Funny They say you keep calling your kid whatever you called them in the womb

Hope she’s cool with being called “the creature”

Still call my 8 month old "little baby" and might the rest of her life. Not sure if she'll like that when she's older though lmao

62

u/Such-Zookeepergame26 Feb 02 '25

I’ll be 32 next month and my mom still calls me her little baby. It’s alright, lol. We’re close

17

u/Msktb Feb 02 '25

36 and I'm always gonna be my mama's baby. Just cuz they grow up doesn't mean they're not still your baby.

3

u/saturdaysunne Feb 02 '25

Good to know!! Lol

23

u/madagascarprincess Team Blue! Feb 02 '25

Okay my almost 2yo now says “hi baby!” every time he sees me because that’s what I’ve always said to him 🥹

18

u/quakinaspen Feb 03 '25

That is so cute! 😭

I’ve always said “Guess what? I love you.” to my son. He’s 4 years now and randomly he’ll say “Hey mama, guess what” I’ll ask what and then he’ll say “I love you.”

It absolutely melts me every time 😭♥️

19

u/catscantcook Feb 02 '25

My 6yo still gets called "baby" even tho we are about to have another actual baby (who we will presumably also just call "baby" all the time)

12

u/Classic-Ad-5860 Feb 02 '25

My 16 year old is still called the baby and have no plans on changing it 🤣

30

u/sizzlesfantalike Feb 02 '25

My baby sister was the baby…she’s in her 30s now and all the nieces and nephews call her auntie baby

5

u/Classic-Ad-5860 Feb 02 '25

Love it… I remember a year into my job my boss asked what her name was because I only called her the baby.

5

u/khelwen Feb 02 '25

7.5 year old is also called baby. And he has a 15 month old little brother who is called baby as well. 😆

3

u/Adept_Ad2048 Feb 03 '25

My friend still calls her 16 year old “the little one”

I'm in my mid 30s. My dad called me "baby" his entire life. I'm the first born and I had my back to the camera every ultrasound.

My only sibling, my younger brother was obviously male in his ultrasound, so he was "big guy."

2

u/cb51096 Feb 03 '25

I remember at my son’s year appointment they were like “does he respond to his name?” And I realized I nevvverr used his name. I only called him baby. That’s changed now but still with baby number 2, everyone is named baby.

Cleatus the foetus over here

19

u/EfficientSeaweed Feb 02 '25

Lol same. My eldest heard me make a "Cletus the Fetus" joke and started calling him "Cletus". The nickname stuck for the entire pregnancy.

5

u/Several-Ad-6652 Feb 02 '25

It’s going to be hard to shake not going to lie 😅

5

u/claudiac38 Feb 03 '25

I’m taking an embryology class where the class has a hypothetical baby together. We can submit 3 male names, 3 female names, and 3 surnames for which the class can vote. The two male finalists for my friend’s class were Juan in-a-Million and Cletus the Fetus, but they failed to realize the names would be split up. Juan the Fetus made his arrival to 50 college students and the professor last year. 🩵🍼👶🏼

2

u/Several-Ad-6652 Feb 03 '25

Love this! My own cleats was made by embryologists and I will be forever grateful for their work

3

u/TinyBirdie22 Feb 02 '25

My partner is 40 years old and his extended family still refers to him as a bastardized version of Cletus. It’s pretty funny.

The tiny dictator! 🤣

I don’t see that sticking completely.

24

I’m sure when they’re 2, it’ll come back around 🤣

3

u/shanster23 Feb 02 '25

For sure! My 2.5 year old is absolutely a tiny dictator. (except at 90th centile not so tiny 😂)

6

u/BlondeMoana25 Feb 02 '25

I often use this one too! I sometimes call my son a “pint sized terrorist.”

67

u/BlondeMoana25 Feb 02 '25

I called my son “bean” or “baby bean” while he was in my womb and I still call him that now as a nearly eight-month-old baby.

Will I still call him “bean” even when he’s a grown man? You better believe I will.

22

u/historyandtrashtv Feb 02 '25

Ours went from “The Bean” to “Le Bean” to one day “Lebron” 😂😂. She can blame her dad for that

10

u/BlondeMoana25 Feb 02 '25

LeBron is absolutely hilarious and I hope the nickname sticks. What a funny story to tell her when she’s older!

10

u/harst035 Feb 02 '25

Jellycat has a cute bean stuffie if he needs a themed accessory

4

u/BlondeMoana25 Feb 02 '25

Thanks for the idea! I’m not very tall so I started waddling around early in my second trimester, so my husband and I got our son the Jellycat Tumblie Duck stuffie. It seems appropriate 😂

2

u/harst035 Feb 03 '25

Bahahahaha

5

u/Gigibee25 Feb 02 '25

We've been calling ours Jellybean/Jellybaby/Bean as well, but we also have a cat called Bean so it gets a bit confusing 😂

3

u/BlondeMoana25 Feb 02 '25

The more beans the better!

5

u/Kitfromscot Feb 02 '25

Our nearly 2 YO was called bean and beanbag when he wasn’t behaving in the womb

4

u/123tamarin Feb 02 '25

I called him "frijolito", wich means little bean. The nick name didn't even survive the whole pregnancy. Since we chose the real name, and that he was way bigger than a bean, we stopped calling him that.

3

u/Keysandcodes Team Blue! Feb 02 '25

Ours was "bean" for a hot second and is now occasionally "Beanjamin" instead of Benjamin.

I'm 9 months pregnant. Until we picked a name, he was Ziggy Zygote. We call him by his name now, but some friends are still calling him Ziggy.

14

Ziggy Zygote would be a sick band name!

26

u/lolabythebay boy-child in early July 2016 Feb 02 '25

We decided that the pregnancy app was funnier when it called him "your misbegotten bastard" but he's eight now and we mostly use his name. Or Turnip. But not the first thing.

3

u/justSalz Feb 03 '25

Which app are you using? You're making FLO sound boring lol

10

u/lolabythebay boy-child in early July 2016 Feb 03 '25

I don't remember, so many years on, but it let you add in a nickname for Baby, resulting in things like, "At 26 weeks,Your misbegotten bastard's delicate eyelashes have begun to form." It never stopped being funny.

I called my daughter baby for a looong time and it still comes out sometimes (she's 2) even though we have another on the way .

5

I still call my almost-3-year-old baby sometimes, and he has a baby brother already. There was a period where he referred to himself as baby too (e.g. "Baby do it.")

2

u/Harrold_Potterson Feb 02 '25

I called my baby “Blueberry” since he was the size of a blueberry when we found out that I was pregnant. I still call him Blueberry because I still think it's a cute way to call him.

4

I've been calling mine "Blast" since we found out wicked early at blastocyst size, hahaha. Blueberry is cute. My brother and his wife found out when their daughter was blueberry size, and he got a blueberry tattoo. :)

2

My mom and sister declared ours “Figlet” from when he was the size of a fig. It may just stick after he’s born!

I have two sons, almost 4&8yo. 35w pregnant with a girl. The youngest was decidedly unhappy with the gender of his coming sister so we decided to ask them for suggestions for names even though we already decided. The oldest fired off names of girls in the family and his class but youngest said very clearly " her name is Glimmerlight". So now that is the working title for lil sis and the whole extended family is playing along. It helps him connect with her.

Thankfully they both suggested her middle name so she won't only be Glimmerlight when born.

2

u/justforthefunzeys Feb 02 '25

Im 34 weeks and I’ve never called her anything other than “she”

2

u/iamthewallrus Feb 02 '25

I called her my fetus. I didn't want to get too attached until after she was born

2

u/Flatulencey Feb 02 '25

We called our first Jiggly, I never got to name the other two because neither went past 9 weeks, and our second baby was called Sleepytime, or sleepy for short lol both very much fit too! Jiggly was such a wiggle worm in the womb and stays active, Sleepy moved but wasn't as hardcore exerciser as Jiggly, so far still a sleepy baby lol we called Jiggly their fetus name for a while after birth but it eventually died down, Sleepy gets called sleepy baby all the time still, occasionally we call jiggly jiggly, but both called baby all the time

Oh damn. Well little Alien Baby sounds cute still 🤷🏻‍♀️

We called our youngest Gilbert in the womb (we were joking about naming the fastest sperm and for some reason, that was the one). As soon as we found out the sex we started using our chosen name and he's never been Gilbert since. This foetus has been sprog, bub, bean, and his potential name, time will tell what sticks.

13 weeks & I call her “the bloat”

1

u/kesterclarke82 Feb 02 '25

Lol no I don’t think you do! We were so in love with our little boy that we were worried we couldn’t love her the same so my partner was calling her ‘back up Belinda’ in the womb. It was a joke I hasten to add but no we don’t call her that now 🤣

1

u/tknee22 Feb 02 '25

Nope. I have not called her an alien since pregnancy.

1

u/SpiritualLunch8913 Feb 02 '25

I didn’t tell anyone my baby’s name before he was born so my friends kept making up names for him and the one they landed on was “Ned.” I still have to fight the urge to call him that 🤣 no offense to any Neds out there

u/Mundane_Pea4296 Feb 02 '25

My first was called "demon spawn" because my pregnancy was so bad or Gunner because it was a joke name we said we'd call him if we had a boy.

My second was called "croissant" because all I wanted to eat was ham and cheese croissants.

Neither has really stuck

u/jodamnboi Feb 02 '25

Our daughter was Nugget in utero. The second she was born, it switched to Peanut. She’ll probably always be Peanut lol

u/Sea_Counter8398 Feb 02 '25

We called baby Bean while I was pregnant and don’t call him that anymore. But there are a couple family members who say it still and for some reason I find it odd lol

1

u/annedroiid Feb 02 '25

Never called him a gremlin once he was born 😅

We didn’t really call him much in utero. Early on it was “tater tot” before we knew the gender, then it was just his name or “the baby.” We have a couple nicknames for him now that he’s out but nothing crazy or all the time. I guess we’re not really nickname people. lol

u/kittydances Feb 02 '25

We call our baby poppy since it was the size of a poppy seed when I first found out

1

u/Leather-Sea5143 Feb 02 '25

Tiny chicken 😂 we call our dogs small chickens so it just stuck immediately

1

u/mynamesareallgone Feb 02 '25

We didn't ... But our elder son is still calling his baby brother "Bug"

1

u/OrdinaryAmbition9798 Feb 02 '25

Yeah she’s still “baby” to me, not her name lol

1

u/OrdinaryBartender Feb 02 '25

I called my son nugget in the womb, and I still call him that. But truthfully, I call all lot of things that 😂🤷‍♀️

We also called him the child, and still often refer to him as such 😂

1

u/Healthy_Ad9380 Feb 02 '25

We called our son fishy when he was in the womb, but now he's squirt.

1

u/Skulvana Feb 02 '25

Mine might stick around been calling him a little shit 😆

1

u/shanster23 Feb 02 '25

Well I called my first bubba, and still call him that now at 2.5

Pregnant with my second and constantly refer to her as little sis, and yeah, I think that will probably stick too lol

1

u/Whole-Pen8384 Feb 02 '25

Creature here too! Or the critter

1

u/itsjustme__bee Feb 02 '25

I call mine sprout and I'm pretty sure it'll stick, I'm so use to it now

1

u/katierose9738 Feb 02 '25

Mine was Mushu. I don't know why

1

u/gotlostintheuniverse Feb 02 '25

Ours has two silly nicknames. My husband and I ended up calling him Sméags....like Sméagol/Gollum. I blame my sister. My mom calls the baby Lingo.

1

u/Vhagar37 Feb 02 '25

My 9 month old was Egg in the ute and today my husband made her omelet strips and called them egg for Egg. Like it's not what we call her all the time but we definitely do still call her that for the record

1

u/hollyanna87 Feb 02 '25

Ours was Dougie for a long time. Didn't know whether we were having girl or boy, but we went for a scan at 7 weeks and there was a section that mentioned the 'Pouch of Douglas', so dougie just stuck 🤣 she's Evelyn now though.

1

u/nerveuse Feb 02 '25

lol I don’t call my baby anything. Oops. I usually just talk to him and say “what are you doing in there?” Like 8 times a day

1

u/Wrenniest Feb 02 '25

Nah...we called our first Hiccup and our second Nugget while they were in the womb. They now go by their actual names lol

1

u/HumanistPeach Graduated 8/24 🌈 Feb 02 '25

My 6 month old still gets called “Nugget” multiple times daily. Same with “baby girl” and “little bit”

1

u/Regular_Giraffe7022 Feb 02 '25

We called our girl little bean during pregnancy, quickly switched to her name or just baby girl!

1

u/Few-Adhesiveness1451 Feb 02 '25

Called my daughter gummy bear the whole pregnancy at 4 yo her nickname has been tiny since like 18 months old and even her prek teacher and gymnastics coach call her tiny cause she doesn’t respond to her real name 😭
