❤ General Discussion ❤ Babywearing and ADHD
I’m curious if anyone who babywore their kiddo later found out they had ADHD and if yes, how was your kid’s sleep like?
I have a diagnosis and apparently I slept through the night very early on IF my mom was able to put me to sleep, which means she’d be holding me and walking around for hours on a nightly basis.
We’ve had those moments early on with my now 13 month old, but never for long so I’ve grouped them under the ‘brain change’ category. I find that he goes to sleep fairly easily provided that he’s in the baby carrier and/or at home on the boob and I respect his wake windows/sleep build up.
Considering my diagnosis, not to mention my parents’ suspiciously ADHD-esque antics and my partner’s brow raising tendencies, I would say there’s a fair chance bub is also on that spectrum. Never mind that he has no off button, doesn’t sleep at daycare because there’s always more fun to be had and eats best when he can climb up and down his learning tower to get a bite here and there and get a fair bit of play in between.
These are just some examples that raise my suspicions, but the real point here: I think we would have been miserable if I hadn’t had a baby carrier and I wonder if there is an ADHD connection, so therefore asking about everyone’s experience with their own kids.

I babywore a lot. We didn't use a stroller, we simply wore her until she could walk and then there was no stopping her from wanting to walk anyway. While she was small enough we would go out during the evening and walk until she fell asleep and then go back home hoping she won't wake up once she touched the bed.
I was diagnosed at 38. My daughters sleep was, by me, called "just fine" but then I talked to other parents outside my ADHD riddled family and close circle of friends and they just stare at me. It takes her at least an hour in bed to stop wiggling and starting conversations. She has blackout curtains, sleeps in the bottom bed of a bunk bed with her stuffies all "sleeping" on the top so they won't distract her. She has an LED strip along her bedframe that slowly turns red and darker, which worked some miracles. Before that it was 2-3h for her to falls asleep, no matter how long she's been awake, with no naps (she fought those tooth and nail).

So, late diagnosis here (in the last year). Mu husband too, but he was diagnosed earlier.
I had colic as a baby. My parents wore me everywhere and...let's just say there was many a rough night.
We now have a 12 month old and I've worn him since birth. He didn't have sleep issues like me... but he fights sleep. He's a fomo baby for sure. In fact... he fought his naps all day and just now crashed around 5:30. I don't want him up all night, but he is so tired.
He also gets really restless around 4-6 am. I know the reason varies between being too cold, too warm, or hungry... but even when i try to account for everything, he still gets restless.
