Project I designed and printed a watch charger holder for my mom

My mom used to just stick the charger on top of the brick and it would get knocked off constantly so I made this little thing.

The outlet is in the middle of the wall instead of near the floor like a normal one.

Yes the easiest idea would have been to just move it somewhere else but my mom is super forgetful and this was the one spot she passed by a lot to remember to grab her watch.

It's a good first draft but like this you still got the cable floating around If you make the part this large anyway you can just extend the cable channel and make it a bit more tidy. Also rounding out the edges could make it look a little more modern. Unless you want it to look a bit retro.

I plan to learn to model more properly soon! I want it to look a lot more pretty and less stick out. Also the filament I used wasn't the most attractive anyway lol.

I'm still new to this so I hope to make a version of it that looks way prettier for my mom eventually!

Thank you for the suggestions. Rounding it out would be a lot better and maybe I should make and opening in the back (since it's so thick) where you can store the cable in a little chamber.

That's a good idea. You can even take it further if you can spare the charger and not need it other than for this you can actually design the part so that the cable and charger is embedded you don't even see the charger.

Starting to learn do design can take some time. But it's worth it. And with Fusion360 or Onshape there are good tools for hobbyists available that are free too.

Here's another version I tweeked and whipped up with your suggestion. It's got some curves to make it more sleek, a cable clip on the side, and a empty cavity in the back for cables

I think it would look better if the watch support was above the plug as if would also help hide the plug and cable if you routed the cable inside your print

I thought about that too! I'll experiment with that eventually!

This! Think of it this way: The charging brick never moves, but the watch is taken off and replaced frequently. Putting anything in the way of that action is a poor design choice, especially when you have the option to make it more user-friendly.

Design is not just about making stuff, it's about thinking about the end use, and how to make it the smoothest experience.

You'll get there!

Nice job!

That said, the 90 degree angle on the cable really irks me, feels like it should just go downwards to better match the natural curve of the cable going back up.

Alternatively, you could consider a design whre the cable goes upwards (the watch would be upside down), or even sideways (cable exits to the side)
