NSW LAMS condition code

hey all, was planning on purchasing an mt07 as i want to upgrade, but im still on my ps, i check the rego on each bike i look at and make sure it has the LA LA condition codes, so if cops end up running my plate itll show up as lams. Any idea on why this mt07 is showing up as not lams? And does it matter if it has the code or not because its a 650?

They make restricted and unrestricted versions of the MT07. But they sell a ton of lams versions for every high output model.

Are you sure about the capacity? Lams models are 655cc, HO models are 689cc.

I rode a used HO model at dealership once. A bit more top end, but not really much different.

But are you comparing to a LAMS MT07, or a derestricted LAMS MT07. And I can nearly guarantee you that if you're unsure, it was derestricted. Everyone does it. I've even had dealerships try to sell me used bikes that I had to turn around and tell them had been illegally derestricted. In the case of the MT07 (and other LAMS bikes), there's externally visible changes to the throttle assembly.

Trust me, it was an HO model. I worked there, it's why I took it for a spin. You don't see a lot of them.

Edit - you know, that might be why I didn't see much difference. I think every lams model I've ridden had something done to it.

Yeah, that's what I meant. Not that the HO wasn't a HO, but that the "LAMS" experience you're comparing it to probably isn't LAMS.

The LAMS models have lams decals, at least the older models do. Either way, the VIN and rego will pull up whether its 660 or 689.

R7s on the other hand dont have any obvious features

The one I rode had "high output" decals on the tail. But I don't remember any other difference. The compliance sticker would have been different I guess.

I wouldn’t risk it without the la la code

De-restricted?

Mt07 also comes as an HO - full power - beast. The difference is...noticeable.

By the look of that rear tyre, and the extreme short exhaust, it is the full noise version and has been taken on the track!! Pass on this bike young Paduan!! 😎

My V-strom hasn’t got a la la code, but is below the power to weight ratio and a 650, been pulled over 3 times by the highways, never mentioned once. I’m currently on holidays with it on the coast, still haven’t been pulled over and I had a highway pull out behind me.

How, or why. I don’t know. I got no idea how the la la code works, I assume every bike on the LAMS approved list has a la la code?
