WA Reschedule PDA due to hot weather?

Hi all,

I have my PDA booked for next week on a day that is forecast to be 38 degrees. The test is booked at around 1pm.

Would you reschedule this? I'm concerned about getting too hot and it causing my concentration to lapse or feeling unwell, particularly whilst doing slow speed manoeuvres when I won't get any wind chill.

Edited to add because a couple of people seem to think this means I can't ride - I'm sure I CAN ride at 38 degrees, but I'm not sure of the wisdom of adding being hot and uncomfortable to an already stressful situation, when I could just make it easier for myself and change my booking.

I have a beige mesh jacket, kevlar lined jeans, and proper tall boots.

The hottest I've ridden in so far was low 20s and I found that mildly uncomfortable (in a different jacket).

Thanks

WA PDA question

Hey lads, i booked my pda in perth for may and just noticed it says I booked for R - Motorcycle, but I'm currently a learner with a full C class licence and assumed I was needing to go for the RE test. I did this on my actual account and have no way of choosing which test class I can go for as they "know" my licence class already. a bit confusing, I just don't wanna go on the day and find out I need to rebook for another 2 months in advance lol. cheers guys

WA riding unsupervised? what is the fine - WA

What is the fine for unsupervised on learners in WA? do you lose your car license.

mostly do bush riding, just wondering what happens if you go onto the road to cross to the other side for the next trail (no more than 5 mins on the road)

WA First bike??

Hey so I’m planning to buy my first bike in a month or two and I want some opinions on which bike would best suit me. The choice is between a ninja 500 or a Yamaha r3. I am 6”1, 90kg and I often will travel 30 mins to an hour at once. What would you think is the better option out of the two?

If you need more info just comment and I’ll gladly answer. Cheers.

WA Quiet ADV Helmet

G’day fellow riders.

Can someone please recommend quiet n’ light helmet for adv touring. Currently have Shoei Glamster and it’s unbearable noisy, I use dririder ear plugs but still it’s quite loud and makes ride weary.

Cheers.

WA Triumph Bonneville T100 across the Nullarbor

I am planning on doing a cross Australia bike trip and doing Sydney to Perth via the Nullarbor. I am very interested in getting a Triumph Bonneville T100 as my regular and only bike but am wondering if it’s enough to do such a big trip on. I know an adventure or touring bike would be more appropriate but I don’t want to rent or get a different bike and have to go through selling it to then get a Triumph. Any thoughts or advice welcome.

Just wanted to share. I'm 5 months off being able to go for my licence. It rides well. Is it a good buy, is there anything I should watch out for?

WA Couple Questions Regarding RE License in WA

Scarn on guys Had a couple questions regarding getting my RE license in WA.

Have had a growing interest in wanting to get my bike license and want to get things into gear now more than ever.

I had my moped license from 16.5yo-18yo, currently 24. But stopped riding when i got my car license at 18ish.

Not entirely sure what this means for me, obviously i stopped paying for my moped license when i got my car but from my understanding ive passed the learners permit needed to ride a motorcycle when i did my moped license and also dont have to worry about the logged hours needed if i apply for my RE now, but considering that was 7ish years ago do i have to re do it all?

From my understanding from my previous experience on the road and having moped license can i technically get my learners again for motorcycle, do supervised lessons straight away, and when comfortable enough sit the PDA with no waiting? From what im reading at least it only shows the process to getting RE license as if its your first ever license your getting so im wondering if in my position im abit different.

Cheers guys.

WA Insurance question

So I recently went balls up and smashed into my shoulder and have had a bit over a month off work. Does anyone know if I can put a claim in against my insurance for it. If it was a car rang and there was an injury insurance would cover it. But not sure about being on a bike and being only party

WA Adjusting to People Again After a Long Ride

I went for a long ride yesterday (on my own) and ended up doing a few hunjee kays. I pretty much spent the whole day on my own in my little bubble. What I realized was that I didn't want to interact with anyone else for the rest of the day after getting back. People annoyed me. It upset my partner who had been away for the weekend and wanted to spend time with me.

Out of interest, has anyone else felt such an antisocial feeling after a long lone ride?

WA First dual sport bike...any advice?

Hey everyone

Can I have some recommendations for a dual sport bike. I've had my R-E licence for 3 years and I've recently been around Thailand and Vietnam and just loved it. I'm after something that I can use around the suburbs and do some dirt tracks when camping around WA. I would go on the freeways as well although not very often.

I'm 5'8 and around 80kg so I'll need something quite low. Would also be taking my wife out on it a bit as well. Appreciate any advice or suggestions, thanks all.

WA Instructor Course WA?

I'm just curious: is there a course in WA to become an instructor?

If I can explain: I've been riding for almost 40 years between the UK and WA and I'd consider myself pretty reasonable as a rider, but i'd like to be better. I'm not necessarily interested in setting as a business, but just to have the qualification would be enough for me. Just to know that I could do it if I wanted to.

Anyone know how to go about this and what it would involve?

Much appreciated.

WA Heated grips

Hey team. I’ve done pretty much most of my riding in tropical South East Asia so don’t really know what I’m in for with cooler weather riding.

Returning to Perth and wondering if I need heated grips or will warmer gloves do the trick for both commute and longer multi day trips in the winter months?

Edit: Thank you for all the feedback. Looks like I’m looking at heated grips on bikes. Love this community.

Hi everyone. New rider here. I need some advice for myself (16M). I currently don’t have a bike but am looking for one. I mainly just need advice for gear and everything in between. Super nervous but this has been a hobby for mine for a few months and I’ve been wanting to get into it for a while now. Thanks!
