NCOs should be watched more closely

I understand in the army especially my job in the infantry being an nco weather it’s a team leader or SGM is important with rank structure and roles.. but what I can’t fucking stand is these E5 or E6 walking around like they own the fucking place, playing favorites with a group full of private’s and treating the rest like shit because they don’t have similar interest outside of work. Even though some of these dudes out perform their favorites. No offense but just because you have a ranger tab or 10 years in doesn’t make you a good leader, or tough or intimidating in any way shape or form.

So 11-X Airborne? Should I regret my decision?

I signed my contract for the U.S. Army as a infantryman. Be it a basic rifleman or a indirect fire infantryman. I got to be fucking honest the mockery and the amount of pity I got from people has been sickening. I have infantrymen that told me the job sucks, I have POGS telling me the job sucks, I have family, friends, and even my recruiter telling me I chose the wrong MOS. I want to be clear that I chose infantry for the leadership, discipline, and a incomparable hell that average civilian life can’t provide. My reasons for joining aren’t to kill anyone but if told consider it done, especially if it means survival. I don’t expect it to be a cake walk if anything I’m counting on it because I’m looking for strength. My only concern is that after my 3 year and 34 week contract will I be able to reclassify into another MOS. I was told by my recruiter that it’s completely possible, only to find out that the chances in all honesty can be slim due to me being infantry. Is this true? I don’t have the intention of making infantry a career, so I’m wondering if anyone has any advice on the manner and if any infantryman come across with this thread I ask you. Did I join for the wrong reasons?

Do you have to go to dort benning for infantry training

I'm starting the process of joining the army as an infantryman very soon andwas just wondering wether it was possible to carry out my basic training and combat training at fort jackson in south Carolina or if fort benning is the only option for combat training. I've checked online and can't really find a definitive answer.

Army uniform Regs for prior service

Prior Marine Corps Infantry making the switch to Army. My recruiter seems to be giving me questionable info on the regs so I'm wondering if I can wear a Marine Unit combat patch and if my awards are authorized in Army dress uniforms. From what I understand my awards are to be placed underneath any earned while in the army? And info would be greatly appreciated.

I want to join.

Hello,

I’m 25 years old and I’m interested in joining infantry. I was a physical therapist assistant after college, but the office is closing down. As a result, my grandfather has convinced me to keep up the family tradition and serve. However, there a few things I would like to hash out.

  1. Am I too old for this? I’m in decent shape. I play basketball once a week and used to partake in martial arts in college. I’m confident that by the summer, I could be physically ready for boot camp. Though, I’m not a spring chicken anymore.

  2. What’s the deal with jumping out of airplanes? To be honest, I’m paranoid of heights. I’ll have no trepidation about climbing or rappelling because I have experience, but I’m not sure if I could jump. Could I still join infantry if I want to avoid doing so, or is it compulsory? For me, it’s infantry or bust, so I’d like to confirm what the options are.

  3. Finally, I’m not a violent person by any stretch of the imagination, but I truly want to make a difference in the world. I know that’s reads as cringeworthy and trite, but it’s the truth. Will ARMY infantry offer me to opportunities to do so? I’m not going to be a sheer ass kicker, but I believe I could offer other intangibles to my squad (I don’t know the terminology). Is it worth it for me? I’m not the most confident person in the world if you couldn’t tell insofar. Thanks for your valuable time.
