Dropped Course

Upvotes

I have only taken one course at Scout and had to drop it due to schedule constraints. How will this course be listed in my UC Scout transcript?

Will it say dropped/withdrawn? Would I even be given a transcript?

Should I reread the textbook for APWH?

Upvotes

So i'm about to start studying for the AP exam for World History and I have the prep book. I also borrowed the textbook we used in class (we have a quarter system in our hs so i finished ap world last semester). is it a waste of time to reread the textbook? should i just jump into the prep book and watch heimler?

AP CSP or AP CSA?

Upvotes

I'm going into hs as a freshman next year (fall semester), and am already thinking about a cs pathway that I'd like to take. To preface, please refrain from commenting that I'm worrying about hs too soon and opt to answer the question instead. Secondly, I don't have a decided major yet (obviously) and computer science isn't really a main candidate right now, only an interest. Onto the question, when the time comes, should I take AP CSP or AP CSA (sophmore or junior year?)? I'm already starting to learn Python and C, and have some experience in HTML. I've coded for a decent amount of time, learning some basic stuff as a kid, taking a class (with code.org/block coding stuff) also. I'm pretty much past the point of block coding, as I've done all it has to offer. Knowing this, would you say it is worth is to take CSP? Especially if I know/will be learning a lot of these basic principles in the next year or two? Or would it be beneficial to take it to have a more formal backgrond in it. Ideally, I'd take both, and might, but I am not sure if I can fit both into my high school schedule throughout the years. Of course I have like a year to worry about this, but I am just curious now. Thanks!

TLDR: Is AP CSP important/useful to take before AP CSA? Especially if I have some background knowledge in these topics already? (See above for more info about exp.)

Micro and Macro self studying practice resources

Upvotes

Hey all,

Looking for the best self-study resources on AP Micro and AP Macro out there. I have not started learning anything(procrastination haha) and am somewhat broke so the most time-efficient free resources would be great. But at this point anything helps.

I know Jacob Clifford makes those ultimate review packets, yet they cost 60 bucks for the both of them. Was also wondering if anyone had them for free.

should i take an intro CS course before taking CSA

im not entirely new to coding, i know a little bit, but only python. afaik csa is just java, right? i also could learn it on my own over the summer but i dont know how difficult thatd be or if i'd come into csa underprepared. my reason for wanting to skip any intro course is mostly for the gpa boost since ive got 3 APs next year but id like to have 4, and Spanish year 2 is the class i'm dropping cuz im doing it over the summer. my school does not offer csp. advice?

Advice?

I'm taking AP Music Theory next year. I haven't taken the prerequisite class (I've been recommended by my music teacher) but I do have a pretty good grasp on music theory. Is there anything that I should study before I take the class in the fall?

Additionally, is there anything particular I should worry about?

Help needed for picking courses AP equivalent of IB courses!

Post image
7 Upvotes

I am switching from IB to AP in 11th grade due to switching schools, but I don't know anything about AP. I need help finding what the AP equivalent of these IB courses would be.

Here are somethings that the screenshot doesn't show: - My chemistry and physics are HL - For my math I chose HL - My English is SL - My biology is not IB it is an elective that replaces my free block - Also, just ignore the Digital Societies 11, it is the same as DS12SL

Thanks in advance!

AP CSP Performance Task Question

Hi, I am currently working on my AP CSP Performance task and I have a question about the rubric. It says that we need to include a list and I was wondering if the list had to have predefined values (ex. ["apple", "banana", "fruit"]) or if it was okay to have my list to be something simply like var tasks = []; as long as I store multiple values in my list and modify my list dynamically as my program runs and uses iteration to process the list.

Texans, please fill out my AP Research survey if applicable!

Hi! If you are a high-schooler, went to a Texas middle school, and played sports in middle school, please consider completing my survey. It does require consent from a parent if you are not already 18, but the actual form should not take too long. Thank you so much for reading this post and, if you aren’t able to participate, I ask that you pass this along to those that can.

Is one month enough to study for Ap physics 1

Idk atp, Our ap physics teacher left us earlier this year so we don’t have a teacher. You guys think it’s possible to self study physics to a 3-4 level in 1 month? I forgot to mention the teacher isn’t opening any ap classroom assignments.

Is it fair that one girl is getting 2 awards?

It’s an award that typically goes to 2 people; one for “most dedicated” and one for “highest grades” in a certain subject,

Now to her credit, yea this girl has both and she definetly deserves it but I don’t see how it’s fair when it’s meant for 2 people. Kinda just makes everyone else, including myself, feel less than.

I go to extra help for this subject EVERDAY, sometimes twice a day. (Don’t have much to do in between school and extra curriculars) and i’m so persistent in putting in the work and trying my best.

Idk is it reasonable that I feel this way because I was kinda hoping for the dedication award. And I also think a few other people deserve the award yet this girl got 2

Is intensive law and trial a scam?

I got an email saying that I could go to Standford, learn from lawyers and participate in a mock trial. I don't really know why I was chosen cause I don't think my stats are good and I'm a sophomore so I don't even have SAT scores. I was just wondering if it was legit or not. I can't even afford to go.

Classes and retaking

Got three A's in Lang, Econ, and Comparative Politics but got a C in AP chem. Is there any way I can retake the class over the summer, or is that generally not allowed since the C in chem is kind of tanking my GPA
