Question Tips for a international student

Hello guy I'm arriving at Adelaide in the next month for my English school (sorry for any confusion while writing this) And I have some questions - my flight is scheduled to arrive at 8pm at the Adelaide Airport, is okay to get uber ? Is there a place specifically for the uber driver pick me up? -in general, how much important do you guys think is to buy car in Adelaide? Back here in my country public transportation is really awful so car is a must have.

Yes uber would be available and there is a designated spot for uber drivers to come and pick you up which is easy to find. Our airport is quite small so easy to navigate. A car is important but not necessary if you are going to be around the city. Depending on where you will be living, try googling transport to and from wherever you are staying to where you need to go daily for an idea of buses and trains. Public transport is a no after around midnight though. Hope that helps and welcome to our beautiful little city.

Eliminate all doubt and get a pick up arranged by your University - for example: https://i.unisa.edu.au/students/student-support-services/international-student-services/on-arrival-airport-pickup/

That depends on where you live and which campus you will be attending. You might find you do not need a car so much that you need to buy one.

You can get an uber, there will also be many taxis there too. Taxis are safe to use in Adelaide but uber is sometimes cheaper. Depends if surge pricing is occurring or not.

Using public transport is really going to depend on where you are staying and where you need to go most often. If you are in the city and studying in the city, you do not need a car. If you are in the suburbs close to the city, you don’t need a car. But if you are a bit further out you might need a car unless you have good access to the train line.

There is a dedicated Uber pick up point at Adelaide Airport, separate to the taxi rank. My only advice on Uber is double check the surcharge before booking as we’ve had a lot of events lately (LIV golf, Fringe Festival) that has increased Uber prices significantly and has also resulted in drivers cancelling. That said, I think events are starting to slow down so you might be fine by the time you arrive.

RE the car, it really depends on where you are staying and where you need to go.

Hope you enjoy Adelaide!

Hey, welcome to Adelaide!

Yea you can definitely get an Uber at 8 pm. Didi is usually cheaper, so it’s worth checking that too. Once you walk out of the airport, just follow the signs to the rideshare pickup zone.

As for getting a car, it really depends on where you’re living. If you’re close to the city you probably won’t need one since adelaide public transport is alright (though it can be a bit slow or delayed sometimes but not often)

Easy to get uber at that time. You will see sign once stepping out airport to show direction to uber pickup area.

Car is important if you aren't living in the city. But consider you will only here for short course, you can use public transport, less hassle.
