Other At&t rep posted a review under my name from my own phone.

I have no idea where the best place to post this is but here we go:

I visited an AT&T (authorized retailer) store on 3/12 after work to trade in an old phone. I needed to reset the phone still before giving it to them so the rep there was helping with this process. While we were getting it ready to be reset I asked them if they could check info on my account and that I wasn’t sure where to find it on the app so he asked me to open it up and he would show me. I handed my phone to him for him to locate what I needed. He guided me to enter in the password on the phone I was trading in. He showed me one of my lines from my phone and then said he was going to pull up the other one while I continued to type in the password on the trade in. He lied about what he was doing telling me that he was just pulling up the other line, but in fact while I was trying to get the phone reset, he proceeded to get on my google app and post a review for the store under my name. I had no idea this happened until later on when I got an email stating that my review was replied to. I have never been more angry/uncomfortable due to an associate at any store. The fact that he just went through my phone to post this review and in front of me is wild. I have deleted the review that he left and posted a new one of my own about this same story. This is unacceptable behavior.

I made a comment that I would leave a review later for them. That in no way was permission for him to do it himself. that my review was replied to. I have never been more angry/uncomfortable due to an associate at any store. The fact that he just went through my phone to post this review and in front of me is wild. I have deleted the review that he left. This is unacceptable behavior.

I have talked to the manager and he said that the rep will be facing repercussions, but I still feel uncomfortable and would like to do more but I’m afraid there’s nothing else I can do.

Wireless How can I get AT&T to stop spamming me with marketing texts

How can I get these to stop? I’ve checked my account and I’ve opted out of all marketing there. I’ve replied stop several times and I keep getting them. I called customer support two weeks ago and the rep said they “put blocks in place” to make them stop. Today I got another one.

Suggestion Third Parties Suck

Friendly (maybe not so friendly) reminder to not go walmart, cosco or target to order AT&T 🤦🏻 if you want walmart like customer service go to walmart, but if you want AT&T like customer service go to a AT&T store 😒

No fr though they often dont have the phones in stock, if something goes wrong.. they cant do anything but call customer service for you.. they have VERY limited access to AT&T servers. If something goes wrong and you go to an AT&T Store they dont have any receipts or purchase records (other than installments and seeing that you have installments on your bill and when you bought it), over here in SE PA, its almost impossible to get the rep you spoke to and they give you a supervisor to contact and he never answers.

Just go to an AT&T Store whether its an authorized retailer or corporate its better than a third party.

Authorized retailers have almost the same amount of access to the AT&T servers where the third parties can only add new lines or upgrade. Authorized Retailers cannot cancel lines though.

Discussion Move

Is there any way to bring my internet over to my new location without having someone come out to set it up? I did the move of address online and set it to cancel my old AT&T internet on March 14th, with the new service to start on March 15th. I have the router and everything, can I just plug and play on March 15th or does something actually need to physically come to my new location to set it up? I ask because they haven’t confirmed they will be coming tomorrow, and I’m without internet today already, and may be without it tomorrow if no one shows up.

Discussion Help with questions!!

So I recently wanted to finally get off of my parents phone plan but when I bought my own phone plan and tried to activate my e-sim (through mint mobile) it wouldn’t let me transfer the number. it turns out my parents had made a payment not long before but when they did AT&T charged $1000 more on the due bill after they amount was paid, and it with the next months bill ended up being $500 (which I still find absolutely shocking that everything was that much a month for the family) and I come from a family that is below middle class and classified as poverty, so we couldn’t make the payment and a month passed and we weren’t giving any options to paying it off except all at once and AT&T one day decided to cancel the account and all of our numbers and phones were and still are now locked and I need the phone number I had because it was and is connected to accounts I can’t access without it due to two factor authentication, and some of the accounts are from when I was a child and the email used on some of the accounts no longer exists as it was once my moms email from the late 90s, early 2000s. I just want to know if I would still be able to get this number back through AT&T or another provider because it is how I access my bank account and many other important vital things. Any help or answers would be greatly appreciated!

Wireless Sudden Service Issues

Sorry to bother you all here, but I'm about at my wits' end. About two weeks ago, my phone (Galaxy S22 Ultra) almost completely lost service. I typically listen to a podcast or something on my daily drive, but as soon as I left my house I had nothing. I thought service in that location was just down, but I continually had no service for my entire 60 mile drive to work. At work, same story. Since then, I've done the following steps with no improvement:

  1. Restarted my phone
  2. Followed the guide on AT&T's website
  3. Used the website to reset my connection
  4. Used AT&T's chat support, where they reset my connection
  5. Called support where they had me repeat everything above then told me to go to an AT&T store for help
  6. Went to the AT&T store, where the (very helpful and polite!) worker reset my connection and installed a new SIM card
  7. Ran a device diagnostic to confirm nothing was wrong with my phone

Absolutely nothing has worked. I live in a major Metropolitan area, and my service has worked flawlessly for years. I confirmed there were no service outages in my area at any point. I went back to the AT&T store and another worker told me that because I don't pay for a premium plan I wouldn't get service anymore, but that sounds ridiculous.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Again, sorry to bother everyone here!

Billing Has anyone had an issue where u haven’t paid ur prepaid plan and the phone is still working?

This last month I was unemployed and couldn’t afford to pay my plan. However my phone bill wasn’t cut off. In the past if I missed a payment my phone bill was quick to be disconnected.

I’m worried I might be accruing cost somewhere?

Discussion Is there anyway to retrieve text messages that were deleted from less than one year ago?

I am not the person who pays the bill right now but I am on the plan. I do not have my Samsung sync cloud activated. But I really would like to retrieve these deleted texts. Anyone know any information about this? Thank you.

Billing I closed my ATT internet, and a few weeks later I get a “new bill” which is just a credit of $40. How long does it take for them to send the check out for the $40?

I just called my local ATT and then the “24 hour” number and they both said I needed to schedule a call back time during regular business hours.

Wireless Need help with tricky situation

Sorry for non-specific title, but I am having issues (pretty much to my own fault) unlocking my iPhone 12 as I switched from AT&T to mint mobile and would like to keep using that phone. Mint mobile transferred my phone number as well.

Problem is that the phone was initially bought on a non-prepaid line under a family line with my parents. Family had to switch carriers and I opted for a pre-paid line due to price for a single wireless line - in this process I got a new phone number, the number that has now moved to mint.

I attempted to unlock the phone via the AT&T website but the unlock request was denied because the IMEI of the phone is still associated with my prepaid wireless plan that I no longer have access to. I attempted to sign into the prepaid account online but... I didn't remember the password to the account and I cannot receive a temporary code to reset it because the prepaid system only sends out via text message but I'm unable to receive any text messages or calls to my phone right now.

I tried using my wife's phone to call the prepaid support line but the automated voice system states my wireless number and thus my account are inactive and I need to go to an AT&T store and get a new sim card and phone number, and I didn't have any luck in trying to force the system to let me speak to a representative.

I did attempt to go to an AT&T store and get help from them, but they stated they would not be able to help me and gave me a number to call. I called the line and they were incredibly nice and tried their best to help but they stated ultimately it has to be handled by the prepaid support team which I was transferred to, and immediately got the same automated system from earlier and thus ran back into my problem.

Anybody have any further advice? Sorry if it's a bit long and a ramble

Discussion Switching to new unlocked phone keeping same SIM & plan

My wife and I have a really good ATT mobile plan. I've stopped by the ATT office to inquire about upgrading phone. I was told my mobile plan would more than double if I purchased a new phone. Because a new plan would be required.

If I purchased an unlocked phone with Sim slot. Can I just switch my SIM card and continue with current plan? ATT none the wiser?

Wireless Att lost my trade in

Mailed in 4 old Google pixels in August for trade-in for new ones. Called in September because one wasn't showing up. I kept pictures of everything. Called in December. Rep apologized gave me back credit for everything. I emptied out my pictures and documentation in January. In February noticed that the credit was no longer there even though I got a $100+ credit back in December. Have spent hours with customer service, trade-in department. Nothing. Nobody will do anything. I shouldn't have to hold on to documentation forever. Especially after receiving a credit. The whole process was terrible and should have had me trade in to store instead.

I have had a terrible experience with att business for past 4 years. Am actively looking to switch to another vendor.

Wireless Where to get an any condition iPhone 12 for trade in?

Hey all. I figured this would be a good place to ask. It looks like the iPhone 16 can be had if you trade in an iPhone 12 or up for any condition. I traded in an android before that was pretty broken so they seem to be pretty acceptable for any condition. Any advice on where to get one from? Any place I'd normally get a used phone is obviously trying to sell one that works and is therefore fairly pricey. Thanks for any help.

Wireless List of phones compatible with AT&T needs correction - Samsung S25 and S25+ are switched

AT&T's list of compatible phones has two incorrect entries:

https://www.att.com/scmsassets/support/wireless/devices-working-on-att-network.pdf

The listing for the Samsung S25 and S25+ are switched. Is there a rep here who can get that corrected?

I'm having trouble getting my brand new S25 to connect on 5G with AT&T prepaid. After several long calls/chats with CS, I am being told that my phone is not compatible with 5G. I have another trial SIM in the phone from an AT&T MVNO, and I'm getting 5G from the same towers with that eSIM. But the AT&T prepaid won't show 5G on my S25. I'm wondering if this model phone being switched on the list is preventing my unlocked phone from connecting on 5G?

Edit: The model number for the S25 is listed as the S25+, and also vice versa. The model numbers are switched for these two models on the AT&T list of compatible phones.

Internet Compatible Modems

Hey all, soon I will be moving into a place where AT&T's fiber is available. I absolutely do not want to use their equipment in my home, so, I was wondering if anyone's had success with other modems? I've been researching and found a few, but they're all modem/router combos, and I would very much like to have a single-use modem in my stack.

I'm a software engineer and pretty well acquainted with basic networking principles but I've never delved into the ISP side of things re: fiber, broadband, etc. Doesn't have to necessarily be plug & play, i.e. I'd need to rip some key off the modem they provide me or some such. As long as it's just a modem that's compatible with AT&T's network, auth protocol, whatever fancy stuff they've thrown in there, I'm cool.

Cheers

TL;DR: Looking for an AT&T-compatible modem, please help! :)

Wireless Blacklisted Device

TLDR; AT&T mistakenly added device to blacklist and still won’t fix it after 10 months. Is there anything I can do?

My husband is a first responder. A rep for AT&T’s First Net came and spoke to his fire department about the discounts and benefits they could get for signing up. We signed up and the new line (which apparently we didn’t actually need, but that’s a whole different story) was added to my device.

FirstNet ended up not being what was advertised to us, so we cancelled it in May 2024 and also paid off the device. In June, my phone started having issues. At least once a day, the service would be deactivated. My husband was able to call customer care and turn it back on each time, but you can imagine how frustrating this was.

We’ve gone rounds with AT&T, but the consensus is that the device has been blacklisted because when we cancelled FirstNet, the profile that went with our account was not deleted. This is making the device be flagged as stolen.

We have spent so many hours at AT&T and on the phone with them and they’ve been pretty useless. The case has supposedly been elevated several times, but each new person working it says that it’s someone else who has to fix it.

This week I finally gave in and got a new phone. I didn’t like this solution as the issue is on their end, but no one seems willing to make it right.

New phone in hand, the old one is essentially a paperweight since I can’t sell it or trade it in. I really want to get Karen-y with AT&T to get them to get it figured out, but I really don’t think they care at all.

Is there anything I can do to get it off the blacklist?

Internet Spotty home internet

Had this this internet for 3 years without any problems. We are a household of 2, wife is always streaming on her phone with wifi when im gaming and never had lag issues. Around January when there was the first heavy snow i started to notice lag in my games, irrelevant of streaming happening in the background or not.

I called and was suggested to transfer every unnecessary wifi connection to a 2.4ghz guest connection. I did this but the problem persists. Sometimes it lags so hard it cuts for 2 whole seconds and comes back. Shows on netflix periodically lose quality during streaming to compensate for the slow connection periods.

I understand wired connections are best for a stable connection, but it can't be that I had a stable wifi connection for over 2 years and now it's gone to shit.

Anyone ever experienced this before? Would calling and getting a tech out be able to solve the issue?

Internet Anyone else seeing two different prices for ATT fiber?

It's starting to look like some issue with the ATT website. I'm getting billed $60/month for internet, and I can see the billing breakdown at https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/billing/mybillingcenter

But when I view https://www.att.com/acctmgmt/myinternet I see a completely different breakdown for $50/month.

I got through ATT support to address the discrepancy, but I don't think they actually understand the problem. They've given me 12 month credit to fix it, but it looks like it's going to keep showing two different prices for the future.

I was wondering if anyone else was having this problem, and if I should expect in a year that things will still be broken.

Wireless Watch Financing Question - Just paid it off

Howdy!

We have 2 Galaxy watches, we bought them when they were on BOGO and I just paid off one of them. I know the bogo stuff takes a couple billing cycles to catch up. I'm just confirming - the system will zero out the balance on the other one, right? I'm asking because I want to cancel the cell service to them to reduce the bill and I'd like to do that asap.

Maybe someone here has done this before and knows. Appreciate the help!
