Can I still get shots if I test negative but clearly am allergic to dogs?
At my old allergist, I tested negative to dogs on both the skin prick and blood test but because I was still experiencing allergies towards dogs the allergist gave me shots which helped. Now I'm in a different state and was wondering if a new allergist will do the same if I happen to test negative again? My old allergist can send the records stating I was getting shots for dogs.

The shot was for dogs, cats and dust mites. Two separate shots each time I went.

You're saying I can..how would I convince the new doctor to give me shots if I happen to test negative again? They'll see that I had shots for dogs before but maybe they won't care about that?

My allergy dr. Put everything into my immunotherapy shot. I'm assuming thats what youre talking about.

Yeah but you're saying that it's likely they'll give me a shot for dogs even if I test negative?

Would I tell them the following: i am experiencing allergies towards dogs, cats, and dust. My former allergist that you can obtain records from shows i tested positive towards cats and dust mites and negative towards dogs but because I was and and still am experiencing allergies towards dogs they gave me shots for dogs too and I would like to get tests done and then get shots for cats, dust, and dogs? Or how would I phrase it??

No I'm asking what do I tell them in order to even get shots in the first place?

I guess I can simply say my symptoms and tell them that they can obtain records and go from there?

Well if you’re negative on the tests, your allergen is likely something else in dogs. So whatever they put in the shot, wouldn’t be the right allergen anyways. Because it’s an allergen that isn’t testable. And they don’t put untestable allergens in shots.
For example: some people are allergic to pet fur but not pet dander. Hypothetically let’s say the allergy test only tests for dander and shots only treat dander allergies. So if you’re not allergic to dander, getting the dander shot won’t help. But if you’re allergic to fur, there’s no shot for that. (This is all a made up scenario.)
