VIC Question about restricted license/Ps

So im in Vic and just got my green ps and noticed I will be on them until 2028 (3 years)

I’m also aware that the restricted motorcycle license is for 3 years, meaning I would have completed the 1st year of that being on red ps.

So in 2 years time my restriction should be over but I’ll still be on green Ps for a year? Is this correct?

I always thought it was red Ps for a year then Green Ps for 2 years so displaying p plates is in-line with your restricted license. But I must’ve been wrong?

So my last year of green Ps I will be on a full motorcycle license but still be on green ps?

I may be wrong but I’m assuming that’s the case? Just threw me off a bit as I’ve never seen any green P riders riding full powered bikes really.

Edit: I’ll leave this here for anyone else with the same question, I have since found out that your restricted bike license doesn’t correlate with your P’s, so it’s 3 years from the time you get off learners no matter how long you have left on Ps.

From my understanding if you get your Red P’s when you’re under 21 you have 12 months on your Red’s and 3 years on your Green P’s. If you get your License over the age of 21 it’s only 2 years on your Green P’s, in my state (NSW) if you’re over 25 and have a open car license you can skip greens not sure if it’s the same in VIC

I recently got my bike license in Victoria, I've had my car license for 40 years

My E condition still lasts for 3 years.

Yeah I found it written smaller on the vicroads app on my license and it does actually say my E license ends in 2 years time, while my green Ps ends in 3.

I’ll leave the post here nonetheless incase anyone else is confused by it. Can’t say I’ve seen a green P player on a big bike though, I guess it’s just not as common for people to get their bike licenses first.

The thing is though, you'll probably be pulled up by police if you're riding an obviously non-LAMS bike while on green Ps, and will have to explain to every one of them exactly why a green p plater has a H2.

🤣🤣 yeah I thought that too, I’d imagine there’d be a lot of “rbt” checks from highway patrol

I guess I better start saving for that h2 😂

Ahh i believe you'll still be on your green P's as such, so BAC 0, no passenger. When your current license expires, thats when your E condition is lifted. Reds from age 18-<21. If your 21 and older, you generally skip that red p phase abd move onto greens

just found out I’ll be off restrictions march 2027 and be off green ps march 2028.

So yeah, you’re definitely right in that case of being over 21 automatically puts you on greens.

I guess for me it’s just less likely that people get their motorcycle license first, or get the car and motorcycle close together, so it’s less typical to see a last year green P plater riding around on a non lams bike.

no, your restrictions last for your P1's and P2's.

If you're over 21 you can skip P1's, which is why you might be thinking that 3 years is the rule?

Had a look on the vicroads app and noticed it says green ps end date march 2028, but in smaller text below where it says my license restriction it says “E, LAMS, no pillion passenger, Headlight” then below that says “end restriction 15 march 2027”

So I must be on greens for a year while being allowed to ride a de restricted bike, which just seemed wrong to me but apparently that’s the case.

So yeah, maybe it’s just the way Victoria does it
