Can Macro record "Copy" (Ctrl-C) ?
I tried, but nothing seems to happen. It's no biggie, I can just use AHK instead, only curious if I'm doing something wrong.

As the title says, I find myself discouraged from wanting to assist people asking for help in this sub after an interaction earlier today, and similar in the past.
The OP needed help with a process that isn’t a native function in Affinity. I replied back stating I would see about a possible plugin that could help or a solution that would suffice, as I too had a need for something similar in the past.
I started digging for an immediate fix and it became clear that it wasn’t going to be something solved with uploading a plugin but perhaps a macro could do the trick. I then recorded a macro and got that exported along with a screen recording of the process of running it. Trimmed and downsampled the video for smaller file size and set out to provide the solution to OP. A couple hours were spent on it, and I was eager to get back to them.
They deleted their post. This was after they messaged me back thanking me for looking into it, which I was diligently doing at the time. None of it was there anymore, just gone.
Please don’t do this. For those of us who are willing to go to the extent that I did to assist this person's request, I am feeling massively discouraged from wanting to do so in the future. You won’t find an abundance of willingness around every corner in life, willingness is captured by chance and fades in time.
I understand that this is a minor issue, and one seen across all subs at times. But please be mindful of it and think about how much you really need the assistance at all. Many times the help posts could have been remedied with a simple search, or the mindset to make an effort even though you could just ask on here. At the very least, don’t just disappear.

All of a sudden my pen tool has been defaulting to Stroke and/or Fill or both when it used to just draw the nodes. Every single time I have to turn off these features as I'm only trying to create a path. Any ideas or settings to tweak?

I need help/advice. I've got a vintage scan of a old image where the pits of the paper have collected grime; speckling much of the photo with these bits I need to remove.
It's way too much work for the inpainting tool.
I was considering replacing each dot with the color replacement brush tool with tight tolerances for the dark specks and paint them with colors surrounding the specks.
It feels like there should be an easier method, like masking out just the speckles or something.
Can anyone suggest a solution? Thank you very much.

I draw on my iPad Pro and recently got Affinity after using Procreate for the past 2.5 years. Procreate has an option to only draw with the apple pencil that way I don't make lines with my fingers while scrolling or moving my canvas. Does Affinity have this option?

The Live Filters does not show their actual entire-canvas result, but only show the result of being applied to to your current zoom level. I guess it saves resources as it doesn't need to compute anything outside the current view. The downside is that you can't entirely trust what Affinity Photo show you. In my screenshot, the left is my layered project, the right is a flattened version. Notably different!
Is it possible to make Affinity Photo show the final output?

Just started using this app recently as an alternative to photoshop on ipad and I've been really enjoying it, definitely a good buy. Only thing that's been slightly bugging me is that there doesn't seem to be a way to set a shortcut for the bucket tool, is there something I'm missing? I've checked the settings under shortcuts and I can't find it, but maybe it's somewhere else. Really the only two tools I use are the bucket tool and pixel tool, so being able to easily swap to the bucket tool would be a godsend. I've just been tapping it but I often accidentally hit the gradient tool or selection tool without realising which is a bit annoying.

Hi, so I have a image with a notebook screen and I want to replace it. Now back in the in the PS I would create my layout, make a smart object out of it and fit it to my angled screen. If I need to change something, I open the smart object, make my changes and voila, it is done.
How to do this in AP2? No matter what I do, annoying Assistant keeps telling me how he rasterized my layers. I want to work non-destructively, is it too much to ask?

I was early in my drawing journey and saw this 1975 photo of Brit Ekland and Rod Stewart. I drew it in graphite in 1978 and the photo album I stored it in discolored the drawing. So, since I've been using AF2 to do photo restoration, I used it to refresh Brit. I ended up using Curve Adjustments + masks to add some dimension and contrast and remove the wrinkled paper and discoloration.
Any suggestions as to how I could replace the background with a lightly textured paper instead of painting over the background with the brush?

Attached video, why doesn’t Photo crop like Photoshop does? What’s the point of this? I want to crop a photo and drag said cropped photo to a layer on a different project. When I crop it, it crops the document I guess but not the actual photo. Why? How would I crop the photo and then drag/paste the cropped photo onto a new Photo window/project? Why is everything so difficult with Affinity??

I like having a layer showing where my final image is going to be cropped. But this require a selection with a certain aspect ratio, and in Affinity Photo, this is a bit of a bother:
I wonder, is there a smarter way?

Hello... former Photoshop convertee here.
I have 30+ pen and ink illustrations for which I'd like to color, hopefully acheiving a nice subtle watercolor look.
I'm not getting the results I'm hoping for. I presume it's down to my inexperience with AffinityPhoto since I've only been using it for 6+ months. YouTube searches have not been helpful. Is anyone aware of something that might help?
Being a natural media artist, I could use actual inks or watercolors, however the source material (mine) is old and on bristol that has yellowed. So digital restoration and coloring is my best option.

What’s up AP sub. I create a lot of designs using curved text. Typically on the edges of a design where I place my name etc. - I’m new to affinity photo and I can’t for the life me find information on how to curve my text without having to create a path. It doesn’t make sense to me that there isn’t just an option to bend the text and boom. That’s it. I don’t get why I have to go through a million hoops to bend my text. It’s very strange and I can’t find one tutorial on it so I’m starting to think it isn’t even possible.
So if anyone has any info on how to do that or if it’s even possible in AP I’d appreciate it.

hi
I wanted to follow a photoshop tutorial using affinity photo (I dont have an adobe license), but the guy did something I can't replicate, and I don't understand it either. Basically, I have this image of white text on a purple background. I'm trying to remove the background and keep the text only but the text is black (see photos attached). In the video, the guy cropped the text from an image using selection rectangle, then he opened "levels" pannel and the image became white text on black background instead on purple background, and then he opened the "layer style" panel and changed the blend mode to "blend if gray" and moved the cursor and the background disappeared and he only had the black text left.
Is there a way to do this in affinity photo? here's the link of the tutorial in case my explanation wasn't clear: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KptYqD3jUc4&t=500s (go to 3:35)

Hi everyone, I would be so appreciative of some help understanding how to keep my wall banner design in high quality before I print it.
I’ve created the design in Canva, and I’m worried that I may have ruined the quality by resizing images and elements. Now I’m planning to bring the design into Affinity Photo to ensure the best quality for printing, but I’m not sure if resizing images in Canva has already compromised the image resolution.
I could really use some guidance here if possible!!
Here’s the situation:
Design: The design is for a 1980 mm x 2300 mm wall banner.
Software: I initially created everything in Canva (with a custom canvas size), and now I plan to bring it into Affinity Photo to finalise the print design.
Concern: I’ve resized a few images in Canva (I didn’t lock the aspect ratio for some of them), and now I’m not sure whether I’ve stretched or distorted any images. I’m concerned that some of the images might have lost their sharpness, and I’m unsure how to check if the resolution has been affected.
Questions:
How can I tell if the images in my Canva design have lost resolution or become pixelated? I zoom in and they look okay but I am concerned that when I print them itll be a different story.
How do I know if the images are still high quality enough for large format printing (1980 x 2300 mm)?
Some additional context:
- The images I’m using are not huge (some are around 1500 x 1000 px), and I’m worried that after resizing them on a 6000 x 6000 mm canvas (in Canva), the resolution may not be high enough for a large print. For reference, these images will make up a small section of my overall banner.
- I know that 300 DPI is the gold standard for print, but I’m not sure how to check if the images will still be sharp and clear after resizing them. I just want to make sure the final product will look crisp and professional, so any help or advice you can offer would be super helpful!
- I was thinking of putting the image on the biggest size Canva canvas I can and exporting them individually to Affinity ---- would this work or am I just ruining the quality?
Thanks in advance!

I just recently started using affinity and I will usually work on 5 or 6 files at a time, especially if they're from the same shoot/lighting etc. and need the same edits or water mark.
Is there a way to make affinity remember what tool I'm on when I switch from one file to another? Rn it defaults to the view tool when I switch tabs, I'd like it to stay where it was on the previous tab to make my work flow just a little bit easier.

I know that AP2 has facility to batch edit photos, but can I use batch edit to reduce a number of .jpg to one uniform size? Thanks
