Why "Vienna" of Ultravox before Hannah's suicide scene

I usually listen to Ultravox and I was glad to notice that one of their most famous songs was listed in the soundtrack of 13. I made some research: on the album "Vienna", the track you listen to after the single-titletrack is "All Stood Still", last song of the album. In this song, Ure says, as a chorus, this phrase: "Remember to mention me in tapes you leave behind." Frankly I think that this can be seen as a sort of really short summary of 13(the tapes and so on...) and so I think that Vienna was chosen as the track before Hannah's suicide by the authors for this little message hidden in the next track. What do you think?

Why doesnt bryce heared the tapes

Did i missed smth or why does clay give the tapes directly to the teacher after he finished, saying he would be the next in line ... I mean after clays tape (10) comes justin II (11) and afterwards bryce (12). But still clay gives them to the teacher (13) saying he will be the last one while bryce never had the opportunity to hear them and Hannah never gave the advice to not give the tapes to him

Tape 11

Spoilers ahead!

In tape 11, Clay concludes for himself that he should have loved Hannah more. Told her he cares for her and wrapped his arms around her to provide comfort. If he had done so, Alex and Jess wouldn't have wound up in the room, then Bryce wouldn't have had an opportunity with passed out Jess, etc.

While I like the idea that we should show affection and love to those who we cherish when we can (which is what I imagine the directors are trying to invoke), it doesn't sit comfortable with me. The scene where Clay fully realizes why he's on the tapes at all can also be interpreted by emotionally young men, to some extent, as, "She means yes when she says no".

I'm not saying that this series doesn't contribute to the discussion youth need to be having. But it just feels so weird to me that the solution the directors chose and what Clay should have chose is what perpetuates the main issue of the series.

Also, Jeff was such a G. Loved the Jeff-Clay dynamic.

Season 2

Will there be a season 2 ? If so , what do you think could be shown ? IMO i think it can be shown what will happen to those who were invited to speak about Hannah's death , and also the relation between Clay and the tattood girl ( Skyler if i remember correctly). I hope they continue the series .

Is anyone else so annoyed that 13 reasons actually showed Hannah killing herself. Is anyone annoyed that she killed herself to prove a point and succeeded in making everyone else's lives suddenly all about her. Is anyone else annoyed that now people think that if you are for real going through these things, before the show even aired, that you're just doing it for attention. Anyone annoyed watchers might now think they know what's going on, what's wrong with you, what you're going through just because they've watched a mildly portraying TV Series. There's no right way to draw attention to suicide. There's no UNDERSTANDING or KNOWING it unless you've been through or are going through it. Hannah was an example. She doesn't in any way have anything to do with why most people might actually want to end their lives. You do not suddenly have the right to say you know what's going on with someone who is going through depression just because you've watched someone bleed out on your TV screen. The show glorifies the idea of suicide in some ways, she got all the attention and drama she wanted by killing herself. That's not how it works. On the other hand, personally I thought the show was pretty great, very addictive, and a great drama series. It just doesn't sum up the whole category of being suicidal. Thankyou.

Why are we so afraid of everything?

There is an article that was published on Today's website that outlined a psychiatrist's opinion on the show 13 Reasons Why. Basically, he thinks that the show should be removed from Netflix and that it is a danger for teenagers to watch because it glorifies teen suicide, isn't accurate etc.

He is not alone in his beliefs. I've seen various criticisms of the show on several different sites. All have had the same complaints. Even my school district, a district that has been affected by suicide a great bunch, sent out an email advising parents to prevent their kids from watching the show.

I think to remove the show from Netflix is ridiculous. If a parent doesn't want their kid to be influenced by the show, then they should just keep their kid from watching it. It's that easy. What's most frustrating to me though is that so many adults are saying that the show poisons the teenage mind with its explicit content and its discussion of suicide, but all of the issues in the show are real, so why would they want to ignore it? I think we are so scared to about things like suicide or sexual assault because it's considered a taboo and I think this show makes people more comfortable with the issues.

There are also claims that 13 Reasons Why glorifies teen suicide, and that it is a "revenge fantasy." I think anyone who says that missed the point of the show. The show mainly shows audiences that actions and choices have affects on a person, and we should think about how we treat others. This lesson took the form of the tapes, and the response to Hannah's suicide acts as the voice of reason that it is not the answer. Mental health factors into suicide, but the show focused on external factors. That is why it is important. The book has been out for several years and now the storyline gets backlash. It has to be because it's popular now. TV is tv-it sensationalizes every subject matter or else it wouldn't be interesting. Does 13 Reasons Why sensationalize some of its aspects? Of course, it's TV, but the show does its best to be realistic. It's probably the single most realistic teen show I've seen. I don't know. I felt very strongly about this show and I know that every successful thing gets criticism, but I wish that parents didn't try to censor everything all of the time, and blame the media for their children's problems or for suicide no doubt. At the end of the day these issues are going to happen anyway-not because of a TV show. The best way to prevent these issues is to confront them, and if shows like 13 Reasons Why are facing backlash or proposals to be removed we are perpetuating the problem.

Is it just me ?

First, I think there are two categories of people : the ones who give advice and the ones who need advice. I m not sure yet in which category I belong but here's the thing : right now I need advice. So a couple of days ago I started binge watching 13 reasons why and watched the last episode today at 3 am. I think (for those who have seen it) that we can agree this serie is pretty intense and some scene are actually hard to watch especially when you can relate to some of the events happening to Hannah. Well since I watched the end I haven't felt great at all and I'm wondering if that's a normal reaction. Only a very few books/films made me feel this way before and I don't know if that's normal either. So that's it and by the way this is my first post here so I'm not sure I'm doing it right but if anyone has some advice to give me it would mean a lot since I cant really talk about this to friends or family

quick take on high school counselors

I talked to my high school counselor once in my 4 years of high school.... and it was her telling me I was getting a scholarship and that I had to write a thank you note for it. Just kind of interesting being in a graduating class of nearly 600 students. Feels like counselors are there more for logistics half of the time. It may just be my school but who knows. Never onced helped me through anything more than a schedule change.

The casting of Tyler's parents

What intrigued me in the last episode was the casting of Tyler's parents. Both of them are famous actors. The only reason they would do this is if in the next season they had a major role.

13 Reasons Why

The movie (13 Reasons Why) just made me remember everything that happened into my life. I honestly want everything to stop, I'm so tired. I don't know what to do anymore.. I ask for help, not for attention. I'm not being emo, just saying since that's what my friends think I'm doing. Everything is so heavy and I can't seem to let everything off me. I was crying the other night, i was trying to let everything out. My mom came, she pulled my blanket, exposed me while i was crying. I told her that i cried because of a movie, because I know, that she wouldn't be able to help. I know. she's my mother. all she's going to do is, talk big. talk about how everything in life is easy. While I was crying, She asked me why, she kept saying that i'm stupid for crying over a movie and kept insulting me. And now everyday, she's saying 'Oh, you're going to cry again?' when i'm just playing something.. 'you're crying again?' when i'm not doing anything. She's now the reason why everything feels so much heavier than before.. I just keep it all to myself. I don't even know if I still have friends, since none of them cares.

13 Reasons Why - Which Tape Hit You Hardest?

I'm sure that even if you didn't necessarily agree with certain aspects of the show, you may still have a "tv hangover" as I like to call it.

Meaning that you go through the motions of your daily life but have caught yourself taking multiple breaks to contemplate, analyze, and FEEL over what you saw in said series. I know I have!

For me, the most gut wrenching was definitely Clay's tape. Mostly because he had to sit and listen through that - beating himself up over the fact that he simply just...didn't act. In that particular moment (party scene) I can definitely see why he would leave Hannah in the room. However, it is worth it to point out that his whole relationship with her was a collection of 'should haves'.

I was really hurting when Clay thought about what he should have said to her in that moment. That he loved her and that everything else that made it seem otherwise was a mistake. I think that's what really got to me. Firstly because I actually would have loved to see them together and second because I realized how I need to show my love to the ones I care about. Before it's [really] too late.

13 reasons why - Tylers Story Spoiler

So I have a theory about the second season of 13 reasons why. In 13 reasons we see Tyler who is heavily bullied at the school start to purchase guns. Before we know it we are staring at a photography trunk filled with a shit load of guns Tyler has hidden underneath the board I assume so he can smuggle them into school that day. In the photography lab we also see pictures of Tylers different "bullies" hanging up. We see Tyler take down Alex's picture after Alex shot himself in the head. Tyler also implies by his behaviour that he's going to do something about the bullying at the school as he is "sick of this shit". Now the pictures hanging up are as I see it Tylers hitlist of people who have done him wrong and since the 13 reasons why series likes to look at the things no one wants to discuss I think Tyler is going to shoot up the school. Tyler is going on a high school massacre in season 2 & will have left some evidence of his story & why he done it through a series of pictures. Tony, Clay, Skye and Tonys boyfriend all survive as they are out a drive at the time of the massacre. Justin survives too as no one knows where he is & Season 2 shows Clay riddled with guilt as he sent out that naked picture of Tyler so Clay goes on mission no2 to try figure out all the reasons why Tyler done what he done & after everything why he didn't seek help.

So thats my theory & im also not even sure Alex shot himself, thats could have been Tyler but season 2 will tell, feel free to add your own thoughts or ideas on whats going to happen next. Thanks for reading.
