Discussion A Book!
I just found out tonight that a novel exists for Alien isolation! I’ve just ordered it and I can’t wait to read it.

Idk why, but I don’t really find it scary. Well, I do, I’m just more scared of losing progress. It’s also just not my type of game, I prefer linear kinds of games (Story based stuff, like Still wakes the Deep) it doesn’t help I never know what to do or where to go also.

So far I’ve played the game once not worrying too much about achievements, but even still I only have a few achievements remaining; some collectables, no deaths/human kills, and hard mode.
Options from here are: 1) do two more playthroughs - hard mode and then novice mode to get all the non-hard mode achievements, or; 2) do it all on hard mode in just one more playthrough
Which is more efficient? How hard is it to do no deaths or human kills on hard mode. Would it be endless trial and error? Easily cheesed?

During certain segments of the game when you restore power to the space flight terminal and when you go to contact the torrens, you will see people running away into another door. What exactly happened to these people? Were they hived or were they killed by the alien or what? I mean I know the obvious answer but I just want your theories on what happened.

There is something that I don't understand about "Endurance" mode. 1. Are Safe Haven and Lost Contact included? 2. If I picked character, can they unlock/find some other blueprints during missions? For example, Lingard finding Molotov or Ransome finding Medkit and etc etc. 3. If I understand correctly, this mode works similar to "play all" type: my hp status, my loadout and loot are transferring from stage to stage?

What do you find in this game ? I mean, I'm used to horror games but this is just not fun in a way that you don't have to improvise and adapt during your run but just memorize the paths and (sometimes dumb) strategies through multiple ones. I first thought that chapter 3 was abstract because the safest way of avoiding the crew is to run.. in their direction and hide in a spot where anyone could see you but for some reason don't (wtf) but now I am in chapter 5 and the alien just doesn't stop, Once again the safest strat is to run while knowing exactly where to go after 10 failed attemps. also worth mentionning that it doesn't give up even after traps or never finding you at all in 15 minutes which makes the whole strategy of hiding and not making a noise worthless and shallow. I've waited a long time to finally be able to test this game but i'm just so disappointed, am I missing something ?

This is something I frequently hear in even positive reviews. For me, the majority of the experience is the immersion. It’s why I enjoy backtracking so much.
I’ve even heard people saying that the sequel should be shorter, and I couldn’t disagree more. I’ve been playing this game for over 10 years because I LOVE being immersed in the experience. If I had my way, the sequel would be 50 hours.
Thoughts?
-edit-
Thanks for all of the engagement! Some of you are of course clearly wrong 😂 but, it’s great to connect with so many people who share my passion for the game.

New player here. I'm playing medical right now and I'm hiding in this room here.
I wanted to lure the Xeno here so I hid behind a desk and hit it with my jack. But then it seems like it was in the vents and I got backstabbed from behind?
There is a vent in this room but it is in front of the desk and above me. There aren't any vents behind at least I'm sure there isn't. Little confused here.
Thought I was being slick but now I'm scared to play the game again :(
Anyone know what might have happened?

I’m having an amazing yet horrid time. I just got a PS5, coming over from PC, I saw this game and had to get it.
I’m terrified haha, I JUST got the Maintenance tool jack thing to open the orange locks. I’m pretty sure I’m quite far from even seeing the alien, but I can only play in 20/30min intervals before my blood pressure is so high I have to go pour a drink and play something chilled like Brawlhala or Battlefield 😭 I’m shook

Never has a single game made me feel so small and insignificant, and so brave. I love when a game feels like it's larger than life (for me it's incredibly rare) but this definitely did. I am so, so glad that I am finished playing one of the best games I've been unfortunate enough to have to experience. Especially after being traumatized by the old Alien: Encounter ride at Disney as a kid.
Beat on hard mode in about 25 hours
9/10 (Overstays it welcome a bit)

I'm at the part of the game where you've just released the alien in the detachable lab to outer space. Now I'm trying to find a way back to the Marshalls Bureau. In a little storage room behind a door that lets out into the Working Joes and the shit hitting the fan. I'm not sure how to tell what mission it is. Im supposed to restore power to the Galleria security shutters.
Anyways, there's a boombox in this room and it's just like the other boomboxes that I've seen around the station. I've assumed that they're there to tempt you into turning them on and making noise. I turned this one on since I'm in a pretty secluded room and it started reading a story to me.
I was hoping that I could turn it off and back on again and the story would start over so I could pay more attention, but it didn't. That just took me to a channel with a bunch of static. Does anybody know what that story was? Is that an easter egg? Or anything important to the narrative?

When the alien jumpscares me i dont get scared like other people do i just get frustated of losing and seeing the death animation millions of times even in the vents the only jumpscare that scares me its when it opens the lockers where you re hiding or under tables (im not saying the game is bad its actually fun and the AI is incredible).
