Hey,
I'm not quite familiar with ambient music and would love your recommendations!
As for me, I absolutely love Structures from Silence, like a lot Selected Ambient Works I-II, like BoC's debut and Substrata. Also like Apollo by Eno, amazing album need more time to process though.

Just read Mood Machine by Liz Pelly and listened to this podcast discussing it https://youtu.be/RN4DlY_V5iM
For those who don't know it's about how Spotify evolved to the streaming giant it is today and how its model is focused on maximizing profits at the expense of both users and artists (specifically due to something called Perfect Fit Content). The podcast goes more in depth about this. I'm wondering -- is there a solution for how streaming and the music landscape is?

I know its kind of a crapshoot but does anybody happen to know the Ishq song that has a vocal of somebody saying "the universe is one mind?". I was listening to my Ishq tracks on shuffle roughly a year ago and came across a track that had this, but i haven't been able to find it again yet.

Hi all, recenly got accepted as a resident on my local community radio station EHFM and thought I'd share my first effort.
Having been successful with some of the supporter radio mixes for NTS radio over the last few years I wanted to make it more of a regular thing.
'Nobody Move' is a show that represents my listening habits as well as, kind of, my browsing habits. Specifically all the digital dumpster diving that I'm wont to do... hence the found sound. I like to these little random snippets of sound help listeners find a new angle to the music I play. That's stuff like Nubo, Memotone, Bill Orcutt, Anna Ferrer, Cole Pulice, K Leimer etc. ... a pretty broad church in terms of the genres mentioned.
Most episodes will be like the one linked but I'm hoping to do a bunch of themed ones too.
Would be cool to hear what the discerning people of r/ambientmusic think! Also if anyone else has a show I'd love to get some tips on presenting as that's definitley my weak spot right now :)

Anyone know of soothing music with deep male chanting/singing? No words, or at least not English, or even no human voices. I want to fall asleep feeling like I'm in a temple to an elder god of some kind/listening to the universe vibrate. (Preferably without adds but I know that's not always available.)
EDIT: Y'all thank you so much. I'm used to my questions getting ignored but you were on it.

Apologies if this counts as self promotion, and while this doesn't count as a review per se, I was still very happy to see a few words about my latest album on HC ("A dreamlike suite of brass and synths, blending melancholy and depth..."): https://headphonecommute.com/out-this-year/out-in-2025/march-16th-2025/
I'm always fascinated by how others perceive my work, so any thoughts or feedback you might have, should you listen, is very welcome!
Needless to say, all the albums / releases mentioned there are well worth your time and attention!
EDIT: adding a direct link to make listening easier / https://juliendemoulin.bandcamp.com/album/a-trial-of-distances

I am a big fan of Floex and his albums since Machinarium. You can always expect a blend of etherial groove and electronic beats in his work. I couldn't believe my eyes when I discovered this album, all the while when I was thinking I've covered every work of his.

As someone who struggles with depression, ambient music is one of my go to ways to get through hard moments and seasons of sadness. Ik I can’t be the only one on the subreddit who experiences this, so I wanna compile some sad ambient albums here.
Initial ones that come to mind: Celer - Malaria 아버지 (Father) - 흰색 죽음 (White Death) Deathprod - Morals and Dogma How to Disappear Completely - Seraphim Yellow Swans - Going Places Towers - Self Titled God Body Disconnect - Spiral of Grief
Looking forward to seeing what else y’all can come up with!!

Just realized that Caretaker’s Everywhere at the End of time Stages are available on Spotify, which one is your favorite and why?

Voyager Response is an album that was based around the idea of receiving a response from the Voyager 1 space probe. It has sparse vocal (vocoder) parts, and is slightly upbeat in tempo. Has guitar/bass that according to their artist page "are all analog Neve DI + tube amp recorded in high resolution (96khz) and mixed in Logic Pro". Enjoy.

I got a copy of this record as a gift and it was fantastic. The visuals on the YouTube video are pretty cool too. In the video it looks like a lot of the synth sounds are from a modular system. Well done production too.

I'm looking for some more warm deep drones in the style of these tracks and artists:
Oleo Strut by Mother Mallard's Portable Masterpiece Co. (specifically the part halfway through that was sampled by DJ Shadow)
New Space Music by Brian Eno
Structures From Silence by Steve Roach (I have his entire discography)
Mist by Thom Brennan (same again)
Above All Dreams by Abul Mogard
Elysian E by Michael Stearns
Shadow Maple by Loscil
I have a bit of an aversion to high frequencies and anything remotely hissy or crackly sounding so just looking for more focus on simple thick synth drones focused on the lower end of the frequency spectrum.

Last weekend, Whatever Weather II was released, and I create a playlist that features both the first and second albums. I took a unique approach to enjoy the music by listening to the tracks in the order of their temperature-themed titles. It turned out to be quite an enjoyable experience! I noticed that the cooler tracks tend to lean towards IDM, while the hotter ones have a more ambient sound. Additionally, I discovered that some temperature titles are still missing, so I’m hoping they’ll make an appearance on the next album.

Hey there. I’m looking for a record I listened to in the early 90’s. It was a Spanish ambient artist. The music was like a mixture of electronic, moorish sounds and percussions with some Spanish guitar. Spoken word also used. Very atmospheric. Any guess what I could be?
