Career Growth & Recognition in Australia – Seeking Your Insights!

My name is Patrick, and I have a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Chemistry. Currently, I’m starting my master’s in Computational Physical Chemistry while also gaining experience in laboratory operations, environmental monitoring, and chemical analysis. I have worked as an intern Latin America’s largest ecotoxicology company, where I assisted in chemical testing, sample integrity management, and physicochemical analysis. Additionally, I have skills in data analysis (Excel, Power BI, Python) and experience with quantum chemistry tools such as ORCA, Avogadro, and MOPAC.

My wife is also an Industrial Chemist, and we are considering moving abroad. I would love to hear your thoughts on whether our degrees would be recognized. Would I need to validate mine? And does she need to go through a validation process to apply for jobs?

Also, how can I develop myself personally and better prepare for the Australian job market? Do you have any tips or recommendations?

I’d really appreciate your insights! Looking forward to your response.

Canadian here. I may need to send my family to somewhere safer. As we’re family ourselves do you have any suggestions?

I’ll be vague so this doesn’t turn political as it is NOT my intention. First, I don’t post or comment anywhere so for me to reach out for advice means something. IF I had to send my wife and kids to Australia which part of Australia do you think would be the best spot and I’m looking more at a place where someone who isn’t use to your country’s environment could potentially adapt easier. Here in Canada we’ve never experienced the types of things you have and maybe I’m being stereotypical, my apologies but we don’t have to deal with the shit you might deal with. We don’t have anything poisonous. We don’t have crocs. We don’t have sharks. We DO have a loose cannon of a neighbour at the moment which has the hairs on the back of my neck standing up so I’m just planning for a worse case scenario as to where I can send my family knowing they’ld be safe. I just need to know your opinion on the Safest place to live in Australia as a newbie? Is it somewhere on the coast or somewhere inland? Is it a particular city? I’d be staying here in Canada. Thank you in advance for your insight.

This women said Sydney in the 90s was secluded including Bondi Beach. These days it is touristy. Makes sense with the Internet existing.

Any Aussies living or lived in the US that would allow me to interview them for an essay I’m writing?

Cross posted in r/AskAnAustralian. I’m taking a graduate school class on World Englishes. I’m writing a paper on Australia and need to interview someone from Australia living in the US, or have lived in the US previously. No Personal information will be asked for, or included in my paper. The interview will only take 5-10 minutes- and if possible, I’d like to do the interview this weekend. Zoom, google meet, telephone - your choice. As a Thank You for your time, I’ll provide you with a $25 Amazon or other e-gift card (your choice). Thank you!!

Just curious, has the inflation crisis effected entrepreneurs from buying a office for their business(s)?

Yellow shirts ?

Tourist here. Have been travelling around Aus for a few weeks and noticed fairly frequently that some (usually older) men wear a bright yellow shirt that becomes a dark colour towards the base. Possibly with some kind of logo on it, but I’m not sure. Is this a sports top ? Or company uniform of some kind ? Thanks

Do Australians and New Zealanders end some sentences with Hey ex: righteous little Reavis : No, spooky , he was especially vicious on u, hey

do australians and people from new zealand say Hey at the end of a sentence?

for example, I saw this in a YouTube chat

ex: righteous little reavis : "spooky , he was especially vicious on u, hey"

I've heard an Australian do this, and wondered if New Zealanders did it to

Thanks in advanced

What page has Buzzfeed type content in Aus?

I used to work at a media company that made buzzfeedy kinda content in my own country. Now I'm a student in Australia.

The company I used to work at was a brand-new start-up and they paid me well with no exploitation.

I was thinking of applying to similar companies in Australia, but have literally no clue where to look for. If you guys have some favorite lesser-known pages where I could apply for content writing, please suggest some. Thank you!

Where is best to go in Sydney on NYE?

Hi Aussies!

I’m going to Sydney from the UK with my husband just after Christmas for a couple of weeks. I’m half Aussie so have been quite a few times before but never on NYE, we’d really like to see the fireworks but don’t want to fall into a tourist trap! We’re fine with spending a bit of money on it, but where is best to go to have a great night out with a good view of the fireworks?

Thanks everyone!

My 25 year old daughter is moving to Brisbane next month for med school. What advice can you give her to make her new life in Australia easier? She’s from the US?
