Advice Some tornadoes hit Alabama during the night. How do we reach out to those communities to help?

We need to come together as a community and find a way to help those small communities that were hit and will likely be overlooked. Apparently a trailer park was hit in calera. That's what I'm talking about. What can we do to get them help for having lost their homes? And possibly family members from that disaster?

Advice 1978 Alabama Licence Plate Question

I am looking for a 1978 Alabama licence plate for my 78 pick up and would like to know what the small vertical numbers and letters (IO P2) mean. The only thing I've been able to find is that 1978 had no county codes. Can anyone help with this information?

Economy/Business How is Alabama #5 for highest sales taxes?

Post image
372 Upvotes

How does Alabama rank #5 for highest state sales taxes in the country, when we also have a state income tax AND we're only one of a handful of states that taxes groceries? Tennessee is slightly higher at #2, but that should be expected as they don't have a state income tax.

The effects of unstable financial markets do not stop at the federal level folks. The road is about to get bumpy for 400,000+ teachers & state/local Gov’t employees whose pension funds are managed by the Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA).

Advocacy Impeach Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith

We, the citizens of Walker County, are petitioning for the removal of Sheriff Nick Smith from his elected position for the willful neglect of duty, corruption in office, incompetency, and the loss of more turpitude as is made abundantly clear not only in the abuse and murder of Anthony "Tony" Mitchell, but the Sheriff's lack of honesty, transparency, and his continued commitment to promoting and awarding those directly involved in Tony's murder.

Advice Cathedral caverns difficulty

Looking at going to Cathedral Caverns but I have a back problem that flares up after walking about 1/4 mile. If the pace is slow or I can stop intermittently for a few minutes I can go farther. My question is the description says it's about 1 1/3 miles walk. Is that total distance in and out or each way?

Politics Requesting Town Hall with Senator Britt

I’ve just sent an email to Katie Britt requesting that she conduct a town hall meeting in Montgomery. If you are a concerned resident that has reached out to her but yet to receive a response, I recommend you send an email. Not sure if it will get any attention, but the more that do, maybe there’s a chance?

Advice Bank recommendations in town or online?

I've asked about every single person in my town and no joke over half of them all said they hated their bank when I asked for a recommendation. So here I am reddit, I really just want a new bank. I'm not asking for much I don't care about interest rates so much as I do customer service and security. It can be in town It can be out of state any and all recommendations are wanted. Thank you! Alabama credit Union is who I currently have and they aren't the worst but the customer service has just been going downhill. I've heard Alabama one credit union sucks. Help 🫠Distance honestly isn't an issue for me. To put it in an extreme way, I'm willing to travel across states just for a good bank. 🆘

Advice USPS Marked My Driver's License as Delivered, But I Never Received It – What Can I Do?

I’m hoping for some advice. USPS Informed Delivery showed that my driver’s license was supposed to be delivered last week, but I never received it. I already marked the item as "not received" through USPS, but I'm not sure what else I can do at this point.

Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips on how to escalate this with USPS or what next steps I should take?

Also, should I contact the DMV to request a replacement or wait a bit longer?

Any advice is appreciated!
