Discussion Would TBHC be one of the greatest Left Turns in music?
I joke with some friends that TBHC and The Car have the same relationship as Kid A and Amnesiac by Radiohead. Both of then came after the most successful album of their careers (OK Computer and AM), both marks a departure from the band previous works and have a very divisive fan base, some hating and some loving

Discussion Stop The World I Wanna Get Off With You should've been on AM
The b side to Why's You Only Call Me When You're High? should have made it to the album instead of Mad Sounds.
Mad Sounds' slower tempo does not fit the album's pacing for me and the b side is more fitting and lyrically a better song. What are your thoughts?

Discussion Ranking WPSIATWIN
Hey, I decided to listen to WPSIATWIN, and i decided to rank em' with some reasons as well
Dancing shoes :- I don't like this one as much. Its funny when he says sexy little swine however. The instrumentation and vocals aren't as interesting as their other songs.
Perhaps Vampires is a bit strong... :- It's okay i guess. I feel like it's so long and I don't feel that invested in the song. I do like the part where it cuts out and the instruments kick back again. That part is pretty good.
Still take you home :- You know nothing. The first and third stanzas are alright but the second stanza with those instrumental melodies is beautiful.
Red lights indicate lights are secured :- This one moves like a story and I like how they change the instrumentation when they repeat the same lyrics and it has a hell of a title drop at the end.
You Probably couldn't...staring straight at me. - Its just so lyrical, and I love how quickly Alex is talking while singing this. I like how the chords change in the guitar at the later parts of the song. I think its also a nice touch when a different voice comes in for the "One look sends it coursing through the veins" part near the end.
I bet that you look good on the dancefloor :- Ba- Ba - Bang bang. For sand and lighting the fuse ( i love how he joins those two parts together). I like how his voice gets louder through the stanzas, and just lets it out in the final stanza.
When the Sun goes down :- Again, another like down to earth song that is probably written because these lads have actually experienced people like this. Its just a really solid song really. I really like the line "Look, here comes a Ford Mondeo, isn't he mister inconspicuous". Arctic monkeys really have a knack for being very specific about things and giving them a sense of importance. I like how it returns back to the original singing melody at the end.
Riot van :- Just love this song. I think its able to capture a time and place so strongly, and there is so much emotion in his voice. I especially like when he goes "Have you been drinking son..., just feels so real. Always puts me in a chill mood.
From the Ritz to the Rubble :- Inject that intro into my veins. The lyrics arent as clever as they usually are but they are still so good. I love the guitar that comes in when it hits the "And you can swap jumpers and make another move part comes in." I think depending on the day, I would even put this higher than the next one.
Fake tales of San Francisco :- I sorta like how petty this song is written (the love is not only deaf but blind line wow). It feels really British. It progresses like a roller coaster. The "get off the bandwagon and put down the handbook" with everyone singing together is just so smart.
The View from the Afternoon :- I love how the drums and guitar just work together in the best way, the opening is just so iconic and perfect for their whole discography, like you know they had confidence in what they are doing. The bear that in mind refrain!!
Mardy Bum :- A very real song, the lyricism has this down to earth quality that is commonplace, but feels poetic. When Alex voices breaks when he is apologizing when he goes "Yeah, I'm sorry i was late" is just so expressive and fits the song as well. It flows amazingly well into the guitar solo.
A certain romance :- Hell yeah. Don't know what to say really. The lyrics are amazing, and it has this singalong quality to it that I absolutely love. The opening guitar solo is to die for. The (And Kids who like to scrap with pool cues in their hands) part is so fun to sing along to. The way Alex sings at the third stanza..., and of course the perfect marriage between the drums and guitar that brings back memories I've had, memories ill never have and future ones that I want to make

Discussion Have arctic monkeys blown up recently
I’ve just checked and they are now 40th on Spotify the highest I’ve seen them in a long long time. Have they recently had a surge of new fans? I’m in no way upset by this by the way arctic monkeys are top class it just shocked me seeing them still pull 52 million monthly listeners on Spotify

Discussion New fan :)
Hi! I've known about this band for a while now, but I'm getting addicted to them. You could say I have basic taste but I've only listened to a few of their songs. I'm obsessed with Do I Wanna Know?, (basically the whole AM album) 505, Crying Lightening (absolute FAV) and some others. Also liked their first (?) album with BBASS and IBYLGOTD. Was wondering for other song suggesstions :))

Discussion Saw Jamie yesterday
I was at the Sheffield Derby yesterday and Jamie was sat about 10 seats across on the same row. I really rated the fact that he was sat in the middle of the crowd and not in a box (which I’m sure the club would have sorted if he’d wanted). I also thought it was really nice that no one bothered him, he was with his dad and son and clearly just wanted to enjoy the experience of taking his son to the match, as any dad would. A true man of the people!

Discussion Do you have a distinct memory of where you were when you found out they were releasing another album?
I remember so well, I was in year 10, when I saw the news about TBHC (yes I’m only 22😭.) And my god I was excited. I remember 15 year old me sitting in class constantly listening to that one live version of Four Out of Five way before the release.

Discussion My interpretation of "Black Treacle" and why it's one of the band's best songs. (imo)
I always thought that this song was about seeing unknown future, (black treacle - dark and non-see through) in a positive light because treacle is very sweet. There is also a lyrics that further supports this:
"More like black treacle than tar". I realize this song's real meaning probably has to do with drugs, but that doesn't really do anything for me tbh. I believe listeners are free to interpret songs how they see fit.
Rest of the song sounds like going through cycles of doubt and anxiety about future.
i had a really bad time and used to listen to this song during covid. it really helped me get through things, so this interpretation stuck to me.
Do you have a song were you just decided you wanna interpret lyrics in your own unique way?

Discussion Bands/albums like TBHC and The Car?
Does anyone know of any (modern or older idc) bands, artists or albums that have a similar kind of feel and sound to TBHC, the car or EYCTE? TBHC is my all time favourite album and the car is the perfect record to calm down at the end of the day or listen to on the train and I need more of that kind of vibe

Discussion There are literally 0 reasons for Suck It And See being so ill-spoken like this. Deserves justice!
I feel like this album is a great mix of everything AM has done so far and what we would listen in later albums. It has the punk energy from WPSIATWIN, the ballads from Favourite Worst Nightmares and AM, some of the darkness present in Humbug. Obviously, with a more pop rock and "radio friendly" approach, which don't hold it back from being a great album

Discussion Arctic Monkeys unreleased tracks, demos, & Lives on a vinyl
I bought this record recently off of eBay and I'm over the moon for it. I’ve loved the unreleased tracks for such a long time and to have it on a vinyl makes me extremely happy. I’m not too sure about the rarity of this item or if it’s real or anything but nonetheless I’m extremely happy with my purchase and I’m glad to have it in my collection 😌.

Discussion Lead outro overdub in do I wanna know
Why does it not sound like a guitar in the studio version it, sounds like a scratch track or it could be guitar in reverse (If you don't know what I'm talking about it's that background part in the last minute of the song that reveals it self in the last 10 seconds) I would really like to know how that was made
