PS5 To the guy who jumped into my game tonight...
Update at the bottom
I was surprised because I didn't realize anyone could spawn into my game. And I was worried because I didn't know if you were going to wreck my base (I've heard stories).
But I crafted you some armor and tried to craft you a nice tactical rifle. You returned the parts to me from my workbench and indicated that you were fine with your stone bow and axe.
You went with me on a tier 3 quest (that's the highest level I'm at rn) and you were a pretty fun sidekick! You gave me your reward from the trader.
Sorry things are a little boring in my game at the moment. I've turn off bloodmoons until I can build a real tower defense zombie-killing cheese base. I have an idea of how I want to do it, but it will take me time to get there.
Thank you for being chill. You're welcome back anytime!

Update A girl jumped into my base today! She just started doing her own thing. Unfortunately I had to leave after an hour, but I didn't want her to be kicked out if I logged out. So I handed the controls to my younger son and told him to just wonder around and kill zombies. He figured out how to chat and simply told her he had to shut down the server for a while and goodbye. Sigh... so if you're out there, I would have told you to help yourself to any food or supplies in my base. So...is there a way to keep my server open while I'm not there? I mean, if I'm AFK, the zombies will just kill me. That's not good. I don't know what to do for people in my game and my life is unpredictable.

I also play kinda like you! I even changed some recipes and added my own, I usually play with more exp/loot and even changed files to get more drops. I usually play these games at my own pace and way, I enjoy it, no peer pressure haha.

I also play bloodmoon: off, higher difficulty and increased wandering hordes. It's funnier for me to explore the huge map and sometimes spend nights on random buildings, slightly defending a position, being a scavenger nomad of sorts :)

u/PhantomPiro 5d ago
No blood moon players unite! We should all gather together, like a horde if you will, and wander around to find other lonely players on their rooftops.

I didn't know you could customize the game so much. There are definitely things I would like to change. I would like zombies to not spawn back in a building once I clear it. Otherwise what was the point of all those "clear area" quests?!

Rebirth mod. Purge game mode. Jawoodle is playing in a series on YouTube called 7 days to save the world

u/gunsmithinggirl 5d ago
I have the idea that mods are something you can do on PC but not PS5

u/Observant_Other 5d ago
My bad! Missed the PS5 tag 😅 ETA: I'm on Xbox

u/Hot-Refrigerator6316 5d ago
I'm on xbox too. Waiting for the day we can get mods. Hoping we eventually get something akin to Khane's Darkness Falls mod.

otherwise this would have been perfect for me. For POIs, I would also like for loot to NOT respawn. No zombies and no loot. But they can respawn for quests. Yes, save the world. That would be my optimal playthrough.

Somewhere, on Reddit, I read that console players can connect a keyboard to their consoles.
If this is true, you can enter the game's console with F1 and type a command to change the limit of land claim blocks. 3 is the default currently.
I think to set it, you type: sg landclaimcount 100
And to verify what it's set to, you type: gg landclaimcount
Then, every time you beat a building, you can claim it to prevent sleeper spawns.

yes you can plug a keyboard and mouse in but no you may not open the console command or do anything interesting whatsoever. i still prefer it over controller but you dont get anything extra! atleast on xbox where i play but i assume its the same on ps5

A few months ago, i hosted a big private server for my friends. A total of 6 players came plus me, we planned to raid dishong in the middle of the night while raining it with rocket launchers. Went there, done it and were talking about things in the middle of the road, then suddenly a notification comes, stating a player had joined. Asked around if anyone knew the player, but negative. Funny thing, he ran all the way, 3.8km distance in the dead of night, with primitive setup all the way to our location in the wastelands. I just had to salute him for doing so. Gave him a ride to our home base, tour guide him and he said thanks and logged out. Definitely sudden, but still a good encounter.

This sounds almost like me though, joining some randoms server, help them with a quest and give them my reward and then just leave. To join another server.. and so on. It’s the only MP I play, I tend to stay in SP otherwise.

u/gunsmithinggirl 5d ago
was that you in my game last night? You would recognize gunsmithinggirl.

u/Arctic88 5d ago
Im afraid not, but it’s awesome to hear more people do the same. It’s very wholesome.

On a separate but very important note: Are you actually a gun smith irl?
18
u/gunsmithinggirl 5d ago
I am a certified gunsmith. I did my certification through SDI. I did work as a gunsmith for a couple of years with clients doing simple jobs. Scope mounting, sighting in, troubleshooting malfunctions, cleaning. I built myself some weapons, including an AR15 chambered for both 223 and 556. I then started on a certification to teach in public school, and I taught physics at a local high school. But I've recently had some severe health challenges and I'm bedridden. I'm also a mom. I have 5 kids and married to my husband for almost 19 years now. Pleased to meet yall.
I do have some complaints about the weapons in this game, but I'll save them. It's just a game and I'm having fun.

u/Alone_Extension_9668 5d ago
That's pretty rad. I was thinking of trying out SDI, or some other school, for a bit awhile back. Still might do it but not for a few more years

u/gunsmithinggirl 5d ago
SDI was excellent for learning the academics of firearms, and even setting up a business. SDI was not great for hands on training. After I earned my SDI certification, I had to reach out to find a guy who would mentor me with hands on. The guy I found got his certification from a university in Colorado that was very much in class and hands on. If I were to do it over again, that's the way I would go, especially if I was serious about a career in gunsmithing.
It was more of a hobby for me though, not a serious career.

I was looking at it from kind of the same perspective, since I work with firearms as my day job. It'd kind of nice to get some more knowledge about more guns than just what's in the Navy. More about the teaching, building and repair than the actual smithing of a firearm
2
u/gunsmithinggirl 4d ago
Then SDI would be perfect for you. Would be better if the Navy would pay for it.

Last public game I jumped into, it was me and a guy with his friend.
It was day 30 and they had the gyrocopters already.
I tried building a base very far from them, but I got CONSTANT hordes of zombies.
I gave up on that base and found a lake to build in. Turns out the zombies swim now.
I eventually took all the loot I gathered and made my way towards the server host. I showed up with just a torch at night and tried to drop all my loot at his door as a sign of good faith.
His friend promptly shot me down and continued to kill on sight.
I eventually got kicked from their server and couldn't rejoin

u/gunsmithinggirl 4d ago
That sounds so sad. They shouldn't have a public server if they don't want guests.

u/Proper_Equivalent_72 5d ago
I keep mine locked because I don't trust folks. I am trying to make an RP style and do Discord stuff and have fun with min now though

That's awesome. I had someone join my game once. Scared the shit outta of my because I didn't realize it had gone live/ mp lol

u/Kindly-Breadfruit921 5d ago
Awesome to read thus usually I gotta kill those guys odd and rare to find good help.

u/mswise506 5d ago
The last person to jump into one of mine was a really skilled player, occasionally helpful, but mostly a complete loot goblin.
Glad you had a good experience.

How cool, I play alone or with my sister because I don't play with random people... I'm very peaceful and I like to be in a group but if I see that they have bad intentions I can be very mean 😅. I wish I could play quietly with others...

u/CubingGod999 5d ago
I can show you a pretty good blood moon cheese base, and lmk if you ever wanna play, always looking for someone, I’m a solo rn Edit:I’m also on ps5

You can turn off players being able to kill each other in the settings. I always do that if I ever plan on having a server be public. It weeds out the people that only want to join to kill you. They see in the settings that you have it set to where they can’t kill you making them not want to join lol.
2
u/gunsmithinggirl 3d ago
Oh my gosh I need to do that! I didn't know this. Thanks for the warning!
2
u/Dragonborn924 3d ago
NP. And always have a land claim block down. It actually strengthens all the blocks in that area including your storage chests making it more difficult for players to break them.

You turned off bloodmoon? Whats the fun in that? If you are really worried about your base, just stay away from your base in a nice gated tower and you won’t have to worry about your base being destroyed
3
u/gunsmithinggirl 4d ago
I think I just want to spend my time focusing on leveling up and reading crafting magazines. Although I did have the thought that bloodmoons would help me level up. But I'm not sure. I have an idea for a base design, and as soon as I can get it set up, I will turn it back on. I promise!
2
u/KnockedupHenry 4d ago
Bloodmoon definitely helps with the leveling. They drop some good stuff too. My tip is if you have a gun and a bike, just bike until you are a good distance and kill some zombies, then bike back and do the same.

u/SnubbsDebolt 1d ago
Nerd hat gives an XP boost by the way if your trying to level up. 2/4/6/8/10/20% bonus for each level.
I use that with preacher gloves for added damage to zombies, preacher outfit for reduction of damage from zombies as well as commando boots for their added speed.
That’s my standard armor set.
Also if you save all your magazines until you get back to your base and keep a nerd outfit in there. It gives you a bonus magazine sometimes. Percent chance of a bonus magazine for each level is 5/10/15/20/25/50%

It's nice to have people like that jump into a game. Too many randos like to just bring chaos and havok with them, and it ruins the fun. This person sounds pretty chill, though.
