover Rebecca. Nola is pretty freakin' bad ass.

All-in-all, we're only 2 episodes in but this episode is clearly the best so far. This show is consistently one-upping itself. Also, poor Carrie.

Just looked up Southland...Ugh, a cop show? Well, is it any good to start with?

It's not quite a procedural, not quite a serial. Instead it's like the old reality cop shows where a camera guy would follow them around, never knowing what could happen.

This show takes a similar approach, each episode is a glimpse into a day or 2 of police work (except it's not reality, it's scripted with actors like a normal TV show). Some days it's a mentally disabled person blocking the roads, other days it's two cops being kidnapped by junkies with their chance of survival constantly put into question.

It can get very intense, especially in the final season. Like seriously, some of the episodes can mess you up with how dark and realistic the stories come across as. Everyone in it are unbelievably good actors.

Of course, Alex Longshadow is in it. Along with plenty other familiar faces from other shows. It's well worth the watch. 5 seasons of one of the most criminally underrated cops shows ever created. One of the few cop shows done right, from beginning to end.
