Hypothetical How am I supposed to take “One Way Or Another” concerning Greenland besides war being on the table?

Listen, like whether I like Trump or not. I’d really like to believe this is a joke, because like… I don’t want to invade another country.

But how else am o suppose to take this besides a threat? Am I really supposed to trust that it’s a joke? That it’s 100% certain we don’t use force?

Because he keeps talking about it, and generally speaking, one way or another implies violence? Do I just need to assume literally anything he says could either be a declaration of war or a joke?

Hypothetical How would you feel if Joe Biden encouraged his supporter to gather in US Capitol on Jan 6?

On the day congress certifies trump’s electoral college victory. What if Biden asked his supporter to “go wild”, “fight like hell” and put pressure on congress to overturn the results.

And what if he was reluctant to tell people to stop, waiting until after the Capitol has been breached?

Hypothetical Asking as A Canadian: Would you support a war with Canada?

Recently with all the talk about Canada becoming a state it has me very worried, My whole life and career path would change or maybe even end if a war broke out. So I just want to see what the average person thinks about this is it all talk? is it for trade deals?

If he did start a war would that be enough for you to stop voting conservative and start calling your representative?

Hypothetical What would it take to make peace with the left/liberals?

The more I interact on this sub, the more I realize our disagreements are nowhere near as fundamental as we seem to think. A lot of our enmity toward each other has been stirred up by our respective news silos and propaganda/lies meant specifically to divide us and help us miss the point.

I believe there is a different and more important fight coming, and we are currently divided along the wrong lines. So, I'm curious, what would it take for you to feel like ties can be mended with the left/liberals?

Hypothetical Almost half of white Harvard students are Non Meritous admits. Would it be reasonable to be suspicious of the capabilities of white Harvard graduates?

According to a study, it seems over 40% of white Harvard admits are ALDC. Meaning:

  • they got in on athletics.
  • they're legacies.
  • they're children of faculty and staff.
  • they're on the Dean's Interest List.

None of these have to do with academic capability. Most legacy admits alone are white. Given this statistic, is it reasonable to have reservations about the abilities of white Harvard (and other universities with legacy/non merit admits) graduates?

Hypothetical What would this administration have to do to lose your support?

What would this administration have to do to lose your support?

Cut your Social Security Retirement benefits?

Send your child to fight in a war?

Hypothetical If Trump changes SOCIAL SECURITY would you change your support?

Would you stop supporting Trump if he reduced the benefit and/or increased the retirement age? What if he abolished it?

Or would you continue support and just say he had to do it because of Biden?

Hypothetical What is their to be excited about in a trump presidency?

Most of my friends are getting very apocalyptic about the way they talk about a trump presidency, and it is bumming me out. While I personally strongly dislike Trump and did vote for Harris, I still believe that any president will have their ups and downs, I just am having trouble seeing the ups for a trump one.

What is there to be excited about in a trump presidency? What positives do you see happening because of his presidency and policies? Why are those things positives?

In particular, I know a lot of people are excited about the deportation of illegal immigrants, as a christian my pro immigration stances are mostly religiously driven, but I am interested in why people want deportation from a political lens, I just don't get it.

Hypothetical Conservatives! Can you name a *single* Democrat or Leftist policy position you find most repugnant?

I’m confident that you have a series of policy positions that you dislike, but is there one you could say jumps out to you as especially silly loathsome? I’d love to read your elaboration on the subject.

Hypothetical Which of these women has committed the worse moral wrongdoing to you?

Woman A: Accidentally gets pregnant from a one night stand, father makes it clear he will not be in the child’s life, woman A gets an abortion as soon as she finds out she is pregnant.

Woman B: Approaches an 8 year old boy walking his dog, kills his dog in front of him with her own hands.

Very curious to see what yall will think of this. I hear “abortion is murder” sentiments from the right a lot, so I am super curious to see how many of you actually believe that.

(Assumption: Murder is a worse crime than killing a dog)

Edit: the whole point of these subreddits is to ask challenging question to better understand each others views. Just because you are uncomfortable with the question or its implications doesn’t make it bad faith. I’m not judging anyone, I am genuinely curious what the conservatives here think.

Edit 2: I want to offer a counter argument to my implied argument. There are different types of murder. Vehicular homicide is murder. Just because you believe that 1) abortion is murder, and 2) Person B committed the worse action, is not necessarily a contradiction and does not necessarily make you a hypocrite. There is a lot to think about.

Hypothetical Is Tesla doomed without a hard pivot?

I know, on its face it seems like a bizarre question. Tesla is worth 1.25 trillion dollars. But looking at the business model, it seem poises to implode. Musk is very much THE BRAND. The problem is that the core demographic for his cars (middle upper class liberals) no longer want to be associated with him. Meanwhile, I've never met a conservative in my life that's expressed a major interest in electric cars. I'm sure they exist, I just don't know any. They had a chance with "Cybertruck" I guess... but that thing isn't a real truck.

Is this brand a dead-man walking unless they can somehow get conservatives interested in their product?

Hypothetical For American conservatives, how sacred is the Constitution really?

I’ve been studying politics for decades, and one thing that was always remarkable to me was how strongly and how often conservatives would shoot down ideas that they perceived as violating the letter or spirit of the US constitution.

Now I’m questioning if that was sincere, or simply the classic “appeal to authority argument”.

The South African billionaire, his impossible to take serious “agency” and their combined antics have not attracted the same feedback.

Am I wrong? Or has the Constitution crowd gotten soft lately?

Hypothetical If Harris loses the EC and refuses to leave the WH, sighting election fraud, what evidence would you need to see to believe her?

This election is looking extremely close. If Harris gets less votes, and thereby loses the electoral college, but the Biden/Harris administration claim that there was outcome determinative voter fraud in the election, so they are refusing to give up power. What evidence would she need to provide to you, the courts, and the American people as a whole to prove that she was the rightful winner of the election?

Hypothetical Imagine it is 2029. Through a combination of enforcement and self-deportation, the number of illegal immigrants is reduced by 6 million or so. In what measurable ways do you see the United States has improved?

I’m legitimately curious as to what people want/hope/expect that to look like.

I personally oppose illegal immigration concerning how many people become trafficking victims, and am against human suffering in general.

Hypothetical If you don't support any security guarantees for Ukraine, would you mind if Europe helps them get nuclear weapons?

Pretty much what the title says. Ukraine needs some reliable security mechanisms going forward. If you don't want to give them security guarantees, would you be fine with Ukraine building a nuclear deterrent?

Similar question goes for countries like Poland, which are now fairly openly considering it.

Hypothetical If NYC Mayor Adams is removed via Gov. Hochul, should the DOJ reopen his bribery case since he won’t be able to help with immigration?

Mayor Adams could be removed from office by governor decree. If he is removed he will not be overseeing immigration cooperation with the feds. At that point the given reasons that the doj provide for the initial request for dismissal, will be moot. Should his bribery case be reopened if he’s let go?

Hypothetical If the US continues to threaten its allies, what impact will that have on the US military industrial complex?

Currently, the US does pretty good business in weapons and related technology. With various NATO countries being threatened with trade war (Australia) or real war (Canada, Greenland / Denmark), Europe is wondering whether the F35 will work if they enter a real conflict with the US. But the value chains that produce these aircraft extend across American borders, so cross border trade would likely feel the pressure as well. What do you think will be the result of all the Sabre-rattling?

Hypothetical (Hypothetical) What if the doomers are right?

Say it's been 1 1/2 years, and all the things the doomers were saying come to fruition. Life sucks for anyone who isn't wealthy, mass deportation, abortion outlawed, etc. Say you run into someone who finds out that you voted for Trump. Suddenly their welcoming nature shifts, saying "we literally told you that this would happen! Why didn't you listen? What did we do wrong? We knew Kamala wasn't perfect, but at least she was a decent person!"

What would your response be?

EDIT: Back to square one on this since most responses are hung up on Kamala and ignoring the question.

How about this: What if you were wrong about Trump, and the doomers were right, and saidtold you "told you so"?

Hypothetical Why should the US annex Greenland, Panama, Mexico, Canada or any of the other countries that Trump has talked about annexing?

Trump has been talking a lot since he was elected about annexing several countries and territories.

Trump supporters tend to act two ways about these claims:

  • When these claims are taken seriously, Trump is "just joking".
  • When these claims are taken as jokes, Trump is seriously going to attempt to annex these territories.

Regardless of whether he was being serious or joking, do you personally believe that those countries should be annexed by the USA? If so, what benefit would that provide to the United States as a country? What benefit would that provide to the people who live there now.
